They want to ban 'Homosexual propaganda' in the media without any clarification of what is meant by that, justifying it sensationalist rhetoric. And you don't seem too interested in their reasoning either.

You think that is a reasonable point of view? Why take their word at face value?

To me it is not a question of what I think is "reasonable".... our culture is on a downward trajectory so I don't run around the world proclaiming everyone follow our lead.

When another countries culture effects mine, thats different. If another country is committing what "I" would consider grave human rights then that is different but if a middle east country punishes criminals more harshly than I would or if they want to ban Christian from moving in..... thats not my bidness.

Whats funny is you seem upset that Gays in Ukraine can't come out from the shadows and be true to who they are but if you take canada for example, Christians can not come out of the shadows and speak freely on this topic, but that doesn't concern you..... only when the censoring goes against your personal values.

Where to start here. Firstly its a fallacy to suggest a culture is in decline, that's a meaningless statement. Cultures evolve, that's all they do. Short of aliens taking over or ebola wiping out the human race they don't die out or decline.

Secondly having an opinion is part of a democratic tradition. The quotes in the article from the politicians behind that proposed law suggest that their stated goal and their motivations for pursuing it are questionable. The alleged violent repression of people promoting Homosexual rights is similarly questionable.

You either agree with what they're doing or you don't. I don't.

The homosexuals could always go to Ukraine and have a big time rally/march/protest and see how far that gets them. Good luck with that one.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Or you could live and let live and not care so much about what other people are doing with their lives. That's a thought, too. :)

Someone needs to tell that to the homosexuals. They keep forcing their agenda on everyone. Check out the Boy Scout thread on here and you will see a prime example of what I'm getting at. They can't just leave it alone, they always want more. Well let them fly to Ukraine or any RUB country for that matter and try that ####### and see how far it gets them.

Want more WHAT?

Seems that homosexuals want the same things heterosexuals have.

People want to be treated equally. Sorry if you feel that's "forcing an agenda" but when it comes to human equality, I don't think people should be left out. And if they are, I think they should be vocal about it.

The same way people on this board complain that America's people are too weak, don't stand up for what they believe in, willing to be victims instead of fighting for what's right ... you'd think they would be on board with homosexuals fighting for rights they deserve. Isn't that what America's about? The ability and freedom to be who you want to be and not be treated differently or improperly for it? Being able to stand up if you feel you've suffered injustice at the hands of your government or society?

Or should only the people whose lives, ideas and 'agendas' that you believe in have that right without being told to GTFO?

Let them start their own Boy Scout type organization instead of trying to force their ####### on the Boy Scouts of America.

Force what #######?

We all know that segregation solves all of society's "problems" ... it's worked so well before.

"Human equality"?

What does that even mean in this topical context?

No one is suggesting they be imprisoned or persecuted.... they are simply saying what most people in the world say, this version of sex is detrimental to our social order so we will keep a limit on it.

Don't be a drama-queen (forgive the pun)

Far as I know gay sex is completely legal there as is wife swamping and group sex but these are other activities best left to the privacy of peoples homes, rather than on parade.

It means that the reason that homosexuals are so "in your face" about their sexuality or feel the need to have parades is one simple reason ... unfortunately, right now, they're treated as second class citizens. They don't get the same rights and benefits that heterosexual couples do. If they were treated like the normal human beings they are, then they wouldn't have to protest. They wouldn't have to put themselves out there.

Sorry if it makes you uncomfortable. How is anyone's sex life "detrimental to our social order"?! Talk about drama-queen.

When the original article describes a climate of violence against homosexuals in the context of a proposed law seeking to ban "homosexual propaganda" it seems this is exactly what is being said.

Especially when the comments of the original poster seem to gloss over the ugly side of this to make some spurious point about how what happens in another country's "culture" has nothing to do with them.

One might wonder why it was posted to begin with.
