Later he went to pay for the interview at BanaMex. He said he had to go several times. At first he forgot his passport at home so he had to go back and get it. When he came back he let them know that he was paying for the interview and he gave them the money in US dollars but they told him that he had to pay in pesos!! I thought that he could pay either in pesos or us dollars but I guess not. So then he had to go to get pesos. The total fee he had to pay for the interview was 1900 and something pesos, which is the equivalent of 148 us dollars. So know I'm worried because lately I've been hearing that you pay 171 us dollars. I guess we will find out tommorrow. This is really frustrating because you can't even trust what the juarez consulate website has posted. In there posting it states you pay 131 us dollars and it says that it was updated on april 2009. But everyone here has been paying around 171 us dollars. I just hope that tommorrow everything will go well.

Is the $1900MN a special fee for the K-1 visas? Is it a separate fee from the $400 paid to the NVC? The consulate website says nothing about $1900MN in the Packet 4 pdf (linked here).

There is definitely a separate fee from the one you pay to NVC. My finacee paid hers today at the Banamex in the mall near the consulate, and it was $149 USD.

Oh, and yes, this is for the K-1. We didn't pay any fees to NVC. Only to USCIS for the original application.

MEDICAL EXAM REPORTt:

We showed up at the Clinica Medica Internacional at 5:30a. There were already about 200 people already there when we arrived, in a line that snaked around the entrance area of the clinic (outside). Between then and 6:00a when the doors opened, about 100 more people came. Once the doors opened, the line moved relatively quickly. I should note that a good chunk of the people waiting in line were companions of people going for the medical exam, and they had to go stand aside once the line started moving, so there were less people waiting than had appeared at first. Once my fiancee got to the entrance, I went back to the hotel.

Upon entering my fiancee had to wait until about 7:00a. Then she was called to one of the windows where they gave her an ID bracelet. Then she basically just sat in a common area while she was called to different rooms for different parts of the exam. She didn't need any vaccinations (she didn't get the ones needed for AOS), and she was done in almost exactly 3 hours. She paid afterwards. She paid dollars, but says you can pay pesos as well. They told her to come back at 2:00p for the results.

We went back at 2:00p. We had to wait outside in the sun a bit, and then they let the line of people go around to the back of the building in a different entrance where they called their names and gave them their results.

That's about it. Everything was pretty straightforward.

Also of note, when she was called to the window to get her bracelet, they asked her where she was staying.

Any recommendations on what time we should show up at the consulate tomorrow? It is an open appointment from 8:00a to 10:00a. We actually stopped by the consulate after picking up the medical exam results and talked to the guard there (who was very friendly). He basically said there is no reason to show up early because they just make you wait at the corner at the end of the block until 8:00a.

We were thinking of going a bit earlier anyway, but I would be interested in hearing others' experiences and recommendations.

Thanks!

We are at Juarez now. We paid $135.00 for an adult and 55.00 USD for a child who is 10 years old... plus 10% TAX for the medical exam. We paid this at the Medical Center.

If you are a K-3 (married) and you have to get some shots you pay extra for the shots.

Just as a point of information be prepaired to stay 4 days PLUS your interview day at the consulate if you have to go through the medical exam for a child. The reason is the TB (tuberculosis) shot which takes time for the "reaction" to see if it is possitive or negative.

We got the results of the medical exam the same day! BUT not the TB shot. We got in late Sunday night and were totally exhausted and could not get up at 5 am to go wait in the lines. So we got to the exam at about 10:30 am and went right in! NO WAITING! BUT THIS MAY NOT ALWAYS THE NORM!

First you go into the medical exam building (MEDICAL CLINIC). You go off the street into a gated area where there is a group of people. Some are there to get their results of the exam and some are there for the exam only so dont let the large group of people discourage you.

When you are at the door of the Medical Building the guard asks for your passport and your letter from the American Cosulate General that says your visa was accepted.

Then you walk about 10 feet to a desk and they ask for the same papers. They will keep your paper work (which you will get back later) and forward you to a waiting area. This is where you wait for your name to be called. When its called you will go up to a window then they will take your picture and make a card with your picture and a barcode.

After this is done you will go out of the lobby area and go into the area for a blood test and an eye test. Don't worry there is a lady who directs you what to do and where to go.

Next is the PHYSICAL exam part. They put your information in their computer. This is where you get a paper hospital gown that you change into. They take your blood pressure, meaure height and weight and do a typical short physical exam. They ask about medical history then the next stop is the chest exray.

Then you get dressed and go for innoculations if you are required to do so. Next you pay, and in our case we were told to come back at 2PM for the results.

I dont know if this is the norm or not, but for us... we went in around 10:30 am and had our exam results in hand at 2:45pm the same day. We are now waiting on my fiance's daughter's tuberculosis results.

DO NOT OPEN YOUR MEDICAL EXAM! BE SURE TO LET THEM DO IT!

Hope this helps someone.

I Am Mello

My fiance and I showed up between 8:30 and 9:00am I think. There really is NO reason to get there any time earlier. In fact, you might save yourself a wait if you show up around 9:00am. My fiance did not have to wait in line outside when we showed up as the line of people waiting before had already moved through.

Be prepared with all the correct papers and be honest and things should go well. For us, it went much better than expected.

Well I don't know it's a special fee but it is a different payment if that's what you mean. This fee is for the interview at the consulate. The consulate website says the fee is 131 US dollars. For some reason though the banks were only accepting mexican pesos at the time my fiance did his visa process. I don't think the link you provided is the correct link for K-1. It says its for immigrant visas not for k-1 process. Are you looking at the K-1 process or at some other visa process? Here are K-1 links

This is where you get a paper hospital gown that you change into.

What? This must be new. Unlike the thoroughly humiliating experience my fiance had to go through (along with everyone else) being completely naked and in front of a female nurse.

I just wanted to make sure that I can get the letter at the consolate!! did anyone else do that? Yes, quite a few have, including me. Just make sure you have the Juarez case number (you'll have to call the NVC to get it).

And If i dont have the Funds for the public charge can use a form-184 Affiddalt of Support? is that the right form? If you are doing the K-1 it's the I-134 not I-864, and yes, you are allowed a co-sponsor. For spouses I think it's the I-864.

COngrats on all those who got thier visa!! I will be going to Juarez very soon, I am really nervous about everything, thanks for all the advice everyone! Everything will be great

Yes, I think it is new. My fiance's sister said she did her interview at the old consulate which was much smaller. According to her, about ten people were in a room and all naked. :bonk: But yesterday at the NEW consulate it was in a private place and she was given a paper hospital gown. When she had her chest xray, the nurse told her she could cover herself from the waist down and then have the xray. I dont know if she got a caring nurse or what, but she said it seemed to be very professional.

Today is June 2 2009, we also had to pay 1900 pesos. The lady at the bank said the Consulate has not updated their website yet. At todays exchange rate we paid 144.17 in US dollar. :ranting:
