Hi Everyone,

I just need some input on gathering the required documents after the NOA2 is approved. We shipped the I-130 packet on July 19th 2012 and was signed for by USCIS on July 20th, 2012. We are currently awaiting NOA1. My wife sent me two packets at different times for her requirements for I-130. It turns out each of those two packets were translated incorrectly, notarized documents had mistakes, and many other things. On the third and final packet she sent me from Colombia we decided to include the certificado de DAS/Police certificate, Change of name, Marriage certificate, birth certificate ,Ds-230 certificate (all long versions) in order not to have it all mailed out later again. She didnt' check any of the documents she received from Colombia so it was mistake after mistake and ended up mailing three packets with DHL when it should have been one, very frustrating and costly. So my question is, will we need updated documents after the NOA2 is approaved to mail out to NVC or do the ones we have sufficient? I know none of these have expirations dates, except the Police certificate. She will taking updated certified documents to the Interview in Bogota as well.

Thank You

i think you should be ok if there is no expiration date on any certificate or document

but still dont send them if they are too old like last year or so

They are current, from this month.

It all depends on the expiration date of the police certificate. Since you just sent the I-130 to the USCIS, you're looking at a 5-9 month wait for approval before it goes to the NVC for further processing, which could add another 2-6 weeks before you have to send them the DS-230 packet with the police certificate. If the expiration date on that document is still valid by then, then you should be fine.
