Hi! If any of you go to Juarez next week, could you please post your experiences???? I'd like to know if they've become harder or if they'll ask to get a vaccine. I'm planning on going there the second week of June (finally!!!) and I could use some help, before I go crazy due to stress :girlwerewolf2xn:

Hello all.... Well the wait seem to FINALLY be over and we are making arrangements to fly out on Sunday... One question I have in my way too thorough but necessary checking and re-checking of all this paperwork is this. My fiance will be bringing her son along for the interview. What paperwork do we have to have included in our paperwork?? We spent the last 2 days at the consulate in Guadalajara getting his passport, but now I cant seem to find what paperwork he needs for this interview. I though I spotted somewhere where he needed something also. ANY help will be appreciated!!! and MAN is this going to be a LONG weekend!! Thanks in advance!

Keep in mind that if you are going on May 25th, it's a US holiday so the consulate will be closed. They also close on 1 random day per week, usually Wednesdays and then they also don't process visas the last Friday of the month...so if you're talking May, you might want to wait a week. I know, easier said than done, but you don't want to get stuck there for longer than you have to...

From the posts i have read and from my husbands experience in december, they ASK you if you want the vaccines, but you DONT!!! 1, for k-1 visas, they are not needed, 2, all the vaccines that are required in teh U.S you can have done in the centro de salud in mexico for free. and just bring your vaccine records to the U.S and have them transcribed by the civil surgion. Also. How did you pay for the medical exam and the visa itself. Can you pay the medical with credit card or u have to pay beforehand at the bank? If that is the case do they give you the info for paying at the bank when u first go to the Consulate?

The same question for visa. I know they tell u to pay it at Banamex but do they give u the info to info for paying at the bank when u first go to the Consulate?

Thanks everyone and thanks JenandDavys for that very useful piece of information.

Cheers

Hi David-J,

The Holiday Inn you want to book is Holiday Inn LAS MISIONES. It's right across from Las Misiones Mall and literally a 2 minute walk to the consulate (you can see it from the hotel parking lot).

I don't know if you can pay the medical with a credit card, we paid in cash, and you pay AT THE CLINIC, not at the bank. The visa fee is paid BEFORE the interview, and you can pay at the Banamex at the mall across the street from the hotel. When you pay the fee, they give you a receipt that you take to the interview to prove that the fee has been paid. When you go into the bank, you have to take a number for a "ventanilla" as you walk in the door. Then you sit down and wait for your number to be called. When they call you up to the teller window, you tell them that you want to pay the visa fee (there is a flat fee for visas, so you don't have to specify that it's a fiancee visa). When we paid at the bank, I think the fee was like $171 US. I think they also ask you for your name. They print the receipt out, and you're done! You have to take this with you to the interview, I don't even think they'll let you inside the consulate without it.

They only give you one receipt, so make sure you don't misplace it. Assuming you are going to go to the consulate early in the morning for the interview, you won't have time to get to the bank to pay the fee beforehand, so pay it the day before. You can also get passport photos at the same mall.

Good luck!

It is just that I kind of freaked out with this influenza thing, imagining that because of that they could probably tell us to get those vaccines.

No problem. alot of people dont take advantage of the fact that you can get the shots done in mexico for FREE and then just have them transcribed here, i know we did and we probably saved atleast 300 dollars.

Has anyone went thru the process with a dependant?? I am still trying to figure out what paperwork if any I need to bring for my fiance's son. Thanks all!!!

What are your specific questions? Is your fiance's son getting a K2 visa? If so, you need to fill out the DS-156 for the child, have an original birth certificate and passport. Also, the child will need to have a medical exam and if the child is under 14, the results will take 72 hours to be ready. You have to pay the visa fee for both the K1 and K2 and the child needs to attend the interview.

If you have more specific questions, ask me and I'll try to help. I just went through the process with a K2 a little over a month ago.

This might be kinda of a dumb question, but hey someone must ask it.

Do have to wait until the exact date of the interview to go to ciudad juarez. From what I understood is no. The type of visa we're going with is the I-130 (CR-1).

For CR-1 visas you will be sent a letter with a date and a time for the interview. According to the counsular officer with whom I spoke it would be good to arrive 1 - 2 days ahead of time so that the medical exam can be completed and the interviewee can have the medical results in hand for the interview at the consulate.

We initially received an email from the NVC with a pdf attachment of the request for interview letter from the consulate in Ciudad Juarez. Due to the pig flu scare our initial interview date was cancelled and I received a phone call from the consulate in Ciudad Juarez advising me of such and giving me a verbal confirmation of the new interview date in June. The actual letter confirming the consulate's phone call was sent to my address here in the US.
