Im new here, i applied for the fiance visa in may, we have been approved since october 11,

My question is, the packet that she has says she needs a Mexican passport, original and duplicate of her birth certificate to take to the Juarez consulate.

She recently applied for and recieved her passport, but she turned in her original birth cert. in order to recieve her passport. Shes in reynosa now, is she going to have to go back to her pueblo to get an original copy or can she just take a black and white copy, i need to know, this is what is holding me back from leaving this weekend

Hi I was approved on Oct 10th, still waiting for my packet to arrive? Did you get yours yet?

Alfredo just got of the phone with USCIS, and he talked to this girl and he explained everything. She then put him on the phone with i guess one of her bosses, and he explained everything to him, the guy said that the H2b visa is his permission to work. and that he shouldnt have any problems. If he has a 'problem' he just shows his h2b visa and he will be fine. So i am hoping everything will be fine. Alfredo is really excited that he can go back to working. He was feeling really bad that he couldnt 'provide', and that i was working every day, he was pouting and saying that he is the 1 that should be doing that. Now we both can :-D thanks for the help.

I'll keep you guys posted and should know something by 3 or 4pm tomorrow (eastern time).

I bought Diana a 1-way ticket from Juarez to Acapulco for $296 leaving Wednesday, December 24th. She really wants to be back in her hometown for Christmas so I decided to get it today.

If I wait until tomorrow evening, either there will be no flights or the prices will be much higher. I am very disappointed with Aeromexico, might I add. We have a $170 credit from a previous canceled flight and we couldn't apply it towards this flight to Acapulco. They said it has to be the same flight pattern as last time which was from Juarez to New York. I have never heard of this policy. All the airlines I have ever experienced canceled flights with allow you to apply your credit to any flight, as long as it is through the same airline.

...I have a lot of bills coming up:

Flight from Juarez to Acapulco ($296)

Flight from Acapulco to JFK ($300-$400)

Flight from JFK to Detroit ($20 <I have an $85 credit with NWA and I know there will not be a problem>)

Marriage license ($23)

Cost to get married ($175)

AOS ($1010)

Dental insurance for Diana ($105 for the year + costs for dental cleanings)

English as a second language class ($300)

Total Costs (approx. $2,279) :(

This does not include all of the medical vaccinations she will need...Speaking of which: Does anybody know how much or the range I can expect to pay for all of the vaccinations. Also, are the vaccinations required before sending in the AOS package or do the vaccinations come later on in the process?

Good thing that student loan is coming in the mail the first week of January!

Question: Can I extend my time limit to go to my interview?

In the NOA2 it said I had until January 8 to go to my interview.

I have recieved my invitation letter but it does not say any time limit. It just says I have an open invitation.

I am not going to be able to make it before Jan 8.

Can I show up any day next year when I'm ready?

Do I have to call and extend my time?

Where do I call or what do I do?

Please help. Thanks

Arianna---Diana's NOA2 expired in June of 2008 but her situation was a little different. We did not extend anything. However, I can't respond on whether you can show up after the January 8th expiration date. You are talking about the expiration on the NOA 2, right?

Anyways, Diana is definitely inside of the US embassy in Juarez as I write this. She will not have her phone but told me that she will call when she finds out the outcome. She thinks she will know something by 5pm Juarez time so look for an update from me by 7:30pm tonight. We have had terrible luck with her visa so far. Personally, I don't think she will be denied (we are good on the financial support, the proof of relationship, she has never done drugs or came to the US illegally, and all our papers are in order) but she could be asked to return at a later date if her 2x2 photos look bad or something really minor like that.

See you guys in about 7 hours!!!

I got a call around 7:15pm and it was Diana. She sounded quiet so I was like "You got denied?" She was like "ya, I was missing one form and I have to come back in 2 weeks." :crying:

Then she told me she was just joking, she got approved!!

She was out of the embassy by 5pm and she was waiting outside for 4 or 5 hours. I will post a more detailed review luego.

Did not mean to do a double post like that....

Anyways, I am glad that I bought her ticket yesterday to Acapulco because there are no tickets available right now!!

To clear things up a bit Diana got to the embassy at 8am and said she was waiting outside for almost 5 hours in the cold before being allowed in. Then everything went smoothly and she made it out with her visa by 5pm. They asked her very basic questions (How did you meet? What does he do? etcetera)

My wife spends about 50 to 75 bucks a month calling her mom. We have a plan with At&t that has international calling. It is about 9 cents per minute. The plan adds 5 bucks per month to our phone plan. If they ever get VOIP phones in Mexico I will probably buy one for her parents and pay for the internet service. It will be cheaper than her monthly phone bills.

Talbert-- Skype has a plan where you can call landlines unlimited for $5.95/month to Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. Outside of those three cities it is 2 cents / minute. And Skype always has free Skype to Skype. I am assuming you have the internet so all you need to do is get a microphone. Then if your wife's parents have the internet too, all they would need is a microphone. Then you each go to http://www.skype.com and register a name (for free) and you can talk unlimited (for free), as often as you want.

Here is the $5.95/month 2 cents/minute plan to landlines, 20 cents/minute to cell phones: http://skype.com/allfeatures/subscriptions/mexico/

Good for you guys!!!

So can I go past my expiration date or what do I do?

I am definitely not going to make it before.

I think you will be fine, you may want to post in the K1 forums just to make sure, here is what I found:

From YuAndDan: "USCIS always puts an 4 month validity on I-129F NOA2 letter, the consulate has the authority to extend the validity."

Quoted from YuAndDan, second post in this link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry2352393

...Diana's NOA 2 expired in June of 2008 and she passed her interview 12/23/08.

When are you planning to make the trip to Juarez?

:bonk:

posting a question like that in the k-1 forum isn't where it belongs. a new thread in this forum would be a better choice as not everyone reads the consulate specific threads like this one.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures General Discussion

If you are engaged to a non US Citizen and they want to immigrate and live with you in the USA then this forum is for you. General discussion relating to K2 Visas should also go here.

The Foreign Embassy and Consulate General Discussion

You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.
