Well just make sure at the medical that all answers to any drug questions is NO! Tell him/her not to play around with the medical appt because they will screw you if they can - just say no and don't let them intimidate, that is my advice and he will do fine. The answer is NO!!! Make sure you drill this into your fiance and you won't have any problems, good luck. I wish someone would have told me the same back when we went the first time. They will try to persuade him/her "it's ok, you can tell us the truth, nothing will happen etc etc etc..." pay no attention, they are not your friends, they are working for the gov't - your fiance is only a piece of paper to them so heed my advice and good luck! :)

I received my NOA2 last night, YAY! but I know I can't relax yet. I see different things on peoples time lines. Do they give you an interview date or do you just show up after you've received the letter? Also, I was under the impression that CJ doesn't send out a packet 4, but some people have it listed on their timeline, whats that about? Does anyone know how long they take, more or less, to process the case from date of receiving it at CJ to interview date?

Hi Stasia,

Once you get you open appointment letter you can show up any day you want, just keep in mind that you need to do your medical extaminaton prior to the interview ... I arrived on sunday, monday did the examination and tuesday the interview.

Takes 2 to 3 weeks each, average ... my case took a little bit more, my letter was dated on march but received until may.

Congratulations for your NOA, if you have more questions feel free to ask!

Janet, we started our process at the same time, and I am SO happy that you guys can finally reapply, because I can't imagine what torture it has been for both of you...it's been almost 3 years!!!! Felicidades! Happinesses!

Congrats!!!

The packet people refer to is just an open invitation letter you receive from Juarez. I still have NOT received ours. What I did was start calling NVC after about 4 weeks and waited until they gave me the green light to go. Don't waste your money calling Juarez just wait until NVC tells you they have sent out Packet 3 and then if you would like you can call Juarez to confirm. There is no point in wasting 7 dollars each time you call Juarez to get the same answer NVC can tell you for free.

The open invitation letter takes about 5 weeks. Juarez received our packet I think on September 18th and we received the green light from NVC on October 29th. Once they tell you the packet has been sent you can go to Juarez and have your invitation letter printed out..

:) congratulations! you've waited long enough..now it's time to move up and on! good luck with everything.

We started about the same time too and my wife should have her 10 year green card this month.

Let me ask why you didn't get married and then you would be getting your IR1 now instead of just a K1?

No, it is not needed. We took one just in case (even though Mexico is listed as a country where you can't get one) and they didn't ask for it.
