Hello girls, I'm just back home from CDJ...and with a nice present from the "reyes magos":dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

We are soo happy!!! After 10 long and frustrating months (302 days!!!) we finally got our visa!!!!!! :energetic: :dancing::dancing::dance::dance::D :energetic:

Here's how everythig went:

Wednesday afternoon: I went to the consulate area right after checking into the hotel (Holiday inn Lincoln) to familiarize myself with the area and also ask a few questions at the clinic and at the consulate: what's the best time to come in the morning: both places recommended me to come in around 8:30am. I also asked at the clinic if I could get a copy of the medical results after the consulate had reviewed them, the answer was no since the consulate people were the only authorized to get copies, even after the interview. So I can forget about getting anything from them if I get an RFE at the AOS stage for missing medical information, but I at least tried :P

Thursday morning I got to the clinic (the one right next to the consulate) around 8am, they told me the day before that it was OK to eat somethig before going but I wasn't really hungry at the time so I didn't have anything. I didn't have to wait that long to get in and get the blood sample taken (about 5min after checking in at the front desk), and after that I was sent to another room for the check up and X rays. It wasn't really as unpleasant as I was expecting, I did have to take my clothes off, but they gave me a paper gown to wear. The questions were asked really fast: had I ever have an infectious disease, any major surgey or illness, blood transfusion, lung/bronchitis problem, was I alergic to any medications, did I have kids, oh, and if I ever had problems with the police :D

I was done with everything by 10am, and I really think it would have been quicker if I had gotten there later like they told me the day before, since the longest wait was for the check up and there weren't that many people waiting for it after 9am. I paid 148.50 USD but you can pay with pesos too ($1633). They give the results from 2 to 4pm, and it's better to go after 2 since it isn't as crowded anymore and you can get them faster. I got there at 2:30pm and I wasn't in there more than 3 minutes.

Friday morning we got to the consulate at 8:15am, there were only 2 people in front of me so I got in really quick, Keith could not get in so he left (but came back around noon and waited for me accross from the consulate). I went through security (they kept the photo album I had taken with me at the entrance, since it had a metal frame and it wasn't allowed inside, but they told me I could come back for it if I needed it for the interview) and they took my "interview" letter (the one that came with the package) and sent me to building "C". Since the building was full I had to stay outside in the seating area until there was enough room inside for more people.

I was called in for paperwork review at about 11:30am. I gave the lady all the documents they list on the package they sent (passport, 2 DS-156 and 2 DS-156K, original birth certificate and copy, 2 passport size photos, letters of intent -Keith's and mine) plus Keith's employer's letter, bank letter, 3 paystubs, and my "laser" visa with the unexpired I-94 that I had. She gave me back the extra pages of the DS-156 form that get printed when you have had more than 1 visa or list multiple visits to the US, and also a copy of my passport that I had included. I signed one of the DS-156K's and the letter of intent, and after that she told me to go back to my seat to wait for them to call me to get my fingerprints. I was called in about 15-20 minutes and after that I was sent to building "B". Again, the building was full so I had to stay outside until there was enough room inside for more people. I only waited about 20minutes outside before getting in though, and after another long wait I was called for my interview at 3:30pm.

It lasted less than 5 minutes, and the questions were:

- how long had we been dating?- she was surprised to hear my "10 years" answer

- what evidence of the relationship did I have? I told her I had my ring-showed it to her, pictures and the ring's receipt but she didn't want to see anything,

- when is the wedding?

- what job does he have? what job do I have?

- where was I going to live in the US? and also:

- had I ever have any problems with immigration or the police?

- had I just been in the US for visits in the past?

- had I ever been there illegaly?

She gave me back my original birth certificate and cut my "laser" visa into pieces :o and told me to wait to hear my name called to get my passport and visa

I had to wait another 2 hours to get my passport with the visa, so I didn't get out of there until 5:30pm. One thing that I noticed was that they were not exactly interviewing in order, so some people that got there earlier than me were still waiting by the time I left, and some others that got in later were interviewed before me.

I hope this information helps you amigas, please let me know if you have any questions, I'll be more than happy to help

Another thing that I think it's worth mentioning: when they handed me the visa they told me that I HAD to go to the Cordova bridge to get my passport stamped and turn the envelope with the documentation in. I asked her if I could do this at another POE since I wasn't ready to get accross to the US just yet, and I wanted to do it at another bridge closer to home, but she said that I had to do it at the Cordova bridge-she even went back to verify this- and that I didn't have to get accross to the US, I just had to get the stamp, turn the envelope in and come back to Mexico. She said that later I could get accross using my visa and get the I-94 at another POE. I was really surprised since I never heard that we had to do this before, so we went to the Cordova brige just to make sure, and they of course told me this information was wrong: I turn in the envelope, get the passport stamped, and get the I-94 when I'm ready to use my visa to cross to the US and this can be done at any other POE. What worries me is the fact that the envelope with the documents DOES say "present your visa from Monday through Friday at the immigration offices pass through the Cordova bridge". Has anybody heard about this before?

Amigas muchisimas gracias por todo su apoyo y sus buenas vibras, en serio que esta experiencia no hubiera sido la misma sin ustedes (L)

Emma super happy for you both - after such a LONG wait you can now be together!:dance:

Congratulations!!!

(BTW - there is no priority date with K1s - that's for other visas that require waiting for a number and if you see it on your NOA2 it's just your NOA1 date and means nothing)O.

Any others interested in joining our CDJ club feel free to post anything here. I'm thinking about karakmitchell, luvinmb, anyone else out there?

Hola y Feliz Ano Nuevo!

Congrats E&K!

I just wanted to introduce myself. My fiancee and I just sent in our I-129F package last week and I am already anxious to get this whole process done with. Guess I'll be waiting a few months! I'm from Detroit and my fiancee is from Hermosillo, Sonora, so we will have our interview in Juarez (like all of you). I will definitely read the 45 pages from you all. But I am sure I may have some other questions! Please bear with me.

BTW, anyone else on here that is from Hermosillo and/or just sent in their package?

Marty

Hi Marty!

My fiance is living in Hermosillo! I was just there over Christmas and New Years. Blessings on your journey! It's a long one, and frustrating, but in the end will be soooo worth it!

On another note; I finally got an email response from the consulate. This is what it said:

<<Good afternoon:

This case has just been received and it will be processed in the next few days.

We will mail a packet with forms and instructions after the case has been

processed.

Thank you

lg/4>>

Sooo... i'm thinking i will call them early next week... and maybe by some miracle...

Do you think i need to be concerned with the new forms that are on the website? We already filled out both of the online forms and printed them with the barcode, etc. If Uriel gets to go to his interview next week while he is traveling near Juarez, he won't have a chance to print new ones out.

Blessings everyone!

I think you should notarized it. but they just took my employer letter and my pay stubs,to see how much I was making , also I provided an I-134 but they never took it sometimes they do sometimes they dont. Nothing about taxes. I think you will need those copies for your aos. later when you come to the usa.

Good Luck

Thank you Girls!!! I can't believe I finally got it :D I wonder if Louisa's fiance went to CDJ last week too, she said he was going to...

Welcome to our little group Marty, I'm not from Hermosillo but K is from Detroit and I'll be moving there soon too :)

Brenda, they didn't ask for K's tax information, they actually just took what I chose to give them (employer's letter, bank letter and 3 paystubs) and didn't ask for anything else. So maybe you don't even need them, I'm not sure how they would handle the co-sponsor cases though since they don't specifically ask for the I-134 form, maybe if you just have your co-sponsor's tax information it would be enough?

Allie, I'm really hoping everything goes great for you guys. Weather is really nice in Juarez, sunny and not so cold, but you still need a jacket though :) Good Luck!!!!

Hi Everyone...

I have been reading this topic since probably page 10 or something...but I have never posted anything, because I didn't really have anything new to add to the conversation. But I just really enjoy hearing about everyone's story, and it makes Efrain and I so happy to find other people out there who are going through the same thing and have the same fears, doubts, worries, and excitement that we have!

Anyway, I still don't really have anything to add, except that I really appreciate you guys for sharing your stories, and I promise to do the same from now on.

By the way, I am at about the same place right now as AgRo and Danielle_n_Uriel. I have received an email confirmation that they have our info in CDJ, but I haven't received the packet in the mail... and the waiting is really testing my patience, but I have faith that they will all come soon. I mean, it's hard waiting when you know the end is so close! It almost makes it harder I think.

Anyway, thanks again... and I am excited to finally have posted SOMETHING! :D

Kristen

Welcome Kristen!

While you are waiting for the packet, be sure to go the CDJ website here http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/wwwhiv...ml#fiancepacket and download all of the appropriate forms and get them ready. That way, once the packet arrives all you will need is the "official" letter and you'll be good to go. Good luck to you both - your I-129F was approved very quickly - here's hoping the rest of the process is just as fast!!!
