You sound like a broken record there chief.

I think we get you. Your argument appears to be:

1) Segregate them

2) Give them a beating

Is that about right?

Why would they get a beating in their own country? They would be the government in their own country so why would they get beaten? Throw in the Hebrides along with the Orkneys.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

It all comes down to ignorance. Just because an idea is widespread (being exposed to gays can make you gay) does NOT make it correct. Unfortunately we are seeing a modern phenomenon where large groups of people seem to openly revel in their ignorance. These are the same groups that are usually the most anti-gay as well. Being gay is not a choice. Being ignorant is!

The world... nor sexuality is as simple as you wish.

Well of course that must be it. Anyone not in line with the homosexual lifestyle and agenda is obviously homosexual themselves correct?

Try again.

I am sure that to be the case in some instances.

The gov't views these parades as political statements mostly attended by outsiders coming in and trying to make international statements.... which is exactly why the signs are almost always in English.

There hasn't been such a parade in the Ukraine, which only compounds the notion this legislation is based on ignorance and bigotry.

Don't ever claim to be a Christian. You can't be pro homosexual and be a Christian. I pointed that out last week. Remember what the good book says. So now that we have that clear let's have a look shall we.

.

Conversely you can't be a Christian and pass judgment in others, according to the good book.

I love the misnomer 'good book'. It is almost always invoked to justify hatred.

I am not religious. I don't believe in deities. But my background growing up in a fundamentalist christian home taught me that what you are saying is most decidedly incorrect. Sin is sin, according to christian teaching. ALL people sin. You cannot get into heaven by being sin-free. Why do you believe the 'sin' of acting on gay impulses disqualifies you from being 'christian' but all those other sins don't?

For breaking said countries laws of course.

"If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination." (Leviticus 20:13).

"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion. ‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you." (Leviticus 18:22-24).

"For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due." (Romans 1:26-27).

I am sure that to be the case in some instances.

Think about the argument YOU are making.

That Homosexuals are of such a mind that their greatest detractors, those most repulsed by them are in fact Gays themselves.

That doesn't lend to the "They are normal" concept I would think one would want to put forth.

One might even conclude with that logic to hold such views i(about homophobes) is its self homophobic.

Typically I don't play such games, I just recognize people can be drawn to all types of sexual expression and at differing degrees.

Some conventional some not. Most societies tolerate somethings in the shadows but not in the open.

The idea that popular culture has no effect on a persons sexuality is silly.

What percentage of people dabbled in S&M 200 years ago compared to today?

humans have the capacity to even over ride their natural instincts to engage in certain behavior.

50 years ago if you were to suggest a person get their tongue pierced what percentage of people would say "NEVER"?

100%

If you lived in a culture where sex with siblings were somewhat common, this idea would not seem so far off as it now does.

Your culture and what is presented as normal... becomes normal.

As a girl exploring outside of the non-believing philosophies of my parents, I regularly attended an Episcopalian church. As mainline as they come. I really enjoyed the fellowship of the other parishioners, and also the way that even as young children we were expected to explore the teachings of Christ, and to learn how the lessons taught in the Bible can be applied in modern times. We were made to think actively, and that's probably why I went for four years even though I couldn't quite make myself believe in God or the divinity of Christ. One of the things we were taught is that we are all deserving of God's grace, whether we be white, black, brown, man, woman, straight or gay. Yes, gay. We had a number of active gay members of the church and they were always made to feel welcome. Ultimately I left when I realised that it was hypocritical of me to feign worship of a deity I did not believe in just because I enjoyed the experience of worship itself.

Even though the last Episcopalian service I attended was in 1996 (my own wedding -- my Anglican husband insisted on it), I was proud to read the other week that the Episcopal Church voted overwhelmingly to approve same-sex blessings. The Church also has an openly gay bishop and seems to be doing all right after the most conservative members left due to his consecration. Episcopalians are not out there in terms of faith. It's patently wrong for those saying that all Christians oppose homosexuality, especially since the Episcopal church is not alone in its viewpoint within Protestant faiths.

A church and/or person can try to fit the Holy Bible to suit their needs and/or beliefs but the Holy Bible firmly states Gods opinion on homosexuality. Any deviation from Gods word is un Christian and cannot be taken seriously in regards to the Christian lifestyle.

Do you claim to be a Christian?

Nope.

For breaking said countries laws of course.

Back up a bit and read the article again - you'll see this bit.

Shortly after the parade was cancelled, Sheremet was first doused with pepper spray, and then kicked in the head, legs and arms by a group of youths wearing surgical mask. They then stomped on his back. A month later, Taras Karasiychuk, another gay parade organizer, sustained a concussion and a fractured jaw when he was attacked by men shouting homophobic insults outside his home.

Here's a bit more about the two people in question. What laws did they break?

Horrific moment thugs attack head of gay rights group as Ukraine is forced to cancel parade hijacked by neo-Nazi zealots

They are shocking pictures which gay people still face a daily struggle against prejudice in some parts of the world.

With a group of three violent thugs kicking and jumping on him, Svyatoslav Sheremet lies forlornly on the ground.

He is being attacked because he is the head of the organisation Gay Forum of Ukraine.

He was attacked after meeting with members of the media to inform them that the first gay parade in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev was cancelled.

The attackers ran off when they realised members of the media were documenting the horrific assault.

The event - which had attracted about 150 gay men and lesbians - was held at a secret location and had a huge police presence.

But hundreds of neo-Nazis and other right-wing extremists turned up and spread throughout the city and began to attack people.

At least two people required hospital treatment after being assaulted.

Following the arrival of the huge groups of extremists - and the risks they posed to those looking to enjoy the event - Kiev Pride was called off.

The attacks are particularly worrying as Ukraine will jointly host the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship this summer, which will see tens of thousands of football fans from across Europe descend on the country.

Speaking to Trouw.nl, Green MEP Marije Cornelissen said she was disappointed that the authorities could not uphold human rights in Kiev.

She added: 'If the Ukrainian police is unable to offer safety to participants in a Gay Pride, then you may doubt whether they can in the upcoming European Championships.'

One of the organisers of the event - known as Taras - said he was disappointed but added: 'Our goal was to promote dialogue in society, that's succeeded.'

The Ukraine Parliament will meet on Tuesday to condemn yesterday's activities and will also discuss homophobia in the country

Euro 2012 will take place between June 8 and July 1 and will be jointly hosted between Ukraine and Poland.

Second Kiev Pride organizer attacked

Another Kiev Pride 2012 organizer has been attacked and hospitalised a month after authorities invoked public safety to cancel the event 23 June 2012| By Andrew Potts

The committee chairman of Kiev Pride 2012 was beaten up by a group of men on Thursday night in Kiev.

Taras Karasiychuk was approached by the men around midnight while returning to his home in Kiev.

The men repeatedly used homophobic slurs during the attack and did not steal anything, leading Kiev Pride 2012 organizers to believe the attack was planned.

‘There is no question that this was an homophobic attack, and possibly a specifically targeted attack on a Kiev Pride organizer,’ Kiev Pride 2012 international secretary Stanislav Mishchenko said.

Following the attack, Karasiychuk was taken to hospital where an MRI scan revealed a double fracture of the jaw.

Karasiychuk is due to undergo surgery soon and has been moved to a safe location while he recovers from a concussion.

The attack came a day and a month after authorities cancelled a planned Kiev Pride march on May 20 where another member of the organizing committee, Svyatoslay Sheremet was also attacked and hospitalized.

Ukrainian Police cancelled the march 20 minutes before it was due to start, claiming that a group of 500 right wing thugs were on route to disrupt the event.

Sheremet and another activist were beaten and tear gassed by a group of around a dozen youths after marchers had been evacuated from the area by police.

The day before an LGBT themed photo exhibition was attacked and vandalized at Kiev’s Visual Culture Research Center.

The attack on Karasiychuk comes as the Ukrainian Parliament considers a bill which would amend the country’s public morality laws, media laws and criminal code to criminalize the so-called ‘promotion’ of homosexuality.

So.... Why would they get a beating in Ukraine or Russia?
