Goodmorning,

So i promised a post and will try to put together a report here with as much information as Uriel gave me.

Then i have a very important question.

They asked all the expected questions that we've all seen come across here. They only asked for my financial info, no co-sponsor info. They asked many times if he'd done drugs or been in the US before. Uriel said the CO was very nice. He then had to wait about 2 hours and they gave him the Visa.

They told him to go to the border crossing and all of that stuff. I had forgotten to tell him about that, so he went there and then when he got there they told him no, to present the info in Chicago. Silly....

So nothing really different. Prices the same, etc.

So... HERE IS THE IMPORTANT QUESTION: Uriel will be flying Aeromexico from Hermosillo/Mexico City/Chicago. So his POE will be Chicago. Any suggestions or pointeres for there? ALSO... HOW DO WE FIND HIM IN CHICAGO? Usually we just tell people to meet us at baggage claim, but he will have already claimed baggage at customs/immigration right? He's never been here and will be confused and i don't believe we can meet him in immigration/customs?

Help.... !!!!!

This is sooooooo exciting! I need a nap now!

Thanks!

Danielle :help:

Danielle, in Chicago I assume he will be flying into the international terminal (#5) on Mexicana? Double check where he arrives. If that is the case, he will first wait in line to go through immigration - is should be very fast and no problems or at least that's what I have been told by the officers there. Then he will exit immigration to get his luggage and pass through customs. Once finished, he will exit through two big doors that open to a very large waiting area. You'll wait there and will see him coming out.

Good luck!

I have an idea Danielle. If I were you, I would make this gigantic sign that says BIENVENIDO URIEL and take with me to the airport. I've done that for family members when they come back to Los Angeles after trips. Last summer, I made a huge sign for my sister that said WELCOME HOME after she came back from studying abroad in Spain. Believe me, she kind of got embarrassed but it was funny to see every single person when they arrived, they would look at my sign. At least 300 people saw it, until my sister finally came out. Also, my sister noticed it right away. So, I think you can do this if you're worried about Uriel finding you at the airport, it will definately let him find you in a second.

Danielle,

Another option for you is to have him fly out of Hermosillo on United Airlines. It is one of the only airlines that flys in and out of Hermosillo. I have used them to Phoenix. The fare to Chicago is $447 on a weekend. I believe it is also a direct flight. Congratulations :)

we booked a flight from Hermosillo, transfering in Mexico City, then direct to Chicago. On AeroMexico. Ended up paying $378!

Good to know that we can go into terminal 5 and not have to have him traipsing thru the whole airport looking for us, I think we'll make a sign too... just for the fun of it!

He's coming on Friday night! YYAYAYAYYAAYYAY

Thanks so so so much for all the help. And good luck to all who are coming up next week.

And... found out that the hotel he stayed at was called Holel Chavel.

hugs to all!

Yayyyyy, congratulations Danielle!!!! :D:D

Since we are on the topic of POEs, I found this website that lists some K-1 visa immigrants' POEs and whether they got work authorization or not. http://www.k1poelist.com/k1poelist.cgi It is pretty old, but there have been some recent entries. The point is, I think it would be cool to keep something like this up, whether it is on that website or on VJ. I know KitKat said that these days only the JFK airport gives work authorization, which may be true, but it's also helpful to see how long people spent at the airport to be processed.

Also, another link on that website led me to http://www.k1poelist.com/k1poelist/help.html which is pretty good at explaining Social Security Number experiences (again a little outdated - but would be cool to keep up).

We are soooo ready for the interview next week!! If all goes well, my fiance will probably move here on President's Day - February 19th!! Counting down the days!!! :P

Yeah, I remember that too, if it wasn't for the IMBRA fiasco we would have been married for almost 6 months now. We were just 4 days late to avoid it!

Anyway, we are finally going to do it and we're really happy :) I'm hopping everything goes smooth at the bridge tomorrow, they didin't seem to be too familiar with K1's from what I've asked them in the past and also from a couple of posts that I saw here, but I'm trying to stay positive ^_^

I know Detroit is really cold now.... and today it was so warm here I even had my car's A/C on B)

So we'll be swtiching places for a bit - I'll be in DF with warm sunny days but chilly nights with no heat with my fiance, and you'll be in Detroit with cold days and night but with heat and with the heat of your almost-husband!!!

I think all will be smooth at the bridge since there's not much to do. Let us know how it goes and safe travels!

(If it wasn't for IMBRA I bet he'd be home by now too - we lost about 5 months during the time that waivers were being processing in 4 months!)

First of all a BIG Congratulations to Danielle and Emma.

I haven't been around because I lost my internet connection and I can't log in at work. I am finally now reconnected!

We had our interview yesterday. Well I didn't go but everything went well. He was approved to file the waiver and has to go back Feb 22 at 11 am to turn that in. I've almost finished my hardship letter I just have to change one part of it because I don't like it. I also want more evidence to go with it. I just never seem to have time but now I have a deadline so I will just have to make time somehow to finish it.

Kit Kat

I can't seem to get into immigrate2us.net. Well I can get in but half of the time I can't open the pages. I have some questions of how to fill out the I-601 and I'm trying to see if wait times have changed any but I'm not getting anywhere. My fiance is suppose to be faxing me a copy of the I-601 Sunday because I couldn't understand some of the questions and I was hoping if I could see it myself it would help a little. Anyways do you know if it is my computer or if something is wrong with the immigrate2us site

I will try to go back and catch up on what is going on but it is after 1 am now so I should be getting to bed. It is sure great to be back though.

When were you trying to get onto I2US? It was down from Sat morning until I think Tues afternoon. Since then it`s been working for the most part, but I couldn`t get on for a little while this evening. Congratulations on your fiance`s interview. Happy reunions for everyone else. It looks like it`s busy season for the border!
