Hi, My partner and I are about to get married in Australia in ~2 weeks. (I'm an Australian passport holder who also has an Israeli Passport. She's an American citizen). We decided to build our home in the US and therefore decided to start the CR-1 process as soon as we're married.

We currently both in Australia but we prefer to do the process via the Israeli consulate (e.g have the final interview in Israel). I plan to move my current home base to Israel in a few weeks as its much closer to the US and would help us during the process.

1. is it possible to do the process via the Israeli consulate even though our marriage is in Australia?

2. If so, can I submit the initial I-130 + G-325a already from Australia or should I wait until I get to Israel?

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Thank you,

Tal

1. Yes.

2. You can submit it now. The case won;t be at NVC stage by the time you move, so there should be no issues.

This is correct. However, NVC will initially assign the case to Sydney (where the foreigner lived at the time of filing) and a request will need to be made to transfer the case to Jerusalem. This will kill a couple weeks.

1. Yes.

2. I would wait until you are in Israel to save delays.

Also as a side note, if you are applying from Israel change your country on this site to Israel. The flag is so people who are going through the process in the same country can search for people also going through the process in that country, or advise people from a specific country.

Agree on the flag but changing country at NVC kills two weeks. He isn't moving for six weeks, so calculate accordingly.

Hi Tal,

Funny enough I'm also holding an Israeli passport (apart from Australian one), but because My husband is dual citizen and we live in Australia, I have decided to apply from Australia(Australia has been my base for the last 10 years). Also note - because my husband is still living with me in Australia our case went a bit quicker than if we were to separate....There is a thread on this http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/357465-usc-petitioner-living-abroad/

Good luck Tal, hope it all goes quick for you
