kit kat!!!!!

when are you getting to mexico???? I'm going too (this friday) and will be super available if you are. :)

let me know. i'm in the south...walking distance from Coyo.

We're about 15 minutes east of the airport (I'd love to be that close to Coyo). But I'll working the whole time I'm there and probably not much time to play early on since I'm facing two mid-June deadlines. How long will you be there?

just friday and saturday, but seeing as marco's at work all day friday and i'm not letting any of my girlfriends know i'm flying in, I'll be on my own.

Marco's family lives out your way...... a few blocks into neza off of avenida panti :) i LOVE that part of town on christmas/new years etc.

when do you get into town?

Looking at the forms I have to fill out, I'd assume that they wouldn't get their knickers in a twist about discrepancies in employment history. The fellow had yet ANOTHER job change (this time he's at his dream job in a five star hotel...for which he'll have to give his renuncia). It asks for most recent employer, and of course this isn't indicated anywhere on the G325A I originally submitted because it came after.

Will they care?

How's this for evidence (I realize they won't look at most of it):

- a lovely photo album, "Best of Edgar and Melissa since 2000," NO metal anywhere to be found

-my cell phone bills for six months, with our calls and texts highlighted (basically whole pages will have to be highlighted)

-my visa bills from my three last visits after moving back here (with charges in Cancun and Playa)

-whatever I can scrounge up from my travel agent detailing my flight history to and fro since 2000.

-notarized letters from dad, mom, and stepmom all giving the dates that they met him while he was with me (pictures to back it up...dad looks frighteningly like me, so no question there)

-pictures of the shrine I made in his honor, with samples of his fingernail clippings, a lock of his hair, and a shmear of his saliva from the first time we kissed

Nothing from the computer...we don't email. Only one actual boarding pass that I included in the original packet. My passport doesn't have clear stamps.

I don't want to include my FM3 because it has an address that neither of us ever lived at. Anything else or does this sound good?

amiga, you said shmear, it's so jewish!!! :D

Kitkat,

Will you have computer access in Mexico???????

LOL - are you freaking out that I might not be around?

No worries -- all of my work is done online and I have broadband access there (couldn't live without it!!!) Half the time I post here, I'm in DF. I've spent a good portion of the past 12 months there!

:)

Hola Friends,

I haven't said hello in a while but I have been reading CDJ thread. So glad to hear everyone is moving along and that Monica was approved and more interviews are coming up. Leo and I are doing so great. The year is moving by fast. I can't believe he has been here for over 5 months now and that we have been married for over 2 months. This past Saturday we had a marriage reception for our family and friends. It was wonderful. My family from all over the USA came and met Leo and celebrated with us. Everyone was so welcoming to him. We are now just awaiting his EAD so he can work. This week is first week he has absolutely nothing to do. His ESL classes ended. So an approval soon would be great. I do get to take him with me to 3 business trips this summer that are in pretty nice spots but we are ready to get him to work. He is doing a good job though at home keeping our yard nice and green with the drought we are having.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Allie

Oh, I don't have the umbilical cord. I asked his mom, but she wouldn't part with it. :)

Of course, I have MANY more photos from when we first met than more recent ones. Basically I just have three taken in the past two years. Ran into the same issue that you did, Monica...just busy going about our business of being a couple to think about actually documenting it!

For those of you who got married/had receptions like Allie & Leo did, how did you deal with the fact that the people involved were all "your" people, as I can imagine that many of your spouses don't have families able to get tourist visas? The main reason I want to get married with no friends or family is because I feel like anything we do would be so lop-sided and might make him feel worse that his family isn't there.

I think each situation is different. Leo is not close(doesn't talk to anymore) his family. His friends in Mexico are his family. We did invite a couple of his close friends. They tried to make it but couldn't get out of work. I'm so glad we decided to have it because it gave my family a chance to meet him and get to know him. Our relationship has been in Mexico so my family/friends didn't know him at all. We plan to vacation in Mexico once a year so we will remain in touch with his friends. You can always do two parties- One in USA and one in Mexico. In my situation having family from Mexico attend was not an issue. I'm sure many of USA family members had/have reservations about the situation we are all in but I can tell you after this past weekend they all understand why I went thru with it and how HAPPY LEO AND I ARE. :P:goofy:

Oh, Allie...please don't think I thought not having his family there was bad!! Of course every situation is different...I've been thinking of this issue for a while and hearing about your wonderful experience made me want to ask how others handled it! :)

In my case, Edgar is seriously afflicted by mamitis. I'm planning on having a celebration in Mexico when we can travel and having borh families there. Even though our relationship up to this point has been in Mexico, he has met three of my parents and they adore him, even though he doesn't speak English and they don't speak Spanish. In fact, my father has been nagging me about this visa for YEARS.

But, yeah...I'm really curious to hear how others have dealt with this.

Congrats!!!!!

We are only to go to the JP, but it isn't the first marriage for either of us. We're both just ready to do it so we can finally begin our life as normal people. lol Only my immediate family is here and everyone else is back in my hometown and, of course, his family is in Mexico. So going to the JP makes sense to us.

We're not having a wedding - just a small civil ceremony in the Rabbi's study -- one step up from the Justice of the Peace. I didn't want anyone else there but I can't get away without having my parents, sister/husband/kids. 5 minute ceremony and then lunch down the street at a lovely restaurant.

Down the road we're thinking of having a small party at a neighborhood upscale Latin/Mexican restuarant. It's a comfortable, relaxed place with great food and nice ambiance. (They manager, who knows us, said he would even arrange for mariachis if I wanted!). It will be mostly my friends but many of them know him well and a couple of his friends from here. Hopefully his mom will get her visa soon enough and she could come too and spend a week with us. I would love to have his sister and brother and sister in law if they could all get visas but I think it's pretty unlikely. He, on the other hand, doesn't really care at all. I guess we'll end up doing something back in DF down the road with friends and family as well but one step at a time for us and we've got lots of time!

Anyway Gabacha, maybe the answer is to do something small and official with your immediate family and close friends here and then a pachanga there when you go back?

Whatever you do, I'm dying to see you two together. You crack me up and I can only imagine the dynamic between you two - it must be hilarious (which is a good, of course. We laugh all the time - it's not that hard when you throw one Mexican and one American into a serious relationship!)

I'm throwing my two cents in...

we're getting married by Elvis, in Vegas. The only way I'd agree to a wedding, and the way I knew it was meant to be (the look on his face when he found out it was a possibililty). We still haven't decided whether or not we'll invite anyone. Because the idea of being married, sloshed and dressed in gold lamé on the streets of Vegas seems too good to want to share with anyone else.

Marco can't decide how to tell his mom. He thinks she's going to be really upset, not that he's leaving, but that he's getting married and she can't be there. I personally think she'll be thrilled that he's getting married at all, as she told me she'd given up on it and just wished he'd at least have a girlfriend in the same city (I've refrained from telling her that I bought a place here and definitely won't be moving down to stay in her good graces).

So we're still not sure about any guests but will worry about that once he's here, which looks like it's going to be the last week of June!
