Hi all,

Thanks for your well wishes, prayers and support. You guys are so amazing and supportive, it is so nice to have you all on my side. I am sorry I am posting so late, and sorry everyone has been worried. Its been another very trying day, so I´ll start from the beginning.

Last night, Edgar and I printed up two more pictures (one from 2003 and another from 2006) just to prove we are, in fact, a happy couple. The 2006 picture is my aviatar picture, when we were singing karioki on my birthday. I also have an email that I sent to my best friend in 2003 stating how in love I was with Edgar, and I was so sad to returning to the US. With our new evidence in hand, we arrived at the info window at 7:30am, as instructed. As usual, there was a long line, but by 9am we were given a pass to return to the interview section of the building. There were about 100/150 people waiting for interviews, so again, we wait. At 10am, our number was called.

Let me just interject something briefly. At first, when we arrived at the interview builing, the guard told Edgar he had to enter alone. But Edgar told the guard that the window person said I could go with him (which wasnt true) so then the guard let me pass. We both knew that because Edgar was alone yesterday was The Reason he was denied. Its hard to deny evidence of a couple when the girlfriend is standing right in front of you as living proof. So, to everyone who still has to go to Juarez *fight for your right to go in the consulate with your finacee*. Like many of you have already said, we are American citizens, and we are the Petitioner, and frankly there is no reason why we shouldnt be allowed to go in with our Finaces.

So now let me jump back to our interview. We had the same man who rejected Edgar yesterday. This man is older, almost bald, with a Nazi mustache and a mean disposition. He is Mexican, not American. So anyway, we get to the window, and Edgar is litterally trembling. He was visibly nervous, knowing this is basically our only chance. So I begin to speak and essentially do all the talking. I explain to Nazi-Meanie the email and the pictures. He says to me, "most fiancees have a lot more evidence. Why dont you have evidence from 2003?" and I tell him that although we got engaged in 2003, we didnt start collecting the paperwork for the visa until 2006, and we had no idea we would need so much evidence, and most of it had been deleted or thrown away. So then he asked to see Edgar´s credencial de elector, which was another thing Edgar was lacking yesterday. (edgar didnt bring anything but the paperwork in with him to the building.) The Officer checks the credencial and says, "if you live together, why is his cancun address on the credencial?" And I say, "Sorry, Sir, but Edgar hasnt changed it yet." What else could I say? And it was the truth. (Funny thing - I made sure to bring copies of our cable bill, which is my name, because I thought they may doubt that I live with him. But never did we think that they would doubt that HE lives with ME! We didnt bring the lease, which is in Edgars name, because we didnt think we´d need it! Oh yeah, i also had my hotel paycheck stubs, to prove that I work in Playa, but again the problem was proving Edgar works in Playa!!)

So finally, the Nazi-Jerk kinda just gives up and decides to give us the visa. But I KNOW - beyond a shadow of a doubt - had I not been there with Edgar, this man would have rejected us again. I am absolutely positive of this. It was hard enough for me to convince him, and it would have been impossible for Edgar. He just did not want to approve us.

But alas, he approved us at 10:15am, but we didnt get the visa in our hand until 1pm. It took another three hours for them to prepare all of the paperwork and we finally exited the builing at 1pm.

Then we frantically went back to our hotel because we wanted to find flights back to Cancun today (unsuccessful) because I have to work tomorrow, but then we gave up after a few hours and booked another night in the hotel, and then we both took a much needed nap, and now I am updating you all of our crazy day.

So there you have it folks. I hope you do not get Nazi-####### when you go to Juarez.

Que chiiiiidddooooo!!!!!!!

Great job, Monica. So, so, so happy for you.

What a dickhead...how many Mexicans have addresses on their IFE cards from years back? I bet this giy doesn't even has his current address on his.

I've always been peeved about the fact that the petitioner isn't let into their consulate but left to wait outside. Does anyone recommend trying to get in with their partner the first go around or only if it turns ugly like it did for Monica?

It just doesn´t make sense that we aren´t allowed in. We are the Petitioner, for Christ´s sakes.

You can say that you have to pay a fee like for fingerprints or a waiver and it's your credit card. Might not work but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Certainly the Mexican fiance should mention right off the bat to the interviewer that the American is there and available. And if there are any questions or problems do what Monica did and push to get in!

Hello All,

This is my first post. I thank everyone who has posted here for sharing their experiences and insights. I have a few lingering doubts, and if anyone is kind enough to share their advice, we would certainly appreciate it.

My fiancee and I will be traveling to Juarez next week for the interview. We received the packet in November, but due to several considerations, have not gone for the interview until now. After reading Monica's horror story, I am printing out as many e-mails as I can dating back to 2001 when we started dating, as well as compiling photographs, credit card statements, phone statements, and letters from friends and family. Is there anything else that you recommend bringing as evidence of our relationship?

We had a religious ceremony in her hometown last July. Has anyone encountered any difficulties stemming from this? We made absolutely sure that the ceremony would have no legal ramifications, and no justice of the peace was present. Has this come up in anyone's interview?

Where and how do I pay for the medical exam and the interview itself? What can be paid by credit card, and what, if anything, must be paid for in cash?

In addition to the fiance visa, can and should we apply for anything else in Juarez, such as advance parole to travel?

Any other advice or resources are, of course, welcome.

Thank you and I will let everyone know how things are going.

Be very careful about how you characterize that ceremony. I'd leave out those pictures from the material you're bringing. If asked, say that you had an engagement party, but if she's wearing a lovely white dress, better not bring that picture.

My fiance has been calling me his esposa for years (when he's not calling me su vieja) but I trained him like a drill sargeant. Who am I? Mi novia. WHO AM I? MI novia. Repeat, ad nauseum.

Info on paying for the interview should be in your fiance packet...pay at Banamex, I believe. And it seems you pay in cash for the medical, but I'm sure someone will correct if I'm wrong.

Can't apply for AP in Juarez...that you can do along with AOS.

Good luck!

Your name has me confused...I assumed you're in Mass, but then the local office says Texas. Where are you?

Now that people who's cases I've been following are going to Juarez, I just want to GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

As far as I know, Mr. Stephanie is next and then us!

Mr. Stephanie hahahahahahahahhahahahhahahahaah

he flies in on June 4th. He'll hit the consulate on the 6th. I'm not going. Though if what happens with Monica goes on with us, I may have to make an emergency flight into El Paso. I hope not :( I wrote a letter stating that I don't want to leave my students this close to the end of the school year, etc. etc. so hopefully that will be enoough, plus the 65 pictures, hotel bills, at least a hundred pages of phone bills, emails, etc.

Man Monica, thank GOODNESS you went with him! Felicidades!
