Hello, no news for me yet, but I wanted to ask a quick question for those who already went to the interview. I noticed that they asked Brenda where her fiance was during the interview, and many went with their fiance to CDJ (even though I know the fiance cannot enter the Consulate). My fiance thinks that if I go it will show that I support him and if I don't go it seems like I don't support him and he may not get the visa. I don't think this is true, and I may have trouble going because of work. Would you suggest that I go because it could help him get the visa, or is it really unnecessary and has no effect on my fiance getting the visa?

Thank you!

Agnieszka

I posted our details earlier, but here is my answer to some of the most recent asked questions.

My fiance went to the medical office right next door to the consulate. They claimed to open at 6:30, but didn't open the doors until 7.......As far as service, they were great. They took him in at 7:15 and he was out by 9:30............They asked him several basic questions....Have you used drugs, alcohol? Do you have any tattoos? Real basic questions and asked really fast....Literally only enough time to answer yes or no. I will tell you that if your fiance has tattoos, they will possibly make them take a pee test. They made my fiance take one after he answered yes to a tattoo.......They did a quick examination of all areas, nothing bad. An x-ray and that was it.....

We stayed in the Holiday Inn Lincoln and it was great. We have NO negative comments about this hotel....my fiance loved it, because there was a workout room for him. I saw the Hotel La Playa and am glad that we picked our hotel instead. Directly across the street from the Holiday Inn Lincoln is a great taco restaurant. The hotel concierge is great with food tips.....

I went with my fiance to the interview and stayed in the hotel the entire time. They did ask him where I was and he told them that I stayed in the hotel room. I don't think it really matters much to them, but it did matter to my fiance and kept him relaxed. I think if you can go and support your fiance that is great, but don't beat yourself up if it is just not possible.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!

Stayed at Fiesta Inn - both trips. Business hotel - really nice. Walking distance to mall and some restaurants.

It would be a 10 minute walk. Took cab to consulate in morning - 50 pesos. They have computer lab, fax machines etc if you need it.

I did not go with Leo to first appointment. Although we didn't think there was a need for second appointment. At his first interview they didn't ask him if I was outside or where I was at that time. Although I have heard some people say they have asked where fiance's are. Should not make a difference if you are there or not. I know some people who could not get off work have sent a letter with their fiance's explaining why they are not there. You might do that.

I went for Visa pick up date because I wanted to be there just in case something went wrong and we crossed the border together that day.

AgRo - I hope your packet is mailed this week!

UCLA- your interview is next week!! YEAH!!!!!

Leo and I are doing really well!!! He met some family & friends over the weekend. It was so nice to finally introduce him to everyone.

Agnieszka,

If it makes you feel any better, I won't be going with my fiance with him to his interview. But I followed kitkat's advice and included a signed and dated affidavit from me. In the affidavit, I stated that I did not attend my fiance's interview because of work obligations, financial considerations, etc. I also stated that my absence should not be interpreted as a lack of support to marry my fiance, etc. It was very short, simply explaining why I could not be there. My fiance is taking it with him to Juarez, although he probably won't need it. But it makes me feel better knowing that he has it, in case they question him about my whereabouts.

Congratulations Brenda. Thanks for the awesome details of your Juarez experience! I will have to read up on those again in hopefully a few months!

On my side, it's not as big of news as Brenda but I finally received my NOA1. I guess now I have to cross my fingers for no RFE's and play the waiting game. But I get to see my fiancee on Thursday. It really sucks for my work to send me to Mexico (lol).

Thanks for such a complete description Brenda! Congrats!

Agnieszka I still haven't received my packet either. I called and now they said they haven't received my case  but I could tell that the person had no idea what they were talking about so I'm just going to pretend like that phone call didn't happen

My fiance goes back to Oaxaca on Monday and I don't want to let him go without knowing when he will be able to have his interview! But it looks like I will be able to accompany him in Juarez. :)

Originally I wasn't going to go and I wasn't stressing it too much in terms of actually getting the visa, it's just nice to be able to support. I know when we went to get his tourist visa that was very important (for us personally).

Started our visa journey applying for K-1: Oct 11, 2006

Married: Apr 13 2007

I feel my work here is done!!!

:luv:

KitKat, I'm always reading here in VJ and I2US and have noticed your post lately. I just wanted to let you know how helpful your research and answers have been through this process. since I am still way behind most of you I've copied and saved alot of info that may be helpful in the future when CDJ gets to my file. Anyway just wanted to say thanks and hope to keep reading and learning from your timeline. I'm also anxiously waiting for a response about your fiances waiver, so I could have a "real" idea and reasonable expectations. Right now, I'm researching the options of moving to Mexico at least temporarily and in the meantime enjoying the time left with fiance.......anyway thanks...That's all.

Thanks - that was very sweet and much appreciated! I'll still checking in here and there, but like you said, so much of what I have learned has been posted in both places so it's available for those who need it. I found a lot of help here (especially during the IMBRA fiasco) and I do believe in paying it forward! Best of luck to you and your fiance.

WOW chikimyrn, now that was one quick approval. I think you may hold one of the quickest approval records for VJ, or at least the quickest one I have seen. Hopefully everything goes by fast for you!

hopefully somone in the Juarez section can help me out... i just received my letter from the juarez consulate and said i have an open appointment.

i applied for a fiancee visa. My noa2 states it is valid from 11-6-2006 to 3-5-2007. We would like to go to the interview in mid march, so i can be there in support. But according to the noa2 it is only valid until march 5. I contacted uscis i the person helping me was confused . I am still waiting to hear from the nvc. Does anyone know what the deadline of march 5 means? does my fiancee have to go to the interview before then? Or does it mean she has to enter the u.s. by march 5. i seen there was a form posted to file an extension, but if so where does it go to?

thanks, any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

You need to have your interview prior to March 5. When they issue you your K-1 visa, then you will have I believe 6 months to actually enter the U.S. After entering the U.S. you will have 90 days to marry.....

You may be able to get an extension on your NOA2 dates, however, I don't know who to contact about that....Most of us are so excited to get to the interview that we never have a problem with the available time frame! hahahaha

If you cannot get there before March 5, email the consulate directly to request they extend the petition. Since your petition is there, USCIS and NVC cannot help you now - it's out of their hands.
