How long do you all wait for an interview date to be set after your case was complete at the NVC?

How long after that was the interview?

Our case was complete last week. Should I call the NVC asnd ask to speak to an operator, use the AVR, get an e-mail or just letter in the mail?

Thanks!

I recommend you wait 4 weeks to receive notice from Juarez. If nothing then call them as that is the only way to get information.

I am not familiar with CR-1 interviews. So don't know about that.

Thanks, everyone, for the congratulations! I will be CERTAIN to write more about the experience as soon as I get the chance; we're incredibly busy right now traveling (we're in Mexico city now, and we'll be back in Merida tomorrow) and once we're in the US on April 30th I will sit down and write it all out (hopefully sooner if I get a chance to breathe!).

Congratulations to you cici!!!! :dance::dance::dance:

And thanks to all who responded for the info on the blanket waiver thing. I was worried about that, but it's good to know that it's nothing I need to freak out about!

For those who have upcoming appointments: relax and take a deep breath, I know I was a nervous wreck and it worked out just fine (no use giving yourself an ulcer over it!).

Me and my fiance went on March 10, 2009. We used the new DS-160 as indicated on the consulate website, but the people reviewing the paperwork right before security check also requested the other 2. Luckily Holiday Inn Express (Paseo Victoria) has computers in the lobby with internet services that we did it in a few minutes.

I would recommend you do all the forms to be safe and not sorry.

The Swine flu thing is really scarying me !!! :unsure: This morning my fiance read that there are 6 cases already found in Juarez about the swine flu. :reading: He has also been hearing rumors that the consulate will be closing during the whole week :crying: . I'd advice anyone who is getting ready to attend the K-1 interview to call before making the arrangements or just keep posted on news, It would be horrible to come from a far away place just for nothing. Of course all of this is just rumors, things we've heard but have not been confirmed. Hopefully things will clear up soon and we won't have to worry about anything.

Well I hope your right epifreak and this whole issue with the swine flu clears up soon because I wouldn't want to make arrangements for nothing. My question is for people who have already gotten their visa. From what I read which has been really helpful is. Is it safe to say that you will have to wait one day after the interview to obtain the visa unless your lucky and get it that same day? Also, if the interview is on a Friday is it very likely you will have to wait until Monday?

I would make an effort to get there Monday if possible, get the physical, the interview and stay away from FRIDAY and avoid having to stay over the weekend! We had to wait an extra day.

NVC will send you a letter saying that an approved fiance visa on you your behalf is being sent to ciudad juarez to be further processed or something like that. That is when you know that it eventually will be there (and wait a bit before you call so you give it time to get there). They will send you guys a fiance packet, which has the directins of what to do next and what papers you will need for the ciudad juarez interview. DO NOT RELY JUST ON THE PAPERWORK THEY SEND YOU FOR COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alot of the info is missing, so look at the guides or double check with somebody on visajourney before you go to make sure you have everything that you need.

i agree with buggylifer, make plans to stay the second day. My husband was in the consulate for a full 12 HOURS!!!!! but he did end up leaving with the visa, some people get a slip though, and are told to come back the next day for their approved visa, so it really depends on how crowded it is, and if you get a slip or not. I would say go prepared for the extra day in juarez. With the 'rumored' cases in juaerz too, i dnt know, i would consider wearing 1 of those stupid looking masks, caughing, sneezing, stay away from people who are doing that, and wash your hands, better yet, carry sanitizer, and use it frequently. do not touch your face, or that of your SO without washing it well.

All US Consulates in Mexico are closed until May 6. Released last night:

http://www.usembassy-mexico.gov/eng/eacs_w...luOutbreak.html

Now the question is, will the clinics be closed at the same time, or perhaps longer? I am going to try calling soon and will post any news. Everyone else please do the same. When I called the US Citizen Emergency Line at the CJ Consulate yesterday I spoke with five people and got a different response on the situation from each one. Thus, the more of us that ask the same questions, the more accurate our "sample."
