We are in Juarez now. Medical tomorrow and interview on Friday. We are hoping to go back on Saturday, but not sure if we'll be that lucky. I'll be sure to post our experience when we get through this process.

Good luck!!! And be safe. I am curious to hear how many people will be in the consulate for you guys, cause i know when alfredo went for his interview, it took him 12 HOURS to get out, with his k-1 visa in hand of course. I was panicking thinking something had happened because i wasnt returning text messages, nothing, i was soooo nervous. He said that there were sooo many people there when he was there, alot of them k-1 visas. Just be safe, and let us know if you have any questions.

We picked up Davys' visa the very next day...it took less than 5 minutes. Also we crossed the border in El Paso which was frustrating. If you're planning on crossing there, be prepared with 20 pesos to cross as well as $6 USD (it has to be USD or they will totally hassle you) at immigration. Also, they are NOT nice...so just try to keep your cool and assure them that the packet that you pick up from DHL is all you need to cross, plus the mexican passport that has the visa inside. Also, DO NOT open the DHL packet, just check to make sure that the visa inside the passport has all the correct information.

If you have any questions, just let me know!

Question for you all.... The Consulate received my packet from the NVC on the 26th of March. I called today to see if Packet 3 had been sent out and they said it will be 90 days before this is sent. Does this seem to be correct?? I would like to hear how long others have taken. Seems to me most people are 30 days or so. Thanks!!!

I think everything with immigration is 'supposed' to be around 90 days. They say that to cover their butts just incase it takes awhile and so abunch of people dont bombard them with calls questioning about their paper. I got my fiance visa approval letter August 11th, saying they were transferring it to juarez and that i would get the fiance visa packet soon. I think i got it about a month or so later. If it takes LONGER than 90, i would call. They will probably give you the same ####### that USCIS gives you, 'well did you wait the 90 days??" "No." ..."Well please call back when you have."....something along those lines.

Ceci just entered the consulate so now the nervous waiting period starts. The medical was easy yesterday. We showed up around 5:40 and had about 50 people in front of us. She was out by 10 a.m. and had her results at 3:30. There seems to be 2 lines at the consulate. One on the side by a fence where they are doing construction and one up front by the entrance. K-1 applicants should go to the front entrance and tell them you have an open appointment for a K-1 visa. We showed up at 7:40 and she was placed in line behind 100-150 people, but I'm sure they weren't all K-1 applicants. I'll post a full review when we get done. Tick tock, tick tock......

For all of you that are planning to stay at the Holiday Inn Express close to the consulate, make sure you are in the right Holiday Inn. I booked the one on Paseo Triunfo and didn't know it at the time, but it was the wrong one. It is 15 minutes away from the Consulate. We showed up on Wednesday to the one right by the Consulate thinking we were at the right place, and they wouldn't let me change the reservation and wouldn't refund the money. We wanted to stay close, so we said forget it and booked here. The address is Av. Paseo de la Victoria #4202, Col. Partido Iglesias. Tel: 656-692-5100. This is the one that is a block and a half from the consulate.

Hi Vivamex,

Yes, K-1 applicants need to get in the big line. When we went in march, my fiance had to get in the big line also. Correct, there is no specific date, but their is a specific timeline. The day before the appointment we went to the consulate around 3pm to educate ourselves on what my fiance needed to do to get in. He asked us what the purpose of the visit. We told him we had an open invitation, and if we could just go to the front of the line (we were trying to be friendly with the guard so he can be nice to my fiance the next day). He tested us a little on the appointment, and he pointed out that there was still a time frame to follow. He was polite and nice about the situation. We told him we wanted to come early in the morning, but the early we could be there is 7:30 because that is when they were allowing the 8:00am appointment people in.

True not everyone is a K-1 visa applicant, but everyone that is in line has an appointment for some reason. that line is not as important as once you are inside. Don't know how much you were able to observe, but from what I remember, is that you get in that big line first. Then they direct you to another line according to your appointment time. Then you go through security check (where they pass you through metal detectors). Then you get in another line, where they tell you where you need to go according to the reason of your visit. That big line is just to get inside the consulate.

Overall, hand in there, as you have already observed, you are not alone right now. Hope you have made friends in order to have somebody to share your thoughts on waiting for your loved ones. That is one thing that helped me out, making friends with people that are just their for support for their loved ones. It helps to settle the nerves.

My fingers are crossed.

I am so happy for you, it must feel so wonderful!! Yay!

I am so happy for you and sad for myself really, this 3 year ban has taken it's toll for sure. Having our lives on hold for so long, not being able to move forward, it's been terrible. I pray we get through this time.
