My GC expires in mid October, so I have all my stuff together to mail:

-Got a personal check for $590

-Got the form filled out

-Got my GC photocopied, front and back

-Got a cover sheet listing my relationship evidence

-Got 10 pieces of evidence ranging from Home Assessment with both of our names at the same address, dental insurance bill, copy of recent joint income tax return to our Discover credit card bill

Does I have everything?

Some of my evidence, for example, my dental insurance bill is 2 papers, should I staple them together?

How should I put the whole package of papers together, should I just put a paper clip around it or does it not matter?

How long does this process take after I have mailed in my package, I will be mailing to the Vermotn center? Does my GC get extended by 1 year immediately? Do I have to get fingerprints done again? How long does it normally take to get the 10 year extension?

Thanks for your help

You need a copy of both passports also....

I just recently posted what I sent in the July filers link.. It was pretty straight forward... I grouped topics together and either stapled them or paper clipped multiples in a given topic, like taxes.. I left the 6 affidavate letters unstapled and paper clipped them as they are originals and legal documents.. I put all items in the order of the cover letter i attached to the bundle...

You will get an acknowledgement letter from them that acts as your 12 month extension ubtil you get your new GC... Yes you will have to do another set of biometrics for the new card..

Yeah, no passports necessary.

I think right now VSC is taking around 7-9 months. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. You should get your NOA, which is your 1 year extension within 30 days or so after they receive your packet. You will need to so biometrics again.

As for the organization, I stapled papers that go together (eg bank statements that were more than 1 page) Then I put the entire packet together with a binder clip. It was too thick for a regular paperclip. But no, it doesn't really matter. They will reorganize as they see fit.

We didn't submit any copies of passports (my husband is from Australia), nor were we asked for those copies.

We filed through CSC and it took 5 months and one week to get approved (yes, I counted. :) ), but it seems VSC takes longer.

Like Hugglebuggles above, I stapled documents that were more than one page (e.g. bank statements), and then I also put paperclips on documents in categories (e.g. joint financial statements; travel boarding passes, pictures, joint residency documents etc.)

I also had a Table of Contents as a cover sheet specifying the order of the documents (that's just the teacher in me and my OCD :) ).
