Here's a question for Kit Kat, I'm sure. Has the FBI check already been completed? Do they do it right then and there in Juarez? How does that work? Not that I'm concerned, just wondering about the process. I know that someone on here had problems with a false hit, and I need something to worry about :)

They'll do fingerprints there . . . they've done a background check already and won't have to do anything more unless there is a false hit or something unusual.

What does a false hit entail? Is this common?

The name is close to someone else who has had criminal issues in the US - no, doesn't happen often but it delays the visa until they can resolve it. That's what happened to Allie and Leo.

Well, hopefully we won't have to worry about a false hit. I doubt there are many E.P. Tuz Poots floating around the US.

Believe it or not, he actually got the fiance packet yesterday! Only a month after I received mine!

Uh, no...no Poot for me. I can't begin to think of the awful pronunciation we'll have to endure. Gonna take the Tuz, though...which incidentally means lie in Maya (as in mentira, not lie down).

After seven years, I still can't pronounce Poot correctly, no matter how hard I try.

How romantic! True love at its best ... among all the Tuz and Poots. (L)

That is great news!! My finace and I also plan on living/working in NYC. How long is the work permit good for? I'm so glad all went smooth!

Monica, temp. work permits (not available in many places but JFK does seem to give them out routinely) are good for 90 days. Then if the regular EAD has not been received, he cannot continue working and has to wait for the card.

So my fiancee and I are traveling to CJ the week of July 4th. I understand that the Consulate will be closed on the 4th. What are the chances that it will be closed on any of the other days of that week? The 4th is a Wednesday, so we are looking at being there either the Monday/Tuesday or the Thursday/Friday.

AOS

Also, I am flying in El Paso. How far is the Holiday Inn Lincoln from the El Paso airport? Can anyone give me an estimated cost of a taxi ride?

One last question.... Has anyone used El Paso as the Point of Entry? Good experiences? Bad experiences?

Mucho Gracias!

I would e-mail them to confirm their holiday schedule. There's a good chance they will be closed for more than one day even though their holiday schedule indicates only Wednesday.

Taxi Charge (one way): $50.00 (USD)

Time by taxi: 20 minutes
