Can you tell me then, my wife will be getting ALL her vaccines also on her first visit. Will the medical be finished in one day if receiving all the shots the same day? Or does it take 2 days? Then she'll be ready for the interview, and the additional shots are given once in USA??

She has no vaccines before.

Thanks.

Hi John and Ann,

did you mean no vaccines since birth? Just make sure she has a BCG scar on right deltoid arm (usually). The medical exam will take 2 days. yes she will be receiving the vaccines ( depends which vaccines) at the same time. some of the vaccines needs 2nd dose.

again,or give them a call...well,don't worry too much at least you are done in that part. :)

Hi John and Ann,

HepB always requires at least a 2nd visit.

The big scar you see on girls shoulders throughout the Philippines is NOT NORMAL in the USA! I have never seen a USA citizen with scars on their arm, vaccinations should not leave you permanently scarred for life!

Just what shot is causing that and tell me they are not scarring children and spouses of future USA immigrants at ST Lukes?!

For your info, here in the Philippines, there is Standard routine immunization schedule like in the U.S. One of those immunization is BCG. It's BAcillus Calmette-Guerin. given at earliest possible age. Protects the possibility of TB meningitis and other TB infections in which infants are prone. It is intradermal that is why it leaves a scar on the right deltoid of the arm. I am not scaring people here just trying to help and seeking some answers. Your wife or fiancee or any relatives here in PI should know that.

Chinook was a K-1'er. She got the usual shots at St. Lukes...TDap, MMR, Varicella, and flu.

She did not have to get any follow-up shots here in the U.S.

I don't know why one poster said she got a Hepatitis B shot at St. Lukes. I've never heard of St. Lukes giving anyone a Hepatitis B shot.

Hi, thanks for the replies. BIG SCAR: Yes, she does have ONLY that one. I believe it is associated with the TB vaccination we, or most in USA receive at a young age here. Its usually about the size of a dime; mine is on the left side, maybe it doesn't matter which arm they did it on. Other than that one, NO she doesn't have any of the vaccinations. So we were just wondering, when a person will be getting ALL the other shots, if the medical will run into a second day. I think what I've read though, the second booster is done after they enter the USA if it is several months later. She must travel from Leyete, so we just trying to plan travel arrangements. So unless something unusual shows up, the medical should only take one day. Thanks.

BIG SCAR: I do have one also; my wife has one to. Its pretty permanent I'd say. Its only about the size of a dime though, and blends in well, hardly noticeable on me now, but it can still be seen. I haven't heard of many people having a really bad reaction to having them. I do remember getting mine, and it was just a little prickly on my arm, and a band aid over it for a day or so.
