This my my rant for the day...:blink::blink:

I couldn't believe it! 3.5 years and I have never had trouble entering the U.S... pretty much every week too! This past week I drove back in and showed my passport with my CR1 visa stamped showing that I was a legal resident of the United States. The two officers at the gate said it was not valid because there was no I-94 attached. I politely told them I do not need an I -94 and that the CR1 visa is an I-551 and it says that "upon endorsement serves at temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 yeaer" It was endorsed on Feb. 10... They STILL did not believe me!!!

I went inside and the officer there was trying to explain that 2 departments are amalgamating and they are still learning, blah blah blah... o.k... it wasn't a HUGE deal but it was still almost half an hour waiting for absolutely nothing!!!

O.k... rant done... I feel better now!!! Thanks for reading!!

Can the Naturalizatin process be so painless?!!

There's always gotta be something at the border, doesn't there?

I think they could sure use some extensive training of their border officers so that they know the facts and give out correct information.

I have called the Blaine border a few times with questions, and once, I got two different answers to the same question.

So..... I hear your frustrations!!!!!

Agree! And I'm sure the officers working would agree too. There is a combination of understaffing, lack of training budget and constantly changing law and procedures, and amalgamation of departments leaving few as experts in something and many scratching their heads on what ther're suppose to know in everything.

The US and Canada officers are in the same boat, at one time there were officers that were imigration, officers that were customs - now they are expected to be both...... along with enforcing over 90 other government department regulations and laws.

Actually I went through Cornwall.

Yeah there's a lot of growing pains going on... It used to be that the Customs people didn't have to know anything about Immigration and the Immigration people didnt have to know anything about Customs.

Now that they've has a forcible marriage, they're trying to get the old people from each side up to speed. Looks like the Immigration training for the old Customs people didn't get there yet...

You should have no problems. They seem to know the K-1 and K-3 visas but not the CR-1 and the IR-1. They tried to tell me I could only cross on a K-type visa.

Best of luck!

Can the Naturalizatin process be so painless?!!

 I just had the same thing last night. I was talking to the US CBP officer - (who is actually in the process of helping his daughter and son in law with their paper work) and I was telling him that I was thinking I was just going to co the CR1 route as I am in no rush to live in the US as I do not need a EAD to work as I will be continueing to work in Canada and I still have a residence in Canada. He didn't seem know anything about the CR-1 other than the I-130 is the first step to the K3 and told me I would have to do the K3 and couldn't just file the petition for CR-1.

I think most people want to get into the US as soon as possible thus the K3 route is probably the most common, especially at the smaller POE's where they don't have much experience with immigration.
