Hello Everyone! Hope your Christmas was wonderful. I am in Hermosillo right now with Uriel, we spent Christmas in San Carlos at the beach. How wonderful.

Anyways, I have brought all the paperwork to him for the interview that he will need. We have been going over it so that he is ready.

One question that came up is this: Does he need an appointment for the Medical exam? Or does he just need to go there the day before he intends to go for his interview?

Also, I know there has been talk of being able to 'go to a window' and ask for the 'interview letter' even if you haven't received it in the mail. Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks tons!

Dios te Bendiga!

Danielle, no appointments for the medical. All the information is here: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/wwwfmexwide202k.pdf

In the past people have posted that they were able to go to the information booth and get the offical letter. Not sure if anyone has tried it recently. If you decide to do this, you need to confirm with CDJ via email first that they are ready for his appointment because receipt of the file from NVC does not mean they have finished the work on their end and are ready. Good luck.

Thanks allie & kitkat for the response. I'm waiting for my fiance to connect right now on messenger so we can talk about the best dates for his trip to Juarez. He should have gone today to go ask about ticket prices from a travel agency where he lives. We are planning on the Juarez trip for Jan. 21st thru Jan. 25th., that's when my fiance can go. I'll let everyone know when we have the date for sure, will probably be until he has his airplane tickets in his hands.

Danielle,

I agree with Kitkat. Make sure they are ready for you guys in Juarez. Several people on VJ have said that it is possible to obtain the letter from the info. booth in Juarez, but I have not heard of anyone posting recently about doing this. Just make sure they are ready for you, good luck!

Danielle - it only took 2 days to arrive in the mail to USA address once packet was mailed. I then scanned it to Leo and he was ready to go. You have to have appt letter to get into medical and embassy. I think getting letter from information booth is possible but not guaranteed. I recommend waiting till you get it in the mail and then emailing your fiance.

I'm getting excited in 2 weeks I will be in CDJ getting ready for Leo's visa pick up. I'm still so very nervous about it all. His last day at work is tomorrow. I leave Friday to spend New Years with him for 5 days.

UCLA - I booked Leo's airline tickets for him by calling Aeromexico. They gave me a confirmation number and then I was able to go on-line to aeromexico and print the itinerary.

Thanks everyone for the answers. I called CDJ again this morning and they have not received our paperwork yet. They checked their computer system with the CDJ number that was on my notice that it had been sent to them. That notice is dated December 6. Everytime I call they say, call back in a couple of weeks. Frustration is setting in! We are praying he can go to the interview and come here in January.

Prayers would be appreciated!

Danielle,

Don't freak out yet. With holidays I'm sure they are a little slow right now. Back last summer it took 2 months for them to process mine but seems like it is taking 4 to 6 weeks now. If it was just sent to CDJ first week of Dec I would expect them to get to yours towards middle to end of January due to holiday time off.

Cutie - if you can, I would also do what Allie said and book the tickets in the US with Aeromexico or Mexicana, then give him the confirmation number and email him the official itinerary. It will be one less thing for him to worry about and is probably a lot easier for you to take care of here.

Danielle - I would email CDJ with your case number in the subject line. Request the status of your case indicating that it was forwarded from the NVC on Dec. 6. Chances are they have received the paperwork but are still "inputing your fiance's data". I never called - I always emailed for case status and while we know we can't trust them 100%, I think an email response is more accurate than anyone you speak to on the phone. Just my advice!

Allie, you are leaving in two days and he'll have his visa in 2 weeks!!! YAY - you are almost there. Have a wonderful, peaceful New Years with Leo!!!

Hello! I went to Monterrey to visit Roberto for his graduation and had a wonderful time, but coming back was tough as always... at least this should be the last time we say goodbye!! I took all of the papers he will need to him, but I may need to send a few more things. I haven't been able to visit VJ for a while, but now I think I am all caught up with reading the entire CDJ thread!! It has been really touching hearing your stories and I am glad that at least I can share my experiences and vent here and you will understand!!

Now for the venting about CDJ!!!!! I am soooooo frustrated with them! NVC sent my stuff to CDJ on Nov 29th and they still don't have us in the system when we call. We emailed once and they said they have our case but when we call, they say we are not yet in the system and that the center where they receive the calls is where they send out the packet, so if they don't have us in the system, it hasn't been sent yet!!! Aghhhhh!! It has been 4 weeks which seems like that is how long it took many of you to receive the packet, not just be "put into the system." Maybe I should call the English line or write an email in English instead of Spanish?? I know most of you are past this step, but please keep those of us (like Danielle and me) who are stuck at this stage in your prayers!!

Just to confirm... the US citizen is the one who receives the packet and not the fiance? (well because of the slow correo en Mexico, USC receives it first, right?)

Also, do they always email the petitioner or beneficiary when they send out the packet or is that only in response to an email we send them?

UCLA cutie I am so excited for you!! Jan 21-25 is the week my fiance was hoping to be in CDJ but at the rate things are going for us, I don't know if that will be possible. Fill us in when you know for sure!

Well... back to waiting for another email response from CDJ, hopefully something worth reading ...

Hugs,

Agnieszka

Agnieszka, I never called - only emailed and that's how I found out when they had received our file from the NVC and later finished inputing the information and had sent the package. I would suggest sending an email in English - it doesn't seem like the people on the phone know anything. They do not email you when they send anything - they will only respond to yours. They send the packet to both the USC and Mexican citizen. My fiance actually received his packet not much longer after I got mine, but I had already scanned and emailed him the appointment letter.

Good luck!

Hi Danielle, that´s the e-mail address I´ve used too, and they answered me quite fast too.

ucla_cutie, I´m flying to CDJ on Wednesday and Í booked my ticket to fly back on Saturday noon. I guess I´m being optimistic and thinking I won´t need an extra day after the interview on Friday  But I´m flying with Aeromexico from Monterrey so I can change the return date if needed for a small fee, I´m hoping I don´t have to though :P

Merry Christmas to all and a very happy new year! Fernando and I got married yesterday. Now, the fun begins... :)

Okay everyone, here is our big update!!!

We completed our medical exam on December 26th at the medical office right next door to the consulate. We lined up at 6 a.m. and were done by 9 a.m... They took blood, x-rays and a urine test. They asked him if he smoked, did drugs, alcohol. My fiance said they asked the questions very fast and left only enough time for a yes or no response. They made him get naked to his underwear and then she inspected him. After that they made him pull his underwear down to his knees and visually inspected him. Since he had tattoos they asked him when and where he received them. That was it. We were told to return at 2 for the results. They told him that he was to not open his sealed envelope. The consulate would do that for him. The total current cost for the exam was $1,633.00 pesos.

We had our interview on December 27th. He got in line at 6 a.m. and there was already a line. He said inside they went to a first window where a very nice lady put everything in order. She asked him a few questions and then sent him on his way to the next room.

At the next room he was called to a window and got interviewed by an american lady. She asked him if he wanted to marry me and if i was there. Then she went psycho. She asked him about the day he was denied entry and he told yes he was denied entry once. She asked him if he had ever had his visa cancelled and he said yes the same time that he was denied entry. She then preceded to yell very loudly at him and tell him that he needed to tell her the truth about his intentions, etc. After he firmly kept responding that everything he was telling her was the truth, she suddenly calmed completely calmed down and told him okay I believe you and I think that you are telling me the truth....Then she very nicely told him that he needed the waiver and this is how he does it and gave him an appointment time to return in early January. After her crazy moment everything went very smooth. My fiance said he is pretty confident that she was just trying to see if he would try to lie or something and that when she saw that he had no intentions of lying, she was nice again. Overall, the consulate experience was not a difficult one. He said that she was mainly focused on his denied entry and not our relationship. She looked at our photos, but that was about it.

He will return and file our waiver Jan. 10. We are not worried about that, as I am confident in my HSL and documentation. She told him to expect a 6 month wait. But, I never base any of our wait time on their information. As I have experienced everything changes....We were a bit disappointed that we needed the waiver, especially when the border agents told my fiance that day in 2004 that he would be fine in the future for a visa. But, we now know not to believe what they tell you. We are so happy the interview is over and now we only need to wait for the waiver to be approved and to pick up our visa.......the hard part is over!! yippee.....

As far as our stay in Juarez, it has been fine. We stayed in the Holiday Inn Lincoln. I have no complaints for the hotel. It was perfectly fine. It is close to the consulate and there is a lot of stuff around to do. We felt safe and fine in Juarez. Anyways, that is our story. Overall not bad, everyone was doing there job and my fiance was not even mad about the lady yelling at him. We are glad to have this part over and now we are almost there....

Please let me know if you have any questions. Oh by the way, my fiance said they had a complete copy of the denied entry report in front of them before he went to the window, which is why she probably was focused on that. But again, overall the interviewer and everyone was nice and just doing there jobs. In fact, after the interview part was over, they were very positive.

1Corinthians 13:13 But now faith, hope, and love remain--these three. The greatest of these is love.

luvinmb, congrats on everything going (relatively) smoothly! Sorry you turned out to need the waiver, but you were prepared and that's the best part of it. I'm glad your fiance was able to handle the pyscho lady and glad they were open when you went and didn't decide to close all week! Good luck with the rest - hopefully the timeline for waiver approval will start to shorten since they have hired more staff to work on waivers.

Emma, hopefully you'll be ok with your schedule. Good luck!

Lucy, sorry I didn't post a BIG congrats to you! My fiance and I giggled that you guys are now married - we cannot wait until the day we get to say the same!

Everyone with interviews coming up, BUENA SUERTE!!!

luvinmb,

Congrats on your somewhat successful day in Juarez. Hopefully the next step will move smoothly. Can you explain to me why you have to file a waiver. What does it mean that your fiance was 'denied entry'? My fiance was denied a visitor's visa twice. Is this the same thing? He never had a visa cancelled, but they wouldn't issue him a visitor's visa because he is young, single, doesn't own property in Mexico, etc. (he fit the profile)

Will we have to worry?

Thanks!
