Felicidades!! That is really great...we are about a week behind you in the process so I hope we'll get something by the end of next week!

OK chiquitas, I finally got the "Fiance Packet. It took a little more than four weeks from the day they received the file from the NVC.

All of the paperwork in the envelope is exactly the same as on their website, but the copies are very bad and the forms are all outdated (!!!)

It's a brown 8x10 envelope with the following return address: "American Consulate General P.O. Box 10545 El Paso, TX 79995-0545

1) The letter: "This office is pleased to inform you that it can begin to process your fiance visa case. Please read and follow all of the enclosed instructions very carefully". The letter includes his case number.

2) Notice about payment of visa fee at Banamex - same as website

3) Instructions - same as website

4) Evidence to meet the public charge provision - same as website

5) Instructions for medical exam - same as website

6) DS-156 forms - "Solicitud de Visa de no immigrante" outdated and almost impossible to read

7) DS-156 form supplement" Solicitud de Visa de No-Immigrante para prometido - outdated and almost impossible to read

8) Letter of intent

I'll be scanning and emailing it to my fiance tomorrow and hope to make his flight arrangements for around two weeks from now.

congrats KitKat!! Yeah. Good Luck at the interview. I got back from Mexico late last night. Sad to be back today without my Leo. I called CDJ (900#) and still nothing concerning Leo's fingerprints. I sent a bunch of emails today to DHS, NVC, CDJ to see where the hell my case is. CDJ tells me something different every week. All guesses from phone operator - they don't know anything. Hopefully they will respond soon and I will get a better answer than just wait. I think I will contact Senator in a couple of weeks if I don't hear anything. Very happy you are on your way to the interview and your next step. Hope to see other girls get their packets soon. Allie

Allie, if you're up for it, I would contact your senator now rather than wait. Dealing with CDJ means dealing with a bunch of idiots. You cannot even imagine the email exchanges I have been through with them in the past week or two, just trying to get one simple question answered ("when was the fiance packet mailed?). It's virtually impossible to get a straight answer out of them - I think if I asked for their mailing address they would email their telephone number. They also made a mistake on his appointment letter. Instead of emailing them about it and getting even more frustrated, I called my senate contact and asked her to straighten it out. I think she'll have better luck. So I hope you'll think about having your senate contact get to the bottom of your delay so you don't have to deal with them. Sending good vibes your way!!!

Congrats KitKat. I hope whatever they messed up isn't to hard to fix. Good luck on the interview. I really hope you are able to turn in the waiver on the same day or next day. I guess we will see if the new people are already starting to help out or if they are just as slow as ever.

Kit Kat,

No we did not lie. He was on a work visa and we put that on the application. He also later tried to get a tourist visa and was denied. That was also stated on the forms. We did state the month he left and that is the same month his visa expired. I was merely asking about the actual day. We have been truthful on the forms. I was just wondering what to expect at the interview. Thanks for your help and congratulations on receiving your packet . Hopefully the rest of us will follow.:yes:

That's good news Lucy - so nothing to worry about and it will be fine at the interview! So we're all in good shape - just a little more waiting for everyone to get their packets and then off to Juarez!

Kit Kat,

Hi thanks for all the information. I am mostly concerned with what goes on at the interview and what types of questions will arise. Thanks again for all the info. Like all of you, I am so nervous and just want the whole process over. Thank you all. It is comforting to be in the company of others who are going through this same ordeal.

It looks like we are all at about the same stage. Wouldn't it be funny if we ended up in Juarez around the same time? Also, I was born and raised in El Paso and am familiar with Juarez. I just moved away from El Paso 2 years ago. For me, it will be going back home...so of course I am going to his interview. Who else plans on going? If anyone needs info. on El Paso or Juarez, I will be more than happy to help.

Hi Lucy-

I am going to the interview. I was a bit nervous about going across the border ..don't really want to walk across with my luggage...but found a taxi service out of the airport and have been in contact with them. I hope we can get reservations at the Holiday Inn - Lincoln. I also am most concerned about the interview..I'll obviously feel so much better when he has the visa in hand. Any info you have would be appreciated though. I agree; it is comforting to know that others are going through the same situation.

I'm planning on going :P

I guess we're all nervous about the interview, I've heard good and bad experiences of people going to Juarez, so I'm just hoping I get one of the nice guys from the good reviews for my interview :)

We are hoping we can go to Cd.Juarez in mid-December. I'm going to spend 6 weeks with my fiance in the US starting this Monday, and we're hoping we can go to El Paso by the time I come back.

Lucy, do you know how far the consulate is from the bridge? is it easy to get a taxi from the mexican side?

KK I'm soo excited for you!!! Are you planning on going to CDJ too?

I'm not going to CDJ although we've talked a lot about it. Since we know he has to file a waiver, it would kind of be a waste of time/money for us cause he won't be coming home with me. But I go to DF a lot and I'd rather spend my time there with him - depending on what happens workwise in the next month or so, I'll try to spend a few months there - better to be there in the winter than here!

I'm sure Lucy will post some helpful info about taxis, etc but I would not be concerned about getting from the airport, etc. There are zillions of people doing it daily - just make sure you discuss/agree to a rate on the taxi in advance!!!

I contacted Senators Office today - hopefully they will be able to find some answers for me. Keeping my fingers crossed.

A note for ones going to interview - make sure to bring original copies of paycheck stubs. They asked Leo for that. I was happy I gave him originals. They also asked him for copy of most recent W2. Before Leo went for his interview I went down to organize all the stuff for him and labeled in file folders - passport, birthcertificate, pictures, evidence of relationship, financial stuff, etc. They noticed at interview how organized it was. It seemed to help. Let me know if anyone has any question about medical or interview.
