No you do not need police certificates for K1 Visa or any Visa in Mexico.

Actually you DO need the police certificates for K1 visas for every place you have lived since you were 16 years old. Sometimes they don't ask for it but they could easily ask for it because it's in their list of required paperwork. Watch out with that.

When I went they didn't ask for it but I had them all the same. One from Mexico and one from Canada because I lived there for almost 2 years.

Here is the link to their site regarding that topic.

Interesting. I would get it either way just in case. It's really easy to get them and it's free. Better to have more than less for this kind of paperwork.

Cheers everyone and good luck!

Hey Everyone,

I was just wondering how long it usually takes for the consulate to send out the Fiance Packet. They received our petition on June 19, 2009 and i've contacted them several times already to see if they've sent it, but they keep telling me they have not sent anything out. It's been more than a month now and I'm just curious as to why it's taking so long. Does anyone know the standard process and time? Also, is there anything I can do to speed up this process? One more thing...Once it is sent out, how long does the packet usually take to arrive? Thanks in advance :)

You Dont have to Wait for them, I never got one, All you need to do is get the case number and fill out the papaerwork thats on the COnlsate website. Then go to Juerez to the Infoation line, and get the admittance letter. Thats what we did on June 16th, and eveything went great, posted my expirence on here, so you can read it.

I posted a suggestion in another forum, but what you can do to speed up the process instead of calling the consulate and paying ridiculous amounts of money to talk to someone who will tell you things that are not true. Contact your congressman and have them get into contact with the consulate. I contacted mine and within one week we had our open appointment letter. Best of luck.

Thank you for responding! I was thinking of doing just that; heading out to Juarez and requesting the appointment letter at the window. In reality though, I'm scared to death that once we're there, they'll turn us away and say we have to come back when we receive the letter. Everytime I've contacted the consulate, I ask them if I can do this and they always tell me I have to wait at least two more months until they can give me the letter at the window. They told me that if I decide to show up at the window I must be darn sure the packet was sent out already. Had your packet been sent out when you decided to go?

Oscarlore,

Please post to let us know if that works. That is exactly what we want to do. We dont have the AOS2 yet but it should be here any day now. We are hoping to wait a month from our AOS2 and then go to Juarez and ask them to print the letter. I have seen lots of people on here have never recieved the packet from Juarez and have to do just what you are doing. When are you going?

An update from Laurel Scott, an attorney who deals with CDJ and waivers, regarding their new policy on waivers (very very irritating):

Update on Juarez:

Processing times have increased from 6-9 months to 10+ months. OIC (officer-in-charge) has requested that all I-601ers not file ANY inquiries until it has been 11+ months since you filed your waiver. The consulate is no longer accepting the I-601 waiver application on the day of the K visa or immigrant visa interview. They are now requiring everyone to come back for a second interview to file. While I have not yet gotten any denials through USCIS-Juarez, other attorneys have reported to me that their approval rates have plummeted and that they've had a marked increase of clients approaching them following a denial of their pro se filings (note: a "pro se" filing is something a person files without using an attorney). When the OIC saw that I was telling everyone that Juarez was the easiest office to get an I-601 approval abroad, he asked me to be careful not to give anyone the impression that the I-601 process in Juarez is a 'formality'; i.e. you have to PROVE your case.

That's totally true, what they are doing is telling people they can get a waiver and then after 24/48 hours they applicant has to call the embassy number and make an appointment.

I met a lady in the hotel and I was helping her and she asked me to help her call, she called as soon as she came back from the embassy and they told her she had to wait at least 24 hours, she needed to know more or less when was her appointment gonna be so she could make plans and go see her family, and the guy told us that the appointment they were giving were for the end of September. that was like 2 weeks ago. Hey everyone,

So on July 23rd, I decided to contact my Congressman. I did it through his webpage and explained the whole situation to him. The next day, I received a call on my cell phone while I was at work. To my surprise, it was someone calling from Congressman Howard Berman's office. They had received my email and where sending some forms out to me that same day. They asked me to fill them out as soon as possible and return them to their office. I was actually a little impressed by the quick turnaround. Now I am just a little impatient. I haven't received the forms and I'm back to checking the mailbox three times a day to make sure I didn't miss anything in there. :( I hope it comes soon because I don't really want to head out to Juarez without at least knowing that the packet was sent out. If all goes well and everything goes as planned, we should be in Juarez on August 24th. Ugh!! I'm so over this whole process already!! I need to see my love!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! Seems your Congressman is a bit formal. His assitant called me directly and asked me a bunch of questions, then asked me to fax over a description of my case to her along with my authorization allowing their office to contact the consulate on my behalf. The next thing I knew, which was two days later. They were holding our case due to some missing birth certs. Sent them along and within 3 days I had my open appt letter. All the very best for you and yours. Don't give up nor get too tired, this whole process has a purpose and if we are all truly in love, then the strength of love will pull us all through this. Try to look at the light at the end of the tunnel. You will finally be together with your SO. That's what I constantly remind Marcela about. Hang in there, it's all worth it.

We are applying for a K1 visa and our case just got sent from NVC to Juarez. How long does it usually take for Juarez to send out the packet and open appointment letter? We have all the paperwork from the website filled out so we dont want to wait for the letter. We want to go to Juarez once we know it has been sent. When should we call to see if they have sent the letter out?

Hey Everyone!

Just an update on our case....

After contacting my Congressman on July 23, his assistant sent out some forms that I needed to fill out. I received them on July 31. I immediately filled them out and sent them back on August 3. I called in on August 7 to confirm they had received them. His assistant confirmed they received my forms and told me they had already contacted the embassy through e-mails and snail mail on August 4 and 5 and were waiting for a response. I asked how long the embassy usually took to respond and she said, "We give them about six weeks to respond before we take further action." So at this point I'm sitting there thinking how worthless was this? What a waste of my time!! I decided to leave it alone for a week. Then I would call the embassy once more in an effort to pursuade them to get off their asses and send me my stuff!!! I was dreading that phone call; I don't like to be mean. To my surprise, I didn't have to wait for a week to pass and I didn't have to lose my temper. I opened my mailbox yesterday expecting nothing more than the usual stack of bills and grocery ads; but there was more. We received our open appointment letter in the mail yesterday. The embassy had sent it on August 6.

My Congressman's office had contacted them the week before, and not even a week later, I had the open appointment letter in my hand!! It really worked!!

Word of advice: DO THIS!! IT WORKS!!

Thanks to everyone that helped answer my question and for all the advice.

Special thanks to Tom_A!

FINALLY!!

FYI: Ciudad Juarez had our petition for a total of 50 days before they sent out the packet.

We're planning to be in Juarez the week of August 31.
