No but there are a lot of things that kill directly and indirectly that are not restricted with relation to need.

The problem with that is a car or cell phone is not in the constitution, so it is hard to compare them.

If we look at a car though, there are no restrictions on how many you can buy. There is no restriction on how much gas you can buy. There are a number of restrictions on how it is operated. In addition you must take a written and practical test in order to use it. Compare this to a gun that is designed for defense (or sometimes hunting). There is no test to ensure you know how to use it correctly. The FBI check to obtain the gun is very basic (here at least). As was mentioned before, people give guns to children, I've known of this happening. Less people tend to give a 10 year old a vehicle to drive, why is this? Is it because the constitution makes it "seem" acceptable to do one but not the other?

That is very true, snuggies aren't designed to kill people though. ;)

the can suffocate if used improperly by infants or raging drunk idiots ..

also they can enable bad habits (sedentary lifestyle) leading ultimately to increased medical costs due to obesity ... then death via heart attack

Not at all. You are being emotional. I'm just as American as you are, not sure why you added that in there?

I just said there were 30 in the Glock .45. I said that yesterday too.................... :bonk: Seems like you're complaining without any justification for it.

:secret: that was in response to your post about the huge ak magazine...

Do you have any justification for it? It seems like you are splitting hairs for the sake of arguing.

True. They should be outlawed along with Crocs.

Well the test thing is state dependent. In California, you take a safety test and a basic operations test for a typical revolver and a 1911 style semi-auto.

I wasn't even really thinking of cars but yes thats a good one, like why are SUVs needed in the city? I was thinking more about alcohol and cigarettes. Alcohol is in the constitution.

let them use the "wicked" large capacity mags. they are more prone to jams ... heavier .... harder to handle ... decrease accuracy.

someone with a lower capacity mag, with skills on its use, and marksmanship would be someone to worry about (think of lee harvy oswald)

 one could apply that statement to you.

Why is a dually needed in the city? I love it when I see them with balls hanging from the tow bar, so manly. What about trucks with monster tires? If you get hit by one of those it isn't going to be pretty.

I understand that each state has its own gun rules, some are very strict and some are overly lax. There should be a federal standard for everyone but of course people would riot if the government even suggested that.

Cigarettes are a nasty one, they are bad for not only the smoker but everyone around them. They are slowly being pushed out of places thankfully.

Alcohol can kill people but normally it would be self inflicted (liver failure, heart attack etc) or it would involve another luxury like a vehicle. It could also involve a weapon. A cell phone wouldn't directly kill someone either normally, but it kills a lot of people when it is used in a car. Guns are unique in the sense that they are designed to kill alone.

 one could apply that statement to you.

I have justified my statements many many many times. You haven't justified anything, unless you want to count "because I want it" as a justification... :bonk:

I note that firearms are designed to kill, but from a stats point of view, an extended magazine is used rarely in a crime...its potentially a handicap, and people die from these other vices at a far higher rate.

Therefore if the approach is to save lives based on what people need it would be far more effect to ban alcohol, tobacco, and SUVs

Ban cell phones! :P

I agree that they are rarely used in crime, but why are they available at all?

Jared Lee Loughner was accused of killing six people last year and injuring more with help from a 33-round magazine, the bullet holder extending from the grip of his Glock 19.

High-capacity accessories like these would have been illegal a decade ago.
