hi everyone,

I haven't posted in a while, probably since I'm enjoying my time with my husband (sounds funny to call him that). But now it's time to get the AOS paperwork ready. You guys don’t see me connected as much, because they restricted this site at work, and I can no longer access it from there. Sucks huh, they must have realized that I access the page all the time, pissed me off very much.

Anyway, my question for those of you that have submitted the AOS paperwork (Allie, Lucy, Kristen, Agro, Brenda, anyone else): how do you determine the annual income that will be used that you declare on the I-864 affidavit of support?

From looking at my taxes, FORM 1040 I am unsure about the amount I would put. Is it the "wages, salaries, tips etc." amount (line 7), the “total income” (line 22), or the "adjusted gross income" amount (line 37)? So I’m not sure which amount of these three to use. Which one did you guys use?

Also, another question for those who submitted AOS paperwork already. Did you guys apply for advance parole?

Thanks for the support, guys. But I talked to him last night and the passport issue is TOTALLY his fault.

When they gave him his passport, they told him to check it carefully and if everything was correct, then sign off on it.

He signed off on it. His fault. Grrr.

On a good note, I quizzed him about various things that they might ask him at the interview, and he answered them all correctly. I know you don't know him, but trust me when i say that this was incredible. He could even explain why I was in his village and what I wrote my thesis on. I didn't even know that he knew that.

I know I already asked this, but those of you who have been there lately, I'm looking at the packet requirements online, and it says DS-156K only, not the regular 156. Is this true or do I need both? I'm trying to get it together before I get everythign so that we're ready to go tout suite!

TH: while it's not listed in the docs for the fiance visa, it says on the first page that the DS-156 is required for all classes of visas. So yes, fill it out!

I'm also assuming we'll need to do the supplemental DS157 for the fellows.

K1 is a non-immigrant visa. The DS-156 is Non-Immigrant visa application so you must fill it out.

DS-156K is specific to Fiance Visas.

DS-157 is required for males between 16-45.

The CDJ Fiance packet only addresses the forms required for a Fiance. The other two are addressed on the home page. (They clearly don't want to make it easy for anyone!!!)

About how long, for those of you who have been there and done that, did it take after NVC sent the petition to the consulate for you to receive the packet at home?

It was 16 days for us, NVC received our file on October 25 and we got the package from CDJ (in the US) on November 10

Form DS-156K says we need a police certificate!!!!

Took 2 months for CDJ to send us fiance packet. Don't think they are that slow anymore though. I will count on a month.
