Hi everyone! We got our packet from CDJ yeserday!!!

2 questions for those who have been there...

1. Which hotel is closest or highly recommended?

2. What is invloved with the medical exam?

Thanks and tally ho!!!

Holiday Inn Lincoln seems to be the most recommended.

This is an accurate overview of the medical - they also apparently tend to ask about drug use, alcohol use, etc.

They did take chest X rays, drew blood, asked him about his medical history, and asked him to undress. Apparently they just looked at him and said that was enough.

Well here goes the first part:

Medical - He arrived there at 6:20 AM and was out by 7:15. He said they drew blood, urine test, chest xrays, and Nothing else...no vaccines or anything else. The femaile doctor asked him to strip to boxers and looked him over, later asked his to drop them to his knees. She asked him lift his genitals..and that was it...no touching. She asked him about drug use. That was the one and only question. He returned at 2 for the results. They are in a big black plastic envelope with an official paper attached.

BAD news: Consulte decided to close the entire week. YES, even after 2 emails confirming that they would be open Wednesday and Friday. They even showed the hours of operation on the news stating they would be opened those days!!!!!!!!!!!! Many people there today...even with appointments...simply told to return on Monday by a security guard...no notices.. or signs anywhere...no explanations!

We decided to look for another more affordable hotel for the remainder of our stay till Monday. I found one called El Monaco for $350 pesos a night. It is about 3 blocks away and nice. The ones closer to the consulate are rip offs!! They wanted from 450-600 a night and not that nice. For us, not that big a deal but many poor people with not enough money to stay till Monday. I met a woman from DF crying and desperate walking with her bags. She only had enough money for the 1 night....she walked away when we offered to help. I can't imagine how many come in that situation. I contacted work and told them I would be out. There is no point in going back now and making more of an expense later.

WEll that is it for today...will keep you posted...

Lucy, I'm so glad to hear the medical went well and SO sorry to hear the CDJ is so messed up that they closed without notifying anyone. That really stinks. But you are well on your way to being finished. Hopefully you guys can enjoy your time together and best of luck :luv:

Lucy,

So sorry to hear that. THAT REALLY STINKS especially with all the homework you did to make sure they are open. At least you guys are together and can spend a nice long weekend.

They get enough holiday breaks - what's up with closing yesterday and today!

Have a nice weekend and Happy Thanksgiving.

Allie

OMG Lucy, ok let me first say I am so sorry because pretty much the exact same thing happened to us, and I know how UTTERLY frustrating and upsetting it is...having said that, I told ya so! We went this exact week last year and this is what happened to us. Let's all try and learn from each other so mistakes don't get repeated. I hope you're able to deal with this and get everything sorted out, Lucy. And all this reminds me that we're coming up on one year from the date of Javier's interview-the date our lives were ruined. Grrrr, why does all this have to come at Thanksgiving time??

Don't let the sunshine spoil your rain...just stand up and COMPLAIN!

I had been stocking my mailman as well and Pancho had been stalking DHL in Tecate. I finally contacted the consulate and they said that he would not be receiving a letter from CDJ. Both myself and my paralegal received letters from the consulate; two weeks apart. Of course, the letter was dated 10/12/06 and the envelope was postmarked 11/2/06. Best of luck to you.

So both my fiance and myself will be mailed a copy of the packet from CDJ? If so, I am confident that I will receive mine much faster. Once I receive the packet, then because me fiance will have everything ready, we can head to juarez?

Both the USC and Mexican Fiance are *supposed* to receive a copy of the complete fiance packet forms and letter. But history here shows that the Mexican pretty much never receives it . . . that's why I've been stalking the mailman since September 28!!! As soon as you get it, and have all the forms ready, you can go.

Hope you don't need the waiver - sounds like a real mess in CDJ these days and I am not looking forward to it!
