I have a question for my fellow VJers.. Dealing strictly with the flights. What airline did you choose to fly to the USA and for what reason? I am thinking about either Qatar Airlines bc I am a FF or Delta which has a good time of us getting to my home in NC.

I've flew back in forth from Manila to SFO for semester break from school. So far, I dislike PAL coz plane is so small, stuffy and noisy.crying.gif I heard they have Boeing 777 out, new model and more spaces, if u get that then your good. I didn't like CHINA AIRLINE, i guess from my experience - was sitting in the very front near the cabin so everytime the stewardest would come out, they would hit me with the curtain. headbonk.gif hahaha. Stop over at Taipei, nice airport, lots of things to do there. But CHINA AIRLINE was okay, flight was smooth. DELTA is my choice - i was soo relax, more space in my seat and aisle. Meal was good. Very organize. kicking.gif

Delta (Northwest Airlines at that time).

Because it was the quickest way to get from Seattle to Manila.

Only a two-hour layover in Japan.

Same thing returning to Seattle.

Yeah i just flew on Delta for 3 separate flights.. Manila to Tokyo, Tokyo to Honolulu, Honolulu to LA. 30 hours total but that is because it was the cheapest possible flight they had. Delta is a very nice airline. Comfortable planes, good service and good food.

I personally don't like Delta, but usually end up flying them because the timetable and price is right when purchasing tickets. Delta or partners of delta is probably what you will end up with flying from Manila to the US. We just flew to the Philippines from Italy on KLM. They are ok, but I would rather have only one stopover instead of 2. I took these tickets as they were paid for by the military. The only good thing about KLM is we were in Economy Plus or whatever they call it....more legroom and seats recline a little further.

My favorite airline of all time is Korean Air. If you can transfer from MNL to ICN then to the US, you won't be disappointed. Have flown them several times back and forth, and they have great service, comfort, etc.

I flew American Airlines; which was one of the shortest flight times and also the cheapest in May. I flew from Jacksonville, Fl, so either had choices of Dallas/FW airports, or to JKF to leave Internationally, and both flew in to Tokyo, then to Manila. AA has several flights daily that connect to USA from Manila, joint with Japan Airlines. All my INT flights were on a Boeing 777, and were great. I was surprised about 2 full meals, and several snacks on the flight. I think Mondays are the most expensive day to fly on. We'll use AA this fall and her POE will be LAX.

Good luck.

Delta for sure is the fastest, cheapest and their new interiors are great. Korean is very nice but typically more expensive. Pal might be a little cheaper if your going to vegas or sfo i think is their other stop, but realize that Pal bought extra brand new planes to fly more routes to the states and they were denied because of maint practices and procedural issues. I hate American but thats just me...

Wow, thank you for your responses. It does look like Delta is the cheapest and the least number of layovers which are a good thing. I am really sketchy about flying PAL such a long haul like that. I have heard some horror stories. But I am still checking it out.

Delta was great for me. Flight was 21 hours from manila to toyko (2 hour layover) then to detroit (2 hour layover) then to arkansas. I had a travel agent Ed Mabunga do my flights and have saved about $175 under what I could find by myself on line.

I always fly Delta because they have the shortest fly time between my home and Manila. Went United one time to save a couple hundred bucks, and it wasn't worth it at all. Plus a late departure made me almost miss my connection to Hong Kong, then another long wait until leaving for Manila. Those extra 10 hours traveling were a real killer. I've never had a coach flight that gave enough leg room and I've never managed to get much more than a nap while on a plane. Essentially those coup,e hundred dollars probably cost me 4 vacation days in adjusting there and readjusting back here again. Its just not worth it to me.

To the person from Manila to SFO on PAL who said the plane was small? They fly 747s which are about as big as they come.

I flew PAL twice, didn't have any problems at all from SFO to Manila. The third time I flew Hawaiin Air, connecting in Honolulu. It was OK.

PAL isn't a great airline, their planes are older, but as they're the only ones flying non-stop from Manila to SFO, I still prefer to fly them. Also fly business class, so I can't say how good their coach seats or anything are.
