Some of us have the same question so I am going to re-post it here in hopes that someone can help us out:

There seems to be some discrepancy as to whether or not the American fiance is allowed into the consulate for the interview. It seems based on some recent posts from K-1 interviews at the CDJ consulate that they are requesting that the American fiance come in for an interview (so it appears that they want us to be there also now), but I have read in some other posts of the American fiance waiting outside all day during the interview process. I am planning on being there, but I was 50/50 as to whether or not they were going to let me join my fiance for the interview.

I had thought that if they don't let me in, but then the interviewer wants to talk to me, I could always be outside waiting. But, due to the security situation, I did not want to be standing outside the consulate all day (I know cell phones are not allowed inside, so if my fiance needs to get in touch with me he would then have to go all the way back to the hotel to get me, and reports I have read say that people waiting outside of the consulate are in a very dangerous position as "soft targets" with all of the threatened car bombings-not so pleasant to think about). Also, I know that several other people are concerned because they are not in a position to join their fiances in CDJ for the interview, and they are worried that this may lead to a denial of the K-1 visa or a delay.

Does anyone have any clarification about this? Thanks in advance!

My fiancee, and a bunch of the other people that she talked were not asked to go get their US fiancee to be interviewed. If you are still concerned it might happen, stay at one of the many local hotels being are only a 5 minute walk away. Or if you want to stay right outside the consulate and wait, they are lockers right there, tables to sit at, places to buy food/drinks. And when I was there I felt very safe and was not worried about something happening to me. I would describe the consulate area as a safe island inside a dangerous city.

good luck, and don't be surprised if the process is much easier then expected!

All right gang, review is up! BTW-they didn't let me in or ask to see me or anything like that at the interview and I just waited back at the hotel, so everything went smoothly:). Jay-Kay, I think I remember seeing that "Blanket Waiver" language on my fiance's visa as well. I took a picture of it and I am meaning to research it to see what it means-let me know if you find anything out.

I searched for it here on VJ, and only came up with 2 posts. It sounded like it was related to them not having to get vaccinations for a K-1.

I will try to get his review up within the next couple days.

Ok, our review of Juarez is posted now.

It sounds like they were a little tougher on them in their interviews maybe then they have been lately? I don't know if this is a new trend or anything but it can't hurt for anyone going through Juarez for a K-1 any time soon to bring as much evidence as you can to show during the interview. Also, it is interesting to read in your review that they drilled your fiance about you not being in Juarez for the interview, and my fiance never even got asked if I was in town or not-so random.

To clarify about the cab drivers thinking you need to go to the border to get the visa stamped, there is a lot of confusion about "activating" the visas. When you get the packet from DHL, it will have a crossing point in Juarez designated on it, and the drivers believe that for any visa you get, you have to immediately go to that checkpoint to get the visa stamped. The letter with the visa packet explains that for the K-1, if you want to cross in Juarez, you should use their designated bridge/crossing point, but that you can cross anywhere. Also, the letter explains that you can fly in or use any crossing point that you want.

My fiancé's Visa has this on it: Annotation: 212(G)(2)(A) Blanket Waiver

Anyone else that went through Juarez for a K-1 have this listed on their Visa? Is this about vaccinations?

Yes, it is about vaccinations. The officer confirmed that at POE

Congratulations for your visa!

I would guess it also depends on which consul worker you interview with, what mood they are in, how busy they are, maybe even if they are thinking I am hungry / lets make this interview quick so I can go eat! - and how sure they are about the person and their US fiancee. When we went in June my fiancee was not asked to show any addition proof (of a relationship) but we brought a lot of it!

Yes, it seemed like our fiance's got grilled a bit more than I have seen in other reviews. I wonder if it is because they are males. The reviews I read through seemed to show the males got asked more, and for more evidence too. The line of questioning always seems random. I guess they like to keep us all on our toes :P I am not sure why he asked if I was there, and kept pushing about me going there, only to say never mind, don't worry about it, you are approved. I am very thankful for that though! It seemed like the one that interviewed your fiance was more interested in what your family thought of him.

It is hard to plan a wedding long distance and in such short of a time. I am a little nervous, but more excited that he will finally be coming to the US after all these years. :D

I already put away AOS money in my savings.

Now we will just have to worry about finding a civil surgeon that won't charge us too much, since Juarez won't give a filled out DS-2035.

Congrats on getting your GC last month!

Hi everyone! I am about to file the 129f for my Mexican fiance. I´ve been reading up a lot on the forums about the interviews in Juarez. It seems like you have to give your self at least four days in Juarez. My fiance just flipped when I told him this, because now he won´t be able to take any more vacation days for the next six months since he will have to save days for the interview. It seems crazy that it takes so long - how can you even make a round trip airfare, not knowing if you will be able to leave on which day? Do you just have to make one way airfare and then buy return airfare on the same day you are ready to leave? It is a bit stressful because I am figuring that airfare for both of us to go plus at least four nights of hotel is going to be close to $1000 dollars...in addition to all the other fees going into this visa. Ugh!

Anyway, how long did you have to stay in Juarez and how did you deal with booking your airfare dates in advance not knowing which day you would have all your paperwork ready for you to leave CDJ?

Thanks

You have to go to the medical on the first day, then to the interview the next. After approval, they say it can take 2-4 business days to get the visa. So, I wouldn't plan only for 4 days because you never know. Some get the visa the next day, and some don't. I have read some people having to stay well over a week. For my fiance, he bought a one way plane ticket to Juarez and flew in on a Sunday. He got the visa on Thursday, and bought another one way ticket back after he picked it up. He flew back home on Friday evening. So, about 6 days total really. It is pricey, and it is difficult to plan when you are up in the air about it all. We just do what we have to do, and think about how it is all worth it in the end. :)
