hopefully somone in the Juarez section can help me out... i just received my letter from the juarez consulate and said i have an open appointment.

i applied for a fiancee visa. My noa2 states it is valid from 11-6-2006 to 3-5-2007. We would like to go to the interview in mid march, so i can be there in support. But according to the noa2 it is only valid until march 5. I contacted uscis i the person helping me was confused . I am still waiting to hear from the nvc. Does anyone know what the deadline of march 5 means? does my fiancee have to go to the interview before then? Or does it mean she has to enter the u.s. by march 5. i seen there was a form posted to file an extension, but if so where does it go to?

thanks, any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

The NOA2 needs to be current (not expired) at the time of the interview. My understanding is that you can ask the consulate for an extension, but that is up to the CO to approve it = not exactly guaranteed.

I have not heard of any CDJ cases doing this, since you don't have to wait that long after NOA2 for the interview like other consulates that have long waiting times for appointments. But I did read a couple of months ago about a case -in another country/consulate- where the CO didn't approve the extension. That is not saying they won't approve it, they usually do from what I've read here, but with so many inconsistencies coming from CDJ I personally wouldn't risk it, specially if you are not 100% sure that your case is straight forward to begin with (meaning no potential "red flags" are present).

WOW chikimyrn, now that was one quick approval. I think you may hold one of the quickest approval records for VJ, or at least the quickest one I have seen. Hopefully everything goes by fast for you!

I hope it keeps going quickly....however, I've e-mailed CDJ and they still do not have our file. I know it may be too soon so i'm realistically expecting to get the packet in early march. I hope its not longer than that. My feelings are mixed...the sooner the better.....but then separation.....we have to file a waiver. My fiance sometimes just wants to get married and then deal with everything later...then rethinks and agrees that this is better for us.....anyway....we're waiting....

Thanks for updating the spreadsheet Allie!

tgkc168 - I live in Indiana too! I hope you can get your NOA2 extended, but don't risk it if it looks like they can't extend it.

My fiance called the Consulate today, and they apologized for a long time saying that they have had trouble with their computer system and processing for many couples has been delayed. Our case is still not registered, but they said they will make it a priority since 8 weeks have passed from the time the NVC sent it. They said the first week of February at the latest they would send the packet, and it takes 3 weeks max to receive it. If this is true, our interview will be toward the end of February (a whole month later than we expected!! ) At least we know they have our case in mind. I hope we start seeing some packets arrive soon!

Good luck UCLA Cutie at your upcoming interview!! Hopefully it's another approval to add to our spreadsheet!

That Spreadsheet is great. I FINALLY finished reading all the back posts. I wish I had done this earlier because ALL of my questions were answered. So many of you have been so patient (i.e Kit Kat) answering the same questions - I'm working on a CDJ FAQ for a friend and when I finish it I'll post it here for new people.

My update: Lots of communication to Juarez. I got phone confirmation yesterday that my packet had been sent and should arrive before Feb. 19th. I got an email today "Yes your packet was sent to the following address..." So that's good enough for me! I decided today not to sit around and wait for the packet and to go ahead and make my travel arrangements for Feb. 11 - 14. So if it doesn't come in the next two weeks I may be the first one in a while to try out picking up the appointment letter at the info window. Since I'm starting a new job after that week it may be my only chance to go with him to the interview. My friends and family think I'm crazy, but they haven't talked to the idiots at CDJ. I have no confidence the packet will even get here.

Anyway just wanted to put it out there that we're going for it! Tomorrow I'll book the Holiday Inn, his ticket to Ciudad Juarez, and mine to El Paso. Oh and need to get out the real winter clothes 'cause I hear it's, ummm snowing??

Can't wait for your report UCLA-cutie, you seem more prepared than anyone! Good luck

So forget everything I said above about taking a risk...I GOT MY PACKET this morning.  I think CDJ was listening to me talk bad about them. Anyway I guess when they tell you they sent it (by phone and email) they mean it. And when they told me it takes 3 -4 weeks they mean to get to beneficiary in Mexico.

I'm going to make my reservations for the trip. It should be a good valentines day!

Any word for you AgRo?

That's great Cassandra!! You got it so quickly! I'm really happy for you! At the same time I can't believe you have your packet already and they still haven't "received" my case, and it was sent to them a month before yours. I guess I am just unlucky. I hope they process mine soon though, I am getting reaaaally impatient. I'm glad my fiance is doing all the communicating with the consulate now because I think I would start taking my frustration out on them. I'm hoping that next week they send my packet! Just wanted to let everyone know that I am back home. Ivonne got her visa although the first lady that she came across that wanted all of her papers made her very nervous. She told her that everything was wrong but then went ahead and sent her for her fingerprints. The actual interviewer was very nice and she was approved. He just asked her a few questions like how did we meet, which he did raise his eyebrow when she told him that we met in the US, but she was a foreign exchange student with a visa, so he was happy about that. He made a joking comment about her being 9 yrs older than me but the whole interview only lasted 5 minutes. She had visa in hand by 3:00. She got there at about 7:30am. The medical went just as smooth. They just asked in about 5 different ways if she had had any kids. She has had surgery which left a scar almost as if she had had a C-section. We stayed at the Holiday Inn - Lincoln. Felix there was very nice so if you go there -- say "hi" to Felix for us! Ivonne owns her own business in Queretaro, so she has to finish up a few projects there before we get married. We are looking now at July 14th. She has to be in the States by July 22nd. Good Luck to everyone else!

Hello girls!! :star:

Who is going to Juárez? Good luck to everyone! ALE!! Im thinking of you..

Im in New York City!! I got here last tuesday.. it’s frezzzzing!

At POE= JFK

Immigration officer received the brown envelope from CDJ and checked all pages.. (I noticed the package contained almost all 129F, evidence, pictures, aff. of support, and a lots of papers from CDJ, every page is sealed at the bottom)

She did not take a picture of me or fingerprints as they do with visitors. (10 minutes)

Then she sent me to a little immigration office with a new folder in my hand (again package from CDJ) they received it and I just waited for 5 minutes to be called. They did not ask anything.. they just told me I have 90 days to get married, I have to AOS and that I have authorization to work!! Work permit is sealed on the back of my I-94 stapled to passport.

I went yesterday for my SS# and they have my last immigration record as a tourist (B2visa-2003). So I was told to wait about 10 days to get into the system as a K1 and come back to get the SS#.

I’ve missed you guys!

Good luck to everybody..

Brenda :innocent:

Thanks Brenda!

I've tried to stay away from VJ for the past couple of days because the more I'm on, the more I worry about Juan's interview. I know it's getting closer and closer until the date. It's funny that we have waited for such a long time for this day to come and now that it's here, I wish that we had more time to wait. Right now I'm waiting for him to connect on messenger, so that we can say goodbye. He heads out to Juarez tomorrow.

I have been so nervous this past week, I can't concentrate, I can't sleep, I hardly eat. Oh yeah, and I also came down with a very bad case of the flu. My family tells me that it's cause I'm worrying too much, but I just can't help myself. :( So, I've been in bed since Friday. I even came home early from work on Friday since I was feeling very sick.

I wish this week was over already!

I will let everyone know of what happens as my fiance reports back.

Thanks Allie!

Hi everyone,

This has definitely been THE MOST stressful time of my life! I can’t wait for this week to be over. My fiancé is currently waiting to be called for his physical or may actually be doing his physical as I’m typing this. The last text message I received from him (about an hour ago), he was waiting to be attended in the clinic. He said that they needed the chest x-ray and the physical. He was really worried because he said that everyone was talking about which vaccines they were going to receive. He was worried, even after I told him a million times that he was not taking the vaccines in Juarez, that he would get them in the U.S. But oh well, he’s probably pretty nervous and just needed reassurance.

I didn’t get much sleep last night. I continued waking up about every hour and thinking to myself what my Juan was doing. I was like, by this time he should have woken up, by this time he should be getting ready, by this time he should be in line at the clinic. I feel like I am going crazy. I didn’t eat much in the morning because I felt like I was going to throw up. Writing to you guys makes me feel better, so that’s why I’m doing it. I was actually thinking about calling in sick today because of how I felt. But I’m glad that I didn’t because being here at work, helps me keep my mind off of what’s happening to my fiancé in Juarez.

Hey all,

I have a couple of questions, what is the process for the I-601, My fiancee went to her interview on Jan. 10,

She FORGOT  the hardship letter and documentation. She turned in the I-601 waiver, and

had her finger prints taken. I sent in the hardship letter and CDJ recieved it Jan 22. If I e-mail CDJ will they be

able to tell me if my HSL caught up with my waiver?

Does anyone know if the additional help in CDJ has sped up the I-601's.

Thanks

Pat

I have a question for you guys. My fiancé wants to know what line he is supposed to line up in at the consulate. He said that in the consulate there is two lines. There is a line for “visa immigrant” and another one that says “visa residentes”. That’s what he asked in a text message, so I'm not sure if it's making sense. Is it the immigrant line he lines up in? Sorry guys, but you know how much I worry. Thanks
