Good afternoon,

I'm trying to limit the time we must spend in Juarez. I know we will need one day for medical, and another day for the interview, then we have to wait a few days before we can interview for the waiver. Is it possible to get the medical in another city, prior to going to Juarez? Do they have hours on the weekends for medical exams in Juarez?

-Marty

I think that the only place you can do the medical are the two places they list in Ciudad Juarez.

In the packet of information it says "The only medical offices authorized to perform medical examinations on behalf of this Consulate are:" and then it lists the two places. Also, it says they are open Mon-Fri from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Thanks, the info has been helpful. Seems we'll need to take the time anyhow.

so i received my NOA2 on 09/12/2008, and supposedly NVC said my case was fwded to the consulate on 10/10/2008. i have yet to receive anything from the consulate and my fiance hasn't received anything as well. should i be worrying at this point ? judging by my dates when should i expect to receive this "invitation letter"?

when i do receive the invitation letter, will it have a date of when the interview is? will the medical have a date or when the appointment is? or will everything just have a Monday-Friday 8am-5pm ???

Reading the thread from page 121 forward will answer most questions, plus Ronin's post on 121 has a lot cool pics.

In an nutsehll, K-1 and the medical is an open appt. There have been several discussions about the time frame required over the last dozen pages.

5-6 weeks after the embassy receives the package seems to be running the norm for receiving the consulate package. All the forms in the packet are also posted on embassy website which a link to has been posted several times on this thread.

I am not sure anyone will be able to answer your question about hotels around the consulate because they open the brand new embassy tomorrow and it is located on a different side of town. The new address is:

Paseo de la Victoria #3650

Fracc. Partido Senecú

Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua C.P. 32543

Whatever is more convenient for you after you factor in time and money. From looking at the map it appears as though Puebla is a good 10 hour bus ride to Juarez so I would probably fly.... IMHO you should receive the appointment letter within days, at most 2 weeks.

I would say it'd be worth your money to fly there. My fiance lives in Oaxaca, which is near Puebla, and he flew from Toluca. Maybe your fiance could take a bus to Toluca and then fly to Ciudad Juarez. His ticket wasn't too expensive. He flew with Interjet.

Hey Caity, I totally agree. By the way, I want to congratulate you again on your approval. I think I did earlier, but I have been mucho occupado lately.

However, I did do the drive from Guadalajara to Juarez with my fiancee. I would never want to make that trip again, but it did add a spirit of adventure. 16 hours each way, not overly competent in my spanish, depending on a woman for directions. :-)

I tell people that I have seen more of Mexico than most Mexicans. I really enjoyed Zacatecas (sp?) on the way back.

One of the most interesting parts of the drive was the autopista (sp?) which is the toll highway and really the only highway. We were stopped at four different military checkpoints. They were not like professional checkpoints, just 5 or 6 teenage looking men with machine guns and a sand bag machine gun nest for back up.

But in all honesty, they were very, very, nice. Our car was only searched once outside of Juarez, and it was very minimal search. The soldiers always showed us great respect. One of those times were my initial perceptions were way off base.

I have to giggle a little at that- because in Oaxaca, there are always trucks with like... 10 military men standing up in the back with their guns, just riding around. I've never ever seen them do anything, I think they just ride around for fun. Very often, they are texting on their phones, haha. Of course, when someone is shot in the park, they are nowhere to be found... hmmm.

From what I've heard and what the consulate told my fiance when he called last month- they moved the consulate last weekend. I think (not entirely sure) that it's probably going to be open soon, if not already. So no- your fiance will not have her interview at the same consulate.

You (And me) and the rest of us who have not been to Juarez for the visa interview will be going to the new building at the above address! My fiancée is living in Juarez now and she says it is far away from the old consulate (30 minutes) and that the new consulate has 80 or 120 service windows (can't remember the exact #), but it has a lot more service windows. I think the old one had less than 20.

Glad you are aboard. I suggest reading the thread from pg. 121 forward. There is a lot of good info. Plus, the answers to almost all the basic questions have been answered several times.

Though we all appreciate someone who learns from the past, don't hesitate to ask questions if you cannot find the answers. Half the value of this site is the re-assurance that you did not screw something up big time. :star:

I gota quick question for all those who have already completed the ciudad juarez interview, I have approximately 31 pictures of me and alfredo, plus the original envelope that he sent me a letter in, and 1 of the billions of calling cards that i used to talk to him in mexico. I also have a copy of a check that i used to pay for alfredo's car insurance, and also a copy of his insurance bill that shows that he is living with my mom. What do you guys think about this proof of relationship? is it ok? or sufficient? or do i need more? If so, more of what specifically?

I spent 2 months in mexico over the summer and i was there last christmas too, i just included the pictures of me and him together, do you guys think i should include pics of mexico or anything ot prove that i was there? Alfredo is going to be going to mexico the 12th or 13th of december so im starting to stress and double check everything.

Let me know what you guys think!!! THANKS
