Read the reviews of JFK, that will help you.

When I arrived at Newark on my K1 I was taken to secondary and asked when I was getting married. I said "in the next 90 days" and they said, "OK". And I went on my way to catch my connecting flight.

You could go to JFK and meet her there, that way you are in the airport if need be.

Almost all the immigration officers on the non US citizen side speak Spanish ( at JFK at least) so no need to worry there and if hers doesnt tell her to request one she wants to be 100% sure shes answering everything correctly. You should go to the airport But in case if there is a problem they do come out and contact you. Although I've never been with someone on a k-1 visa I've traveled into JFK a lot of time over 8 in the last 2 years from chile, Spain, Italy and holland and never once have I seen an issue. Don't get me wrong they aren't nice ur lucky to get a good morning or anything like that. They take ur documents ask u a few short question. I usually get why where you traveling to that country? did you bring any fruit? Carrying money over $10,000? After I answer they stamp my passport and hand me my paperwork and let me go. It takes between 2-5 minutes. I think she will be ok. Hope this helps

She should be fine. They have Customs agents there that speak Spanish. Tell her to do the following things

-Inform the Customs agent she is entering on a K-1 Visa

-Explain to them she may need a translator if they question her.

-Tell the Customs agent she understands the K-1 requirement. She must marry the petitioner within 90 days and then Adjust Status to obtain Green Card and working privileges.

-Give the Customs Agents the "unopened" packet that came with the Visa.

Hi!!!

My husband's POE was JFK!!! I can't say it was bad but from what he told me it was a little intimidating. The officer did not speak Spanish and my husband does not speak English. So he intimidated him and with a strong voice told him to follow some other officer. ( I know how officers are so Thats not weird for me. But for a first timer it can be a little scary I guess). Then the other officer took him to the little room where he had to wait about TWO HOURS! but they just took his packet and sent him on his way. Basically they didnt ask him anything! he just said that the waiting was the worst. So get ready to wait because for the first time they might take a lot of time. Good LUck!!! and may you have a smooth POE.
