Kristen_y_Efrain - CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm so excited for you! :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Janet and Edgar - "just fill out the G-325A (it's 4 pages) and sign it" Good luck!

Roberto has been here over a week now! Right before he came some people from work threw me a bachelorette party on the same night he had his bachelor/going away party in Mexico so that was our last wild night out! I can't believe our civil wedding is next week!! I am taking tomorrow off work to get our marriage license, social security number and pack because on Saturday we are moving into our own apartment!!! wooooohooooooo!!!

I hope we don't have any problems getting the SS card. Any tips? On the SS application form question #3 you have to check either Legal Alien Allowed to Work or Legal Alien NOT allowed to work in which case you have to provide proof of why you are getting the SS number for reasons other than work. So should we check the allowed to work box since K1s are "authorized to work" but can't without the stamp? I'm afraid that if we check the other one, they will ask for supporting evidence as to why he needs a SS number other than work. Aghhh... back to stressing about things lol. At least we are together at last. Any help on this SSN would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

This is such a cheerful place lately, it's nice that visas are working out for everyone

It's been 3 weeks since Juarez so I've had a nice break from Visa stuff

Now it's time to get back to work!!! We're going to SS office this week. Good advice on VJ so I'm not to worried about this step.

Then I guess I'll start on the AOS paperwork. Cutie, Agnie, Brenda who else is working of AOS?

Well I too am working on AOS. We actually have our interview this month on the 22nd. If everything goes well, he can get a stamp on his passport and receive his card within a matter of weeks. I have learned a lot of the AOS process. For one thing, not everyone gets interviewed. It is not a good or bad thing. It is just a luck of the draw. I was amazed as to how quickly it has all gone. I sent everything off Feb. 2, it has been lightning fast. If you don't get interviewed it could be as quick as 2 or 3 months or even longer if stuck in name check. Yes, at this point too many get stuck in name check (even if they didn't during K1). Good luck to all and congratualtions to everyone getting approved!

Thanks Lucy! I am sure that I will have some questions when I start filling out all of that paperwork. We just moved into our apartment and so far everything is great! I have a funny story I thought you might all enjoy.. it's funny now but was not so entertaining at the moment.

I went to Bed Bath & Beyond with Roberto to buy more things for our apartment and it was freezing cold outside. First thing I did when getting into the store was go to the bathroom. Well after I went, when I was pulling up my pants, my engagement ring slipped off my finger (that has never happened before, it fits perfectly) and fell right into the hole in the toilet!!!! :o I screamed because I couldn't see it under the toilet paper and some lady and Roberto came running in. She looked at him like "why are you in the women's bathroom" and as soon as I told them what happened, Roberto took off his jacket and stuck his arm into the toilet rescuing my ring with a bunch of toilet paper attached. What a superhero! :P Thank God it didn't actually go down and that it was not an automatic flush toilet. The lady just kept laughing and saying "don't worry you'll still get married even without the ring" and "I wish I had a camera so that you could play this at your wedding." I'm just happy my goregous ring didn't go down... lesson to be learned: when it's cold outside and your ring gets loose on your finger, clench your fists when pulling up your pants. (or just take it off so that you don't risk losing it).

I really don't know how to follow that post by AgRo....sounds like true love to me! ;)

I'm sorry that I have been lazy about writing about our experience in CDJ....Efrain has been busy meeting my family for the FIRST time, and I have 4 days worth of work to catch up on....but here it goes:

We arrived at the Consulate on Tuesday at about 7:15am. We weren't the first in line, but not the last....just about in the middle. We waited like 20 minutes, and then they started letting people in. He had to show the letter at the door to be allowed in. He had the paperwork in a plastic expandable file, and he was wearing a belt, and it was no problem.

Once inside, he tells me that it went pretty fast. He actually said that he would have been out and finished by about 1pm if they hadn't had a problem printing the visas...which I will get to in a minute. Anyway, he was called to present the paperwork and was glad that we had gone through everything so he knew what it was.

They took:

DS-156 and copy

DS-157 and copy

DS-156K

His birth certificate (kept copy, gave him back original)

I-134 for me (with tax forms from 2006, copies of W-2's from 2006, Bank statement I printed off of internet)

Did NOT Take my co-sponsor's info. (I had one because I was only making enough money in 2006, not before, and I wasn't sure if it was going to be OK, but they said it was fine.)

They did NOT take any more relationship proof stuff. They said that what we had submitted with the petition was enough.

And I am still not 100% sure, but I don't think they asked for that form in the packet that says you will get married in 90 days. Efrain doesn't remember signing it, but said that it went so fast he can't be 100%sure.

Anyway, after that he waited only like 1 hour and they called him for his interview. They asked him 3 questions:

WHo is petitioning you for this visa?

Where does she live? (he gave city, state)

What is her job? (he gave a simple answer that I had coached him to say because it matched what I wrote on the forms)

And that's it! They told him his visa was approved and he should wait for his number to be called.

After an hour, they sent him out to get lunch and told him to come back in an hour because they were having trouble printing the visa.

When he came back, they told him he would have to come back the next day (Wednesday) and gave him a blue appointment sheet for 10am Wednesday morning.

That part sucked because I had to change all of our flights and it cost us $300, but looking back it was totally worth it!

We went back Wednesday and he was out within the hour with the visa in hand!

POE:

We crossed the border in El Paso at the Paso del Norte Bridge. It's not the main bridge, and it was a little out of the way from our hotel, but I think the wait was shorter in the taxi than it would have been at the Cordova Bridge. Anyway we had a taxi take us to the border and wait for us on the other side. This gets me to the worst part of our whole experience...Immigration. We waited for about 2 hours, and there was one person in front of us. They were all just milling around in back, and ignoring everyone in an ever-increasing line. Then they sent Efrain to wait in a different place, helped everyone else, and then argued amonst themselves about why he was still sitting there. What's that all about?

Anyway, in the end, it was fine, we made it through, and have been enjoying being finally together! I am sorry if this seems rushed (it is) but, I wanted to get it down before I forgot. I will ask him tonight if I missed anything, or if anyone wants more explanation about any part, let me know!

Hi everyone,

Glad to see everyone is moving along great. I'm counting down the days until I head on out to Mexico and bring back my Juan with me.

Do we have any others headed to Juarez soon? I think the rest of our Juarez buddies are waiting for NOA2 right?

Does anyone know what happened to Jamie or Louisa? It's sad they don't post anything on VJ anymore, :( . I'm thinking Jamie really did go live with Oliverio in Mexico. Does anyone have any news of either of them?
