Well I've been in Mexico since Wednesday! Oliver could not get his Passport still. They said that it would take a week to get it so we wouldn't of had a chance to get it now anyways. He will be going back to Chilpancingo Sunday and he will come back in a week to go to his interview. I won't be able to join him that time but atleast I got to see him! It is cold here and Oliver has been sick ever since he got here :( It's been nice seeing him though!

2010-02-08 Filed I-130 through Ca. Service center

Hi Waiting-

Thanks for checking in and giving us an update. I'm really glad to hear you are enjoying your time with Oliverio. Sorry you guys are having so much trouble with the passport. I know it is very frustrating now but just think later down the road you guys will have a story to tell your kids. It will all work out soon. Just a couple weeks delay. Have a safe journey home.

It seems like everyone is getting ready to head to Juarez within the next month or so, that's great we are all moving along.

I have a question for you guys though. On the DS-156 forms, question 30 asks: have you ever been issued a U.S. visa? My fiance was issued a visa, but this was back in 1993, a long time ago (he was only 10 years old). He says that his entire family went to apply for visas to visit the U.S. and they received them. But he is not sure what type of visa they are, he's thinking they may have been visitors, but he's not 100% sure. So, my question is: what should he answer for the question: what type of visa? Should he put, unsure? not known? or just put B2 (visitor's visa) although he's not sure it was this type?

What do you guys think! I promise this is one of my last questions, I'm mailing off the paperwork to my fiance later this week.

Does he have the visa or a copy? It's unlikely that he qualified for any other type of visa - Visitor's is really the only option at the age of 10.

Man girl you are quick!! I love it though, everytime I post one of my silly questions, you answer within 5 minutes.

He can't even find it anymore, it was a while ago. I'll tell him to look for anything. What does a visitor's visa say on it? Maybe if he actually finds something he can read it to me, and then I can figure out if it's a visitors visa.

My fiance was issued a visa that they used to call "familia visa" when he was a small child. He updated that in 2001 to a BCC/Tourist visa.......

On the question about have you ever been issued a visa. We are putting "Yes" and when/what type: 1989- Familia Visa, 2001- Update to BCC/Tourist Visa

On the question about how and when visited U.S., we are putting: Misc. Visits to United States with Family from 1989-2001, Dec. 2001, Dec. 2002, Sept 2003......... Unfortunately, we do not have any way to find exact dates so that is what we are putting.

Oh, by the way group, we are heading to Juarez for our interview on December 27TH!!!!! Wish us luck.....

When should we fill out the online DS-156 form? Is it electronically sent to them when we fill it out? Or is it only retrievable when they scan the barcode at the consulate?

Ucla_cutie, if it was stamped in his passport and was issued at a consulate I agree with KK and most likely was a B1/B2 visa, but if it was a card issued by the INS at an international bridge it could have only been a Border Crossing Card (Mica/Tarjeta local), which "technically wasn't a visa but was used as such by border residents. These are the ones where young kids' names were just added to the mother's card. The BCC were issued at the bridges by the INS until around 1998, after that they were replaced by "laser"visas or BCC/B1/B2. Hope this helps :)

I also wanted to give you an update on our case: after much consideration we have decided to postpone our trip to CDJ until January 3rd. We were planning on going on the 25th to have the interview on the 27th, but since I would have to fly to CDJ on Christmas- and there are no direct flights from the town I'll be spending Christmas eve at- this would take more travelling for me, less time spent with my family during the holidays, and much more money to spend compared to leaving from Monterrey later in January. And if we add the risk of the consulate deciding to close the entire week (I hope not since luvinmb will be going!)... we think it's just a better option to wait a few more days.

We have all the paperwork ready to go though, the only thing we are debating about doing is getting a letter from his new employer, since the one we have has an early november date and it is from his last job. Other than that we are READY :)

Good luck in your interview luvinmb!

When should we fill out the online DS-156 form? Is it electronically sent to them when we fill it out? Or is it only retrievable when they scan the barcode at the consulate?

You can fill it out at any time before the interview and print it as part of your packet. It's not sent electronically but doing it online generates a barcode and makes it easier for them.

E&K - sounds like a very wise plan. So you're going the first week in January, YAY!

Hi girls,

I have a silly question to ask. But since it's the Juarez thread, I'm not as embarrassed to ask. Are we allowed to staple pages together (the I-134 and the ds-156 forms). I'm asking because I remember with the initial petition, they don't like staples and they prefer acco fasteners. But in this case, I"m thinking it's different and they would not want acco fasteners, because it would be more time consuming for them to go through the pages.

Since I had already planned this trip to Mexico, it is the only time we can go to Juarez. I had the option of going December 26 for medical and interview on Dec 27....Or go the following week after New Years. Either week I was worried about the two major holidays messing everything up, since Christmas and New Years days are on Mondays....But, hey all I know is I confirmed with the medical offices they will be open on the 26th and confirmed with the consulate by email on the 27th.... But, we all know how that can go! Good Luck to all!

1Corinthians 13:13 But now faith, hope, and love remain--these three. The greatest of these is love.
