Why wear a bullet proof vest if he knew his victims wouldn't be shooting back? He gave himself up to the cops, so it's not like he planned a shootout with them, either.

That's the truly odd part. Usually these crazies either off themselves or try to take down a few cops with them.

Why wear a bullet proof vest, wear a gas mask and bobby trap the apartment only he know why.

Why someone who was doing very good in their field would do something like this only they would know, why he did not resist to police etc only he would know about it.

what happens if you loose one piece of ammo that gets used in a non-legal manner?

what if it's simply one piece of brass left at the range that someone picked up and carried away?

i can see the next best thing for the black market ... once fired (by the police) brass.

imagine reloading a police officers once fired brass and committing a crime ... which leaves the police officers brass at the scene of the crime. nothing like framing the cops ...

He was also wearing a ballistic helmet, wouldn't that also be kevlar?

apparently far more research than you have - how about 20 years toting around it's cousin in the military? and no, it's not an assault rifle. it's just a semi auto rifle that shoots a bullet slightly larger than a .22 - nor has it assaulted anyone.
