FOIA to get AP info?

You can file a FIOA request for a copy of the notes on the file, but it can take a very long time and may delay the processing of the file... This does not mean that you will actually find out the reason... Common reasons are recent divorces and names coming up on watch lists.. may not be you but may be same name..

Yeah, it was a shot in the dark anyway - a 'can't hurt to ask' deal.

I was divorced 12 years ago and my name isn't on a watch list, so I have no idea what the hell the problem is.

Any idea if the CSR people that answer the phones at the NVS know why it's being delayed or are they just reading a comp screen with no details on it?

Also, would it be of any use to ask to speak to the supervisor to find out what's up?

they have no clue.. they can only see that it is being processed...

Even if they did, they are not permitted to say... when a case is really in AP it is usually the result of some form of investigation.. they can't talk about it... all too often the CSR's use the term AP to describe any processing.. many get scared when they hear AP and it's not really AP..
