One thing I did forget to mention was they did in fact ask for the letter that was included in the packet. I saw many being turned away if they did not have the letter in hand. There was a guard at the door requesting letters and asking anyone who did not have one or was accompanying anyone to step out of line.

The other question Fernando was asked that I forgot to mention at the interview was... if we had ever been intimate ( strange ). Also his interview took about 20 - 30 minutes. They had him standing at the window that long while the CO looked over photos and asked him the same questions over and over. He said specifically when and how did you meet. She asked him minimum 3 times worded differently. At the end, she asked him to recap how we met in more detail. His interview window number was 24. He said he heard many being denied at other windows as well. Either that was a bad Monday after holidays and everyone there was in a bad mood or they are being more critical. I hope this info. helps. I know it will be different for everyone. Again NO financial documents were asked of him. ... no paystubs, 1040's, W2's, affidavit, bank statements, employment letters, absolutely NOTHING!!! He brought everything back with him. He said the first window was for documents and all the CO wanted to see were the forms we filled online and birth certificates for BOTH of us.

The reason they ask you the same questions over and over again (often worded slightly differently, but always the same question) is actually not for the reason you might think. Yes, they are mildly interested in the answer, but what they really want is for you to say something different one of those times, they're trying to trip you up so they can accuse you of lying.

Example:

CO: Where did you meet your fiancee?

Alien: It was during a vacation trip to the beach....

Later on....

CO: So you met your fiancee while on vacation at the mountains?

Alien: (without paying attention to the full question) Yes...

A friend of mine had warned me about that kind of thing which is why it's so important to tell your husbands/fiances to PAY ATTENTION to what is being asked. Most people will hear that question and stop listening after the word "vacation"-that's how they trip you up. Tell them to pay very close attention to exactly what is being said.

Don't let the sunshine spoil your rain...just stand up and COMPLAIN!

I think all in all your fiance needs to be prepared for anything. Leo has not asked any questions - just showed a couple of pics.

KK- obviously Leo already turned in forms at CDJ - but when we went they were not on-line forms. Handwritten. Do you think we should redo them with on-line forms just in case they ask for them??

Hola! Thank you for sending me this thread KitKat!!! My fiance lives in Monterrey, Mexico right now. I must say that this site is both encouraging and discouraging at the same time. I see timelines that make me think it will be no more than a couple months, and then others like the CDJ problems that make me think it'll be another year. I hope all of your fiances get their visas soon! It is comforting to know that I am not alone. Thanks for posting all of this information!!

KitKat - in your reply to one of my posts i-134 or i-864? you said that CDJ doesn't take the affidavit of support. What exactly do they take? Just the employment letter/paystubs/bank statements, and no actual affidavit? Sorry if I missed your point... I am getting stressed out as I need to get everything together by my trip to MTY next week to visit my fiance.

Thanks for all your help!! (F)

Take a look at the fiance packet on the website. They don't require the I-134 form to be used. Instead they give a list of things you can provide to show that you can meet the public charge requirement. Many people do use the I-134 but it's not necessary or required.

In terms of timelines, most normal cases are approved at the interview. Allie & Leo had a false hit on a fingerprint which delayed them several months. If a waiver is required due to prior overstay or illegal presence, this definitely lengthens the process considerably.

Good luck.

Mike and Genoveva,

Good luck at your upcoming interview, you guys will be in my prayers. When you get back, make sure to tell us ALL the details, we love to hear about each others interviews. :P

Agro,

Hopefully you get to be with your fiance soon also. Believe me, we have all been down that road of feeling like this is a long, endless process with many forms to fill out and LOTS AND LOTS of waiting. But at least with this site, you feel like you are not alone in this journey, there are actually others going through the exact same thing, especially on this CDJ thread where we will all be going thru Juarez (and we all have fiances in Mexico or we are the fiances in Mexico). Just hang in there, your happy day will come, like it will for all of us!

kitkat,

A couple of questions for you, just out of curiosity.

- I understand that you submitted an I-134, yes? Why, since it's not required?

- Do you know of any people going through CDJ who have not included an I-134 as part of their sponsorship documentation?

I ask the 2nd question because most, if not all, consulates include the list of things that can be used to meet the public charge provisions of the law in the K-visa application package. It's known as DS-2000, and before that OF-167. And if I-134 is required by any particular consulate or consular officer, it's their decision because as a matter of law the use of I-134 is optional. (Indeed, if a K-visa applicant has sufficient financial resources of their own, a sponsor is not required.)

Yodrak

Take a look at the fiance packet on the website. They don't require the I-134 form to be used. Instead they give a list of things you can provide to show that you can meet the public charge requirement. Many people do use the I-134 but it's not necessary or required.
