I've posted bits of info about our experience last week so this post isn't going to be really long. I can't say much more than cici did in her post about the overall time line and procedures at the consulate. My fiance actually printed out her post to study while she was in Juarez. I'll give a little info about the questions that were asked at the interview.

1. Where did we meet.

2. How long have we been dating.

3. What state would she be living in in the USA. She didn't have to give the full address but I've read that they can ask and you should have your fiances memorize it!!!!

4. Questions about our son. Where was he born etc

5. Has she ever been to the USA. Not even illegally?

6. What was she going to do in the USA? She wrote work on the DS-156 and she had an offer of employment letter.

For proof of relationship, they didn't ask to see anything but pictures. That still seems crazy to me given this day and age of digital pictures and powerful computers. It's not that hard to doctor photos. She also looked at our son's birth certificate so maybe that was considered as proof of relationship too.

For those of you who are getting nervous about your upcoming trips, post some specific questions and I'll give you an answer(if I know the answer of course). Be prepared that things are expensive in the hotels and stores/restaurants close to the consulate. There isn't any sort of Wal-Mart close either. If you have extra room in your bags, pack some snacks and water unless money isn't an issue for you. Don't be so nervous about the violence. The locals told her that things have changed dramatically in the last month since the arrival of more military. Men should be prepared to be stopped at random by military and asked for ID and being questioned.

Good Luck to all!

One other thing!

After several times of referring to me as her fiance, the CO suddenly referred to me as her husband and my fiance said: "Don't you mean my fiance". She said the CO's reactions was sort of weird about that and my fiance really thinks she was trying to catch her calling me her husband. We have been living together for over 2 years so perhaps the CO thought we were already married. Drill it into your fiance's head that they need to refer to you as their fiance. I know in Mexican culture, it's common for people to refer to their significant other as husband/wife even when it's not legally the case.

Oh MY! The OC did the same thing to me too!!! Twice!! And he looked at me funny too (Very funny)!!!

I'm getting a "Constancia de negatividad" (letter from Registro Civil saying that there is no record of marriage) from Merida AND my fiance's home town JUST IN CASE this happens and it becomes an issue. Depending on how long it takes to get one from Cancun (and if we have enough time), we're getting one from there too, to cover all the places we have lived. I really hope this doesn't present a problem for us, my fiance has been introducing me as his "esposa" for ages, and my mom as "suegra". Now he says "prometida" and "futura suegra" but who knows, in a moment of nervousness he might slip up.

This is a Juarez-specific question, and I just want to confirm: all documents that are in Spanish DO NOT need to be translated into English FOR THE K-1 INTERVIEW in Juarez, is this correct??? I know in other consulates it is required, and it will be required for AOS, but at this specific stage, I haven't read anywhere where documents in Spanish need to be translated into English. On the specific instructions on the Juarez consulate website, it says that only NON-ENGLISH AND NON-SPANISH documents need to be translated.

As you know I haven't been there yet, but I have been told that anything in Spanish does not need to be translated into English. I think it was Cici and Amy/Aldo that told me this. They have both been to Juarez.

Hey guys, my visa was sent last tuesday from the NVC to Juarez, Just wondering when yoiu guys called to see when it got there, and when they sent out the letter or packet, thanks guys! this really is a helpful thread.

I started calling a few days after NVC sent the information to Juarez. Not sure if you are in Mexico or U.S. The number to call from the U.S. is 800-919-1754 and the number to call from Mexico is 01-477-788-7070. If you call from the U.S. they charge you $7 per call and from Mexico they charge you MXP $57.50 per call. Payable by Visa or Mastercard. Their answers are vague and sometimes incorrect, so you have to push them for details to try and find out exactly what you want to know. They will tell you it will be 4-8 weeks before you receive packet 3 in the mail. I received packet 3 here in the U.S. about a month after Juarez received it. My fiance received her packet 3 in Mexico last week, so almost 3 months after Juarez received the information from NVC. Best of luck!!

Sorry it's taken me so long to post. Davys' visa was approved at the Juarez consulate yesterday. He was there for about 7 hours. I've listed the questions they asked him below:

His name and when he was born?

Where did we meet?

Why does he want to marry me?

Do I have any kids and if so how old?

If he had met my family?

If I had met his family?

Where we would be living?

What he would be doing when he was in the US?

When we planned to get married?

He said that overall the interview part only took about 15 minutes, the rest of the time was just waiting. The CO also kept referring to me as his wife but he corrected her and she then said future wife. He said that the CO was very nice to him, joking around and laughing.

At this point, we are just waiting on the mess that is DHL. The phone number states that the visa isn't ready yet but the internet shows that it is, but it won't tell you what location to pick it up at. So we're trying one and then the other.

Also, when your fiances go to the consulate, be very careful about the people standing outside, numerous people approached Davys about things he was "missing" in his packet or how many copies he needed of what and that his pictures wouldn't work. They are just wanting your money, so ignore them. Also, DHL closes at 6PM, not 7PM like the taxi drivers tell you.

Hope that helps with any of your questions. Today we're leaving Juarez and crossing into El Paso, and then home to Denver.

Good Luck to all of you!!

I would recommend, calling about 3 weeks from the time you receive the NVC notice. But you start putting all the paperwork together now. You don't need to wait for the letter from Juarez to arrive.

This is the website address that is on the letter:

http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/immigr...visa-forms.html

That website address then directs you to the following address:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...types_2993.html

Also, review the following information:

http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/hivfiance/

Any questions, let us know!

The only translated form in which my fiance presented in March 10, 2009, was his birth certificate. That was only because I made a copy of the original translation that was submitted in the original petition packet (I-129F). We presented other Spanish paperwork, and everything was OK!

Thanks for all the information you are giving us here. For us, the ones who are still planning to go to Juarez, every bit of information is truly helpful. I cannot deny that I'm so very nervous when I think on going through what some of you guys have gone through but I know my baby is worth it (L)

So, once again, how many days did it take for you to get the visa? Did you get it the day after the interview?

It is great to get this input. I would have never thought they would use that "husband" thing to try to catch you. It is correct that for some of us, it becomes almost natural to call our fiances "husband" even if we are not married. I hope that won't be a problem as my fiance and I usually call the other "husband" and "wife". Actually some of our conversations start by using those words. I guess I should remove those, right????

We got ours the day after the interview. First thing the next morning, she was standing in line at DHL waiting for them to open at 9am. She was done at the consulate around 10:30am the day of her interview. I think the time you finish the interview can have an impact on the time of delivery of the visa. Also, and I don't know this for sure, the consulate and DHL may have been trying to be efficient that week because it was the week of the holidays. I know we got ours faster than cici or paul did just a week before us.
