Mailing the application...

Hello!!

I have been reading through all of the guides over and over and over again to make sure that my future hubby and I understand what we need to do to have the quickest possible turnaround time to get my Visa. I have a couple of questions tho, which may have been answered in other posts but I don't have time to go through them all so I appreciate your patience with me.

Mailing the application...

We want to apply for the CR-1 visa as shortly after we get married here in Australia as possible but my question is, does my husband have to wait until he get's home to the States before he can mail off the application or can we mail it from here in Australia? (i don't know if it needs a US post mark on it)

Supporting evidence...

Ok, I know that we need to submit chat histories, skype records, phone calls etc. But do I need to submit a copy of every single chat we have had since we met in March 2011? Because if I do then the package will most likely weigh more than I do! And if they do need every single one, can I submit an electronic copy of it all on a usb stick? I can't remember seeing anything about that in the guides.

That's all I had for now :)

Thanks in advance!!!

He can mail it from Aus.

No electronic media (usb sticks, CDs etc). You don't need to send much when your husband sends the I-130; I suggest a page of photos (6, on one piece of paper), and maybe a screenshot of your "sent" box filtered to show only emails from you to him- ie showing you email eachother several times weekly. You can bring more to the interview 8+ months down the line. Even then, you don';t need to bring every single chat/ email. Bring phone records, some select email from throughout your time dating/ as a married couple where you talk about your plans and future. Bring a wedding invitation, a few wedding photos, proof of any co-mingling of resources (being on his life insurance etc).

I agree. The US Citizen will be mailing a "Petition for Alien Relative" not a visa application and can send it by mail or courier from anyplace in the world, whenever ready. The visa application comes later.

Thank you to you both!! That takes a large load off my mind, as I had started the process of saving chat histories to my laptop so that I could print them if needed....and when one day of chatting was about 4 pages to print you can understand that I was getting a little worried about how big the mailing packet would be! haha!

Send examples of how and how frequently you communicate, such as the log of the chats, or even scattered examples of the log, instead of hundreds of pages nobody will read.
