Residency requirements!!

Because of family related issues I have had to travel to and from the US numerous times (8 to be exact) I have always been careful not to surpass the 6 month time limit for travel session, but still I have been outside of the US for 27 months out of the 60 that would compromise the last 5 years ( I have traveled only the last three years prior to that I did not).

I have a continuous residence in the US. ( My parents house). I have bills in my name (PSEG has been under my name for at least the past 4 years). driver license, bank statements etc which prove my residence. I have not traveled since applying and through 2012 I have been out of the country only for 30 days (again family oriented issues).

I have begun to get somewhat worried though. I could not find another thread with the same type of problems that I have, thus I opened this one.

My interview date is on Friday, but I am getting increasingly nervous. Please let me know what you think about my situation!

The minimum number of months that you have to be in the US to naturalize based on the 5-year rule is 30. If you traveled for 27 months, that means that you were in the US the remaining 33. 33 is more than 30. If you haven't interrupted your residence by staying out of the country for more than 1 year at a time (or more than 6 months without proving that you intended to keep your residence in the US), you should be fine.

Receive IV Bill : 2010-10-20

Pay IV Bill : 2010-10-15

Case Completed at NVC :2010-12-9

Failed to sign at NVC web :2010-12-21

Interview 08/02/2012

RFE DNA/ did the DNA test req 8/2/2012

8/3/12 Collection kit was mailed in Tirana embassy (for my brother)

8/13/12 my brother was called at the embbasy. and the kit was mailed out to DNA center in California.

9/7/12 The results mailed out to Tirana Embassy

9/14/12 embassy called my brother to mail his passport to get his visa.

DNA journey lasted 6 weeks

It would also depend on how long did oy stay in the States between the long trips. If you went to your home country for 5 months then came back for a week or two and then left for another five months they might think you interrupted the residency requirements. You say you did not travel the first two years correct? This means you traveled extensively for the next 3 years. They might question you about that. I wish you luck today :) Please let us know what happens
