Thanks so much JustD. I'll take on count every word you wrote. I'm getting a lot more nervous as the moment approaches but I will certainly try to keep your words in mind as I wait for the interview.

I'll make sure I have everything you've just mentioned in my suitcase for the big day!

Thanks again! You're GREAT!!!!

Any updates??? I sure hope there is good news to report!!!!

Hi guys! I'm in Juarez and this has been crazy! I, after a lot of events, got approved but am stuck in Juarez until I get the visas. I'd like to ask something I had never read here but people just told me in the hotel. Is is true that once you get your visas you have to go to the bridge to get them stamped????

I have already lost a working day and spent some good amount of money and now they tell me the taxi charges 60USD to take me to the DHL office and to the "line" to have the visa stamped.

As soon as I'm out of this shock, I'll come with a decent post.

Not true! unless of course, you decide to enter the US (port of entry) via El Paso... REMEMBER that K1 visas are good for ONE entry only, either by land, air or sea.

You do have to go to DHL to get your Visa's... But it isnt that expensive to go to and from.... Once you get the visa's back, you then need to figure out how you are coming into the U.S. If you go thru El Paso it is $50 for a cab ride there and then you cross there... If you fly out then you will have about a $30 cab ride to the airport. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn make sure you look into the free shuttle.

ANd by the way.... CONGRATS ON THE APPROVAL!!!!!

OK, I'm back in Mexico city. This was quite an experience!

I arrived to Juarez on Sunday. The hotel is really nice and pretty close to the Consulate as you had told me here. There's a very friendly environment there and everyone is always asking how your process is going and sharing their experiences. I have to accept that after listening to many of the stories there, I feel lucky.

On Monday we had the medicals. We heard there were lots of people at the Clinica Medica and decided to go to the older clinic. The taxi was 120 pesos and we were done in about an hour. We got the results at 4pm that day.

We went to the Consulate on Tuesday for the interview and there were lines and lines of people there. It seems like they have a lot of people now due to the influenza thing. We spent 7 hours there. First, document check, then fingerprints and at last the interview with the Consul who was truly nice. He made things a lot easier for us and helped us feel comfortable and relaxed. He didn't ask much. Only when and where I met my fiance, what my fiance and I did for living, he asked a few questions to my son like how many times he had seen my fiance, if he had had a student visa and what school grade he was planning to study in the States. Again, he was so nice that he made us feel very confident. He didn't say we had been approved but he told me he'd cancel our tourist visas so I asked if that meant we were approved and he replied, smiling, they would better be.

We were hoping we would get them on Tuesday but nothing happened. Then Wednesday, we spent almost all day checking for the tracking number and there was nothing. I had to change my flights and get another night. Just after getting in the room, we checked again and the status started changing. It was 6:40 pm when it finally appeared on the web page that the package was ready to be picked up.

We ended up getting it this morning and followed your veeeery wise advise

Just one thing. Make sure you check the Consulate will be open when you are there. Even as we didn't have a problem the first two days, the Consulate was closed on Wednesday and I didn't know until I was there. Some people say that could've been the reason for the delay in deliveries.

Thanks a lot everyone!!!!!! :D It was thanks to you, to your posts that I knew how to handle things there. I was not expecting a 7 hour wait but I knew it could take from 5 and a half to 6 hours so that helped me feel more comfortable while sitting there

Next step, planning my trip to NY in October :dance::dance:

When my wife went for the medical @ Clinica Medica Internacional she said that many people were being referred to the psychologists for additional evaluation. She had no idea why that was happening.

She also saw many people being rejected for visas but since Juarez does tourist as well as immigration visas, she felt that the majority of the rejects were for tourist visas. The standards for obtaining a tourist visa for the US in Mexico are quite high. My wife was rejected on her initial application for a tourist visa some years ago. A couple of years later she obtained her tourist visa.

My wife said that being confident in your relationship is a big plus wrt how you present yourself to the CO. The COs look at the attitude you show; they know it's stressful for the interviewee and some of them play head games to see if your relationship is real. They want to screen out the frauds and the cheats from emigrating.

I was suprised to see that people that were out of status in the US had no significant problems getting their visa approved.

I'm going to Ciudad Juarez next week, have all my papers but the police record (no antecedentes penales) because there is an issue with the office which provide this.

Was reading that for Mexican people is not necessary this record for a K1 visa ... Does anybody know anything about this?

Well, We got it!!!

On monday, I walked accross the Birdge into Juarez, got a taxi, went to the airport, picked up my finacee, Then went to the Holiday Inn express, las misiones, it was really conviently located next to conoslate. She then waited in the infomation line for 4 hours to get the inivtaction letter. She got it around 12:00. So then we just hung out the rest of the day. Went to the mall across the street, ate at denny's and other close places. Tuesday we went to the clinca medica next to the consate, where while in line a lady pulled us out and got inot a new line to go the the old clinc. This was alot better, it is not near as busy. We got onto a bus they provied and drove over.

She said they sat ina room with everybody, drew blood then spearted the men and the women. Girl docotrs checked the girls and the guy docotrs checked the cys. she said then they took her xray, and sat in a room with just a hospital gown on. They checked everything really quick and asked her if she had taken drugs, if she drinks, any mental problems. Then she put her cloths back on and got back onto the bus and it took us back to the hotel. We were done by 11:00 AM. At 3:00 we got back onto the bus and went for the results, you just sit ina room and they call you by name, tell you not to open the small envelope, and the big one is yours to keep.

I wil get more to you on the interview a little bt later

Hello I've been reading with extreme interest all your post for the last month with an eye on individual experiences at the Juarez Consulate.

Well it’s finally our turn to interview for K1 Visa. My fiancé will be coming from Guadalajara and I from Chicago and plan to meet during the first week of July. What I looking for is recommendations on hotels, taxi fares cost, total spent and how long the process would take if we start on a Monday. Also, provided we receive Visa how long does it take to cross into El Paso and reaching the airport? I’m aware that visas and not handed out the same day anymore, so how long does one wait for DHL package before heading to airport?

Alrighty, I can tell the rest now

On wed. my finacee went to the consolate at 7:30, there was already a HUGE line. but the guard called people with appontment letters, and we had ours to go the front. He then checked her paapers, and she got in at 8. I went back to my hotle room, then about 15 min later she came back they said that she was missing a form, one that wasnt on the webiste, but they gave her a copy, we filled it out and made two copiesright in the hotel loby. Then she had a pass to go right back inot the consolate. Then i went back up to my room and wacthed TV,. but i couldnt just sit there, so i went out and sat on the street corner liek everyone else out side the conoslate. My advie bring sunblock, and something to Rea if your gonna wait outside.

She then said that she went inot the consolate, she took a number, sat for a while, until her number came up, she said that they were not in order, then she got called up, a man checked her papaerwork, stamped it and told her to take a seat. She then got booted out with 15 others, because they were doing older people and mothers with children first. She waited outside for about 20 min then they called those that got booted out back in. SHe then sat down and they called her by name to another booth, where a amercian lady that spoke great spanish, looked ovber the paperwork, asked her, "ow did you meet." "Where does he work." and that was it, then she stamp the papaers and said your approved. My finacee was like i brought photos and lots of eveidence, but she said that we had enough on our orginail paper work.

Meanwhile i was outside about to have a ulcer and a heart attack from wating, when I see this amercian women walking down the strrett towards denny's when all the usdden she just said, "hey, I just apporved her." I just said wow, mmm then she said I reconized you from the photos." i said thanks!!! witha big smile, My finace came out a little bit later and need to pay 8.00 Dollares for the DHL because she forgot her money. So she went back in and paid, then we just waitd at the hotel for several hours.

Around 6:15 i saw on the internet that the DHL was ready!!! we rushed down to the offcie in a taxi, we were the last ones there, and we had the whole packet in our hands. We chec out the next morning, took a cab to the other side of the Birgde, and walked into the prt of entrey, She had to sit in a room fr a little whiole there, they took her fingerprints and we had to pay 6 dollars for her to enter at the Bridge in El paso. Then we walked accross picked up my car a drove back to AZ. HOOOORAY!!!! we did it, after being stuck at the NVC for a while, we finally made it and are getting married really soon. This site has been very helpful, just the little details that it has provided thanks to all!!!
