Approved, but it wasn't easy!!!!!

Long story short, she said the consular lady wasn't nice at all and she wanted to see OUR son's American passport. I listed his name on the applications but I never thought it would be such a problem. I didn't think it was that hard to figure out that since I'm his father, he didn't need a visa. She had to almost beg her and explain to her that it has been so expensive to do this and that Queretaro isn't close and the cost to come back again would be almost impossible. She said that she didn't even say she was approved but just told her to go to pay at DHL, so then she took a few steps and turned around and asked if she was approved. The lady said yes but in a not so nice tone of voice.

Someone please tell me that I shouldn't worry. I don't think they would send you to DHL if you're not approved? Also, I would think they would have given her some sort of piece of paper giving the reason or request for more info if it wasn't approved?

So this is a weird feeling. I want to be excited but at the same time I have this little bit of doubt in my head so I don't think I'll be happy until she has the visa in her hand.

Can someone tell me if the number from DHL is strictly numbers or if it has letters in it too? She gave me the number that they said to give when she calls so I assume that is the same number to use online. Does it take a few hours for anything to show up online? I tried checking but it says that it isn't in the system or something.

Relax............................................

I don't think she would have sent you to the DHL desk if you weren't approved.

And, the DHL website. It can take 1, 2, 3 or more days to show up on their system. I drove myself crazy a few weeks ago and kept going to the consulate to find out what was happening. It just takes time. You're through the worst part.

Hang on in there.

Paul

Thanks! She said it was just a little weird. She said she saw other consulars laughing and being so nice with people and almost shouting they were approved that she was so taken back by her experience. She said she overheard a guy explaining when he was in the USA illegally and explaining why he was in jail multiple times and the guy was approved. So she was a little shocked with what happened to her. I would've been so furious if that was the reason for denial. How can they ask to see an American passport? Why is that even their business? He's an American citizen just like me. He doesn't need a damn visa to get into the country. I don't get it...............Anyways now the wait for DHL.

Alfredo had problems with the chicanos when he crossed the boarder, so if you plan on doing that, be prepared. Sorry you had a crappy experience, hope all goes well for you though. Alfredo's interviewer actually looked through every1 of our photos and questioned him about every1 that was in them. (before we went to the interview, every1 kept saying that their proof of reltationship was never even asked for), but thank god we took lots, b/c the guy looked through it all.

Anyone know why the consulate is closed today? Not processing applications? Or maybe someone has the 800 number for the consulate, the one that charges you $7 a minute to call?

I recently heard, that ever since they moved to the new location, they have been at least closed once a week. It seems as though they are not 100% completely moved or in place. It happened to us also. They were closed on Wednesday the week we were there. But they also had plans to close on Monday of the following week. Even the locals don't know why they close so much. Especially when they are non-holidays!

Hello,

We haven't gotten the interview packet from the Juarez Consulate which they supposedly sent to both my fiance (in Mexico) and I (in the USA) on Feb. 17, 2009. They were able to tell us by phone this date that they sent it and said that it would be fine to download the paperwork from the website and then go to Juarez and have the information window print off our appointment letter. I read that someone has done this and has had success, but I'm still nervous about it. Does anyone know what the issue is with the packets not arriving?

Also, I read that they opened up a new consulate in Juarez. Is this where my fiance will have to go for the interview process? Have the locations for the medical exams changed as well or are they the same?

Thanks!

You do NOT have to wait for the letter from the consulate. Call them, get your case number and go to Juarez. Once there line up at the information window, give them your case number and they will print out a copy of the letter they sent on Feb 17. Once you have the letter you can do your medical and then your interview.

I would highly recommend the Holiday Inn Express. It's within a 10 minute walk of the medical facility and the consulate.

Good Luck.

Paul

That is so annoying. Now we have to wait until Monday. Closed for holy Thursday and Good Friday. Any idea if we go over to the consulate, will they tell us if they are open on Monday? I am so frustrated.

That is such a load of #######. How can they just decide to close one day? It is the busiest consulate in the WORLD and they just decide to close. Unbelievable!!! Luckily my fiance was able to get there yesterday or that would have made a disaster of our plans. I love my country and countrymen(most) but my government go get f#cked as far as I'm concerned. This immigration stuff is a bunch of bullsh#t!!! It's no wonder that so many try to do it illegally. It's so difficult, takes so much time and is SO expensive to try to do things the right way.

Well, luckily she got her visa from DHL today!!! When she called last night at six they said it was ready but they were closing so she went at like 8:30 this morning and waited in line for them to open. I guess the moon and stars were all aligned for us. With the consulate just deciding to close today and the holidays coming up we didn't have much room for problems. Also, I think she got the visa from DHL a little quicker than some of the other recent posters.

Hi everyone. I have some questions going through Juarez with a K3 for my wife.

Things are going well with our visa process but I am confused as to my next steps, here's some background info...

I filed I-129F and I-130 concurrently for my Spouse Maggie in Mexico in November 2008. The I-130 approval notice arrived February 20th in my mailbox.

Maggie sent via email the DS3032 letter. She received an email back several days later that the letter form had been successfully submitted/accepted.

I paid both the IV and AOS bills online.

Just yesterday I received a letter from the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez. Maggie's been scheduled for an interview on May 8th!!! At the bottom of the letter it does say "Preference Category: K3 - MEX". The appointment letter pointed us to: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/immigr...visa-forms.html

HOWEVER, this is where I'm confused. Do I do the following?

PACKET 3

Send IV (DS-230) and AOS (I-864) packages to the U.S. Consulate in Juarez before interview date (or do we just show up with these docs?).

Obtain the docs on the checklist to bring to the interview.

PACKET 4

Review medical exam procedures and obtain docs on checklist for the interview.

Complete Medical Exam prior to Interview.

Anything I'm missing here?

My confusion is that I thought I would have to send the IV and AOS packages to the NVC. But looks like I send them directly to the US Consulate in Juarez.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Tim

Not sure why you filed both the 129F and 130. The 129F is only for a K1 fiance visa. I did the K1 so it's a little different. I just read through the instructions for the K3 on the consulate's website and for me, the language seems to indicate that you need to bring those with you to the interview. Yes, it's your responsibility to complete the medical exam before your interview date.

Yes, the new consulate has been in business since about November 2008. I would also recommend the Holiday Inn Express.

I have a link in my signature that shows a map of all the location surrounding the new consulate.\
