Hello juarez club – so glad I found you! I’m almost through all your communication – it’s good reading

I’m Cassandra – back in the process and as confused as ever... My fiancé is from Oaxaca, where we’ve been living together for a few years. I recently moved home to California and he came with me (on a tourist visa). We were approved much sooner than I thought (thanks to my complete petition - due to all the great advice from this sight). Since Oaxaca is mighty far and he has until May on his tourist visa, I think the new “plan” is for him to stay here until we go to the interview together, traveling San Francisco to El Paso. This depends on getting our packet and letter soonish. I’ve emailed both NVC and CDJ to see if it was sent/ received.

Meanwhile I need to get my stuff together so I’m ready when I get the go ahead. I’ve done my research, I even have a useless book, but I’m still confused about the following CDJ specific info. Please help :help:

The medical exams: which vaccinations did people need? My chico is 33 and doesn’t have his card – might have to get it sent from Oaxaca.

The Public charge provision: CDJ website doesn’t mention a form for Fiancé (and apparently the I-864 for other categories) but everyone is talking about submitting I-134, I missed something! I have a Co-sponsor, but not sure what I need from her.

Notarizing stuff: Do I sign the intent to marry form and then have it notarized?

Does anyone have a checklist of stuff they took to their interview at CDJ specifically? Would so appreciate it!

Welcome to our CDJ group, it’s great to see that it’s growing.

I have a question for your guys. How did you guys organize your evidence of relationship for the interview? My fiance had all the evidence ready in a 1 1/2 inch binder organized all neatly with tabs indicating what is where, but Emma's experience in Juarez scared me. THey took away her photo album because it contained a metal frame. Well, the folder my fiance is using for our evidence also has a metal frame. How terrible, I don't want them to take it away from him! I know if needed he can go back and pick it up, but do you guys honestly think the CO will want to waste time on that?!? He/she will probably base their decision on what my fiance shows him/her in that exact moment. THey probably won't let him go back to get the binder. Sooooooooo, I was wondering how you guys organized your evidence of relationship to present to Juarez.

I used file folders and labeled them different categories (financials, evidence of relationship, passports/bc, applications, etc.) and then put individual folders in an expandable folder. Hope that makes sense. Leo carried photo albums in addition. i don't believe the one he took had any metal.

welcome new members to CDJ group. We are here to help!!!

Can't believe Jan 11th is almost here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cassandra - vaccinations are not required for K1 visas at CDJ. I didn't use a cosponsor but I would think to request same info as your own - W2's and maybe notorized letter stating willingness to support. CDJ does not require to submit 134 but a lot of people do it anyways for ease of use. I did not use that form. Maybe someone else here who used cosponsor can help out more. Do not sign any applications or intent to marry - you will sign them in front of consular at interview. There are instructions in your fiance packet that you will receive. Instructions are on website and you can go ahead and print off forms and then complete on-line DS156 and supplement. Don't sign anything though. Read couple posts back and KK posted fiance packet link.

Good luck!

I've got a question for you all. Has anyone experienced going through the Nogales border? My fiancee likes to drive to Tucson occasionally. Will they allow her to travel in the US while our paperwork is getting processed? I'm going to be with her the weekend of Jan 27th and we are driving to Tucson. I'm a little nervous. Any horror stories from people on here? Any tips/tricks?

Thanks! You guys and gals ROCK!

BTW, I am sooooo impatient. I am still waiting for my check to clear. It's been 4 days since I sent my package in. Just joking. This whole process is going to drive me crazy.

Never gone thru Nogales but with any POE - your fiancee will have to have strong ties to Mexico to prove that she will go back. I have heard people use employment letter, mortgage, leases, return ticket home. If she has a tourist visa that she presents at border they might not ask any questions but if they do be honest and be prepared to prove her ties to Mexico and return trip back.

Welcome to our grup Kristen & Cassandra! (F) wow we're still growing!

The medical exams: which vaccinations did people need? My chico is 33 and doesn’t have his card – might have to get it sent from Oaxaca.

No vaccinations are needed for K1 visas. He WILL need them later when he sends his AOS submission though, so he could try getting them in Mexico at a "centro de salud" before the AOS process starts if he wants to save some money, but they are not required to get the K1 visa.

CDJ doesn't require either one of the forms for K1 visas, but it might be a good idea for you to have one since you'll have a co-sponsor.

I didn't get anything notarized, my fiance just signed and dated the VJ intent to marry form I submitted; but the I-134 needs to be notarized if you are submitting it.

Does anyone have a checklist of stuff they took to their interview at CDJ specifically? Would so appreciate it!

KK's link for the fiancee packet has the letter CDJ sends with the list of documents they require. I took all of them: 2 Ds-156, 2 Ds-156K, passport, 2 passport photos-make sure they are US passport size, my original and copy of birth certificate, statement of intent to marry- CDJ's format for me and VJ format for him, plus the financial information from my fiance: letter from employer, letter from bank, and 3 paystubs. I had tax transcripts, bank statements, 401K statements, house valuation and mortgage statements and stock ownership statements with me AND the I-134 signed by him, but I didn't turn them in and they didn't ask for them either. Oh, I also took pictures of us from different times we had seen each other, including some with his and my family, and a copy of my engagement ring's receipt as proof of our relationship, but they didn't want to see any of them either.

I took one folder with the initial documentation in it (the one they list on the packet) plus the financial information I thought was enough to prove he meets the financial requirements. And I put the rest of the documents that I thought they "may" ask during the interview in a manila envelope- the rest of the financial information, ring's receipt, K's original passport and birth certificate, copies of my old visas, pictures of us and boarding passes from our last few trips. My goal was to just take the folder out for the initial document review and keep the rest of the documents separate but ordered in a way that was easy for me to reach them during the interview, I used paper clips on the documents and plastic bags for the pictures to keep them together. I "had a feeling" they may not let my album inside because of the frame, so I took some "loose" pictures with me just in case :)

So I would recoment that Juan takes a few "key" items out of the binder and puts them in a manila envelope or a folder just to be sure he'll have them with him for the interview.

Thanks Emma and Allie for your response. Only a couple more days Allie

Cassandra,

I will be using my dad as my co-sponsor. Although my fiance hasn't gone to Juarez yet for the interview, I can let you know what I provided my fiance with. Maybe I included too much, but I'm thinking that the CO can take what he/she wants. Here is what I included for myself: notarized I-134, employer letter, paystubs, bank statements (I did not include a bank letter because stupid bank of america could not provide such a letter), tax transcripts for 2005, 2004 and 2003. For my co-sponsor, I included: notarized I-134, employer letter, paystubs, tax transcripts for 2005, 2004, and 2003. I am not sure what they will need, but I included all of it, just in case.

I've never crossed the Nogales border, but I crossed the Reynosa-Hidalgo border all the time while the I-129F was in process. Remember that if she stays within the 25mile border area she doesn't even need an I-94, she would just show her visa for inspection to the border agent. I crossed with Keith a couple of times with no trouble, but then again they scanned my visa every time I crossed so they knew I was just going back and forth for day trips to McAllen just like the majority of the people from the border does.

Thanks Sooo much for sending me your lists (this process makes you like lists)! You guys really cleared up some doubts I had. NVC told me yesterday that my case was actually sent to Juarez on Dec. 27th - I'll wait a while longer before I start calling.

Cutie - I agree that Bank of America is stupid. I got an account with them because of the Safe Send Program (if you haven't tried it to send money to mexico, you should, it's free), but now they don't want to give me a letter either.

Farmer - regarding travel on tourist visa: No personal Nogales experience either but when my fiance came after we had already started the k-1 process they grilled him about why he has made so many trips to U.S in one year - "what are you rich or something" was the line of questioning. when he offered to show paperwork (bank statements and job letters), they let him go. There was never any mention of the Fiance visa. I say don't mention it unless they do.

I feel like I'm about to throw up my lunch so I'm excited and very nervous about Thursday morning. Any tips for calming down? I leave tomorrow morning for CDJ. Everyone keep your fingers crossed it goes smoothly and without any hangups.

I hate this feeling. HURRY Thursday and get here so I can relax.

Allie

Long, warm bath, glass of wine, good book? I know it's hard, but it's all GOOD! : )

Marty,

Regarding Nogales, I crossed through there many times. I would drive down to see my husband at least once a month. I did get comments like "you sure come down here a lot." I would tell them why. If you are going to Tucson remember you do need a permit. Tucson is more than 25 miles from the border. A friend of my husband went to Tucson to shop and didn't feel he needed a permit. When stopped at the second checkpoint, his tourist visa was confiscated due to lack of permit. It is not worth the risk. Be honest with them about EVERTHING, especially at this stage. Good Luck!

Relax Allie, you are finally at the last stage!! I'm really excited for you and wish you good luck!

I should probably take my own advice about relaxing, but I can't stop freaking out about our case. I think it may just be my impatience, but am I wrong to freak out about CDJ stiiiillllllll not getting my case? It has been 6 weeks since it was sent from the NVC and looking at everyone's timelines I should have been getting the packet any time now. Danielle n Uriel and Kristen y Efrain were already notified that their cases were received at CDJ even though they were sent out after mine. I feel so helpless because every time we write or call they tell us to wait another 2 weeks, and then another 4 weeks, and then another 6 weeks... I feel like it's an eternity. Sorry to complain, I'm just afraid that our case is lost and no one else I talk to understands my frustration. :(

hello DEAR QUORUM..

I've been looking for a response on my case of less than 180 days of overstay to know if I will need to file a waiver.. and I found a great Law forum (free) where moderators and laurel scott respond to most of the questions.. Here is the link, very educational in case you need an answer from a pro.

Link os Laurel Scott threads

question: I understand I do not have to sign any of the forms and letter of intent for the interview day.. but Does the USC have to sign the letter of intent? I suppose? is my question silly? jaja

un beso!
