Thanks for the info Allie. I looked up the doctors on the uscis website and there are tons close by, so I am not worried anymore. B)

Efrain has been going to English classes every day through the local public adult school....LOVES it, and is making improvements to his spoken and written English by leaps and bounds. He tells me that people in his class ask him for help, because he knows more....haha...it's so cute. And I am glad that he has something to do, and that he has the time to improve his English. It's a great program, that you should all look up in your area to see if it's available.

We rented an apartment and will be moving in April 28. We are so excited. We will be legally married by that time, so that's exciting....and this weekend we are going to nail down a date for the wedding/party that we are going to plan here in the US. I have never been really into planning a wedding....more into planning the party!...so we'll see. ;) The best part is that he's already here.... and I almost feel already married since we all make such a commitment just to go through this process...Don't you think?

Anyway, I am at work and should get back to it. It's hard to concentrate on Fridays! Have a great weekend!!!!!

Sounds like things are going wonderfully for you two! How exciting!

What else is he doing to keep himself busy?

I'm going to get Edgar into day classes which are 4 or 5 hours and my dad has already decided that he's going to teach him to fly fish. I'm interested in hearing how he feels about the conecpt of catch and release.

I hope I can convince him to volunteer, but this idea is a little weird for him: "Entonces, trabajo y no me pagan?" "Pues, si." "No SIRVE!". I've got a bit more work to do on that one.

Una preguntita: hacen antidopin durante el examen medico? Estoy viendo que habian negado visas por eso, pero no se si hagan la prueba o solo preguntan.

Si hacen la prueba y lo preguntan.

Congrats Allie, another bunch of tramites completed! I'm trying to get started on AOS before my wedding and it's a SLOW start...

Vacunas are driving me crazy!

Anyone have experience trying to use the Registro Individual de Inmunizaciones del Issste. It's AMAZING that my guy still has the original vaccination card and I thought I was doing a good thing making him bring it from Mexico. But I talked to a civil surgeon that said it wasn't valid  Just wondering if this is the situation or should I shop around for doctors (like in the barrio Mexico maybe).

Hello! Roberto and I are doing great! We were legally married over 2 weeks ago and love living together in our apartment. His parents came for the civil ceremony and it was the first time they met my parents. It was interesting because at my house we speak Polish and of course my parents speak English too, but Roberto's mom does not speak English so we did have to do a lot of translating between the three languages. In the end, it all worked out and both sides of the family were extremely pleased with the visit and the wedding. Now I am back to wedding planning full swing for the big religious wedding this summer. :D

We are almost done with the AOS/EAD paperwork. Roberto has no records of his vaccinations in Mexico so I took him to my family doctor (Roberto is now under my insurance since we are married). It was all free with my family doctor because he is in the network under my insurance. Roberto got the Hep B and Tetanus booster shots since the doc said it is always good to have those, and he had titers done for all the rest to check if he has the antibodies and to prove that he did have some of these shots done in Mexico. If any of the titres turn out negative, he'll have to get the vaccines, but I think we can take care of that within the next couple of weeks and send off our paperwork.

We are still debating whether we should apply for Advance Parole. On the AP paperwork it asks when our proposed travel date would be, but we don't have one. We just wanted to apply for AP in case he has to leave the country (his grandmother is 98 and he may have to go back at some point if necessary), but we do not have any trips planned. Should we hold off on applying and see if we get the green card quickly. We can always apply later right?

Hope everyone is doing well! I need to get back to work... I will comment on some of the other posts later.

I brought my "Constancia Internacional de Vacunación" from the local "Centro de Salud" in my hometown showing the vaccinations and the date I had taken them, and I found a CS here in Michigan whose Secretary speaks Spanish and had no problem getting the information from it for the I-693A. He charged me $40 for it. So maybe it's just a matter of doing some "calling around" to see if you find one in your area that it is willing to accept it.

Good luck!

Congratz Agnie and Roberto! That is so great that it worked out with your families!

In just a few weeks we're having our civil ceremony and a party. Hugo's mom, sister, nephew, brother, sister-in-law, and niece are all coming from Oaxaca! So much for simple!! The good thing is our families already know each other.

We are going to apply for "Advanced parole". I recommend it for peace of mind. We're doing it partially because we plan on having our "real" wedding in Oaxaca some time next year, but also because Hugo has a big close family - people get sick, born, married, all the time. He would hate for something to happen and not be able to go back because of immigration status.

I brought my "Constancia Internacional de Vacunación" from the local "Centro de Salud" in my hometown showing the vaccinations and the date I had taken them, and I found a CS here in Michigan whose Secretary speaks Spanish and had no problem getting the information from it for the I-693A. Good luck!

Thanks, you're absolutely right - I'll keep looking. I guess I just had bad luck - I'm always surprised when someone treats me like I'm the first person to try to do this. AOS freak out moment over...
