There's a difference between loans and handouts. When a poor person gets food stamps from the government, it's not a loan, it's a handout. They never have to pay the money back.

Food stamps are paid with the contribution of poor Americans, who work as well. Besides, many manage to bounce right up and get jobs and pay right back into the system.

They would pay the same taxes, or more likely, no taxes, whether or not they get the food stamps. Food stamps are a socialist wealth redistribution program originally intended to temporarily help those that couldn't help themselves, not to be a way of life.
