They wouldn't dare treat a President Romney like this. Obama is weak which is why even Europeans with effete sounding names say no to him.

International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge won't budge: There will be no minute's silence for the Israeli victims of the 1972 Munich massacre at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics.

...

During the second week of the Munich Games, eight members of the Black September militant group penetrated the laxly secured Olympic Village and took Israeli team members hostage. A day later, all 11 were dead. German police killed five of the eight assassins during a failed rescue attempt and Israeli agents tracked down and killed the others.

The Israeli and German foreign ministers and the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee have urged the IOC to observe a minute's silence.

President Barack Obama also supports the campaign for a minute's silence.

Another example of the US trying to politicize the Olympic Games when it's a sporting event and not a tool for more Jewish votes.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Wow, anti-Semitic much?

Your reaching again. I know you can do better than that. I was totally against the US boycotting the 1980 Olympics in Moscow over the invasion of Afghanistan. Again it's the Olympic Games, not some political tool for a bunch of thieving politicians.

Ironic that US and NATO troops are now in Afghanistan and not the Russians. My how times have changed.

I've seen this movie before. An American of few convictions of his/her own marries a foreigner and quickly embraces elements of the foreign spouse's culture/nationality. I see it on the UK and MENA forums all the time. Silly Americans sticking 'u' in the word humor and throwing around Inchallah like every day is Friday.

Except in your case you seem to have adopted their political views, from Cold War resentments to that regions well known anti-Semitism.

Like I said, I've seen this movie before but it never does get old. You're just another sequel and I have no doubt there will be many more after you.

You know I could report that post of yours for pure stupidity and ignorance but seeing how I'm not into the reporting thing I'l bite.

First off how am I siding with my wife's political views seeing how she has none that I know of, and secondly how am I being anti Semitic in my post by not agreeing to the Olympic Games being used as a political tool when it's obviously a sporting event.

Please explain this to me or I will report that post of yours. And make it good. None of your usual talk around the subject bs this time.

Report it. I don't really care.

When you assume an American head of state makes a request like that for the sole purpose of "jewish votes", you're being an anti-semite.

I said it again. Now they can suspend me twice :)

Are you for real or what? Romney has a lock on the majority of the Jewish votes so this is Obama's way of taking a piece of the action. It's an election year for christ sake. I mean why do you think Obama wants to make the Olympic Games a political event? Because he cares? Get real.

And lay off the anti Semitic ####### while your at it. If you ever took the time to actually read one of my post in regards to Israel it's pretty obvious I'm pro Israel when it comes to the Israel - Arab conflict.

Politico:

The most recent Gallup polling of Jewish registered voters puts Obama’s level of support closer to the 1972 to 1988 era — he’s up 64 percent to 29 percent.

It's based on facts. Try google search if you have any doubts.

I don't put much faith in those numbers.

I think someone is trying to stir the pot here and make this into something more than it is. The article stated that Obama supported the request for a minute silence. Big deal! Where does it say that he thinks it hugely important? The US house of representatives seems to have weighed in as well and maybe it is more important to them? But they are republican majority! What is your point? This proves virtually nothing about Obama!

He was doing what he does best...trolling with that OP.

I'm all for supporting Israel as a state, but I'm not into turning the Olympics into a political forum. It's been done by athletes on the podium in order to get their point across, it's been done by Olympic judges, and it's been done by leaders, organizations, and countries...; Hitler, the US, the USSR, the PLO and I'm sure there's more.

As far as Congress is concerned Netanyahu was given a standing ovation when he spoke in front of them. It was like Gandhi addressing the masses and it was a bit pathetic imo. When Obama said he was going to squeeze Israel to come to the bargaining table with the Palestinians the Israeli's had a heart attack and tried to paint Obama as anti Jewish. It was a pure flat out smear campaign. I'm not fan of Obama but he is still my president and last time I checked it was the US giving Israel it's tax dollars and not the other way around.
