Traveling outside of U.S. on a 2yr conditional green card

My wife got her green card a couple months ago, and is now planning on visiting family back in her country. What will she need to reenter the U.S.? She will be gone for around two months. Her green card is in my last name, but her passport from her country is in her maiden name, and she doesn't have a driver license yet. Will she have trouble getting back in if she leaves?

You must purchase the tickets in her maiden name or the name in her passport--that is the official government issued ID used for international travel. She might want to take a long a copy of the marriage certificate to help the airline people and CBP make the connection between her passport name and her GC name.

She needs to get the plane ticket in the name that matches her passport. She will need to bring her marriage certificate with her to prove why her green card is in her married name.

Book the airline ticket in the name that is on the passport. Bring the passport, green card, and marriage certificate. My wife and I traveled back to Mexico after she got her green card and we brought these three items. We were never asked to show the marriage certificate though. I'm pretty sure when they scan the green card, they see all of the names associated with it. In any case, you should bring it just to be safe.
