Notario Publico, I suppose (except that in Mexico, in order to be a Notary Public, you must be a lawyer first).

I mentioned in an earlier thread about how getting to the medical clinic at 4 a.m., was a waste of time, IMO. Well, the same goes for getting to the embassy. There is no need for anyone to get there at 4 a.m.

Everybody has an invitation/appointment letter with a time on it. For K-1's it is always 8 a.m. or when you show up and for other types of visa's I am personally aware of 6:45, 7:45, and 9:00 a.m. time slots.

Yes, people do get there at 4 a.m., and line up single file. Why, I have no earthly idea. We showed up at 7:15. The consulate had divided the line into two groups at that time. The 6:45's and everybody else. At this time the line for the second group was two single file lines. And we were towards the back. Then they decided to create three lines and moved us up right next to, you geussed it , the 4 a.m., people. :star:

I actually ended up beside my Las Vegas buddy who the day before had been at the medical clinic 4 am and had also been at the embassy since 4 am.

Then once it got closer to 8 a.m.; the security guards made sure that only the 7:45's and 8:00's were in the second group, and everybody else was moved further down to create a third group. This included my Las Vegas buddy who apparently had a 9 am time slot.

So basically, him, his wife and their 7 yr. old son stood in line for four hours, just to be moved back to another group that would not get in before 9 a.m. What was the point in all that waiting?

Anyway, they let our group start entering the embassy at 8 a.m. on the dot. The line moved quickly because a lot of the people in line were companions like myself who were not permitted in.

In conclusion, early arrival does not give priority at all. You do need to ask questions and understand why the lines are shifting, otherwise you might be standing in the wrong line. We experienced two major shifts before the guards had clearly created a 7:45/8:00 entry group.

My SO was in at about 8:15 and we arrived at about 7:15. And don't panic about the number of people in line. I would guess almost half the people are their for support and do not actually enter the building.

We got there at 7:45, my husband had gone inside at about 8:00 or 8:15 (can't remember), knew he was approved at 11:30, but he didn't get his visa printed and documents given back until 1:30, and then he was able to leave.

I hope no one gets frustrated with my over-abundance of questions... if you do, well then you just don't have to answer them :)

Angel has passport pictures to bring the the interview, but I have this feeling that they will tell him they aren't the right size or whatever... have your fiances/spouses re-taken their passport pictures in CDJ before the interview just to be safe? Should Angel just head to that place after his medical exam just to take them again? If so, where is the place? Just right across from the consulate?

Thanks guys. I promise the end is near to all my questions. (at least concerning this step in the process :P)

Passport size pictures are fine. My husband took the pictures in his home town, and those pictures were fine. No need to re take. If you for some reason feel his pictures will be rejected, then it's better if he takes them again....for your peace of mind.

My husband was out of the consulate, visa in hand at 12:00 or 12:30 (I remember exactly cause I had just checked out of the hotel, and was having breakfast...and then he walked in, with a big smile on his face, will never forget that)....but I know a couple who got there 1 hour earlier than us, got out at 4:00 pm. So Brian is right, no need to get up super early. I think we got there 1 hour or 1.5 before the interview time.

Good luck, and don't worry. You can keep asking until it's over, that's why we are here to help.

Ok... so I'm talking with my fiance right now and he's beyond nervous for his medical exam. He's convinced they are going to find something and tell him he's dying... yeah, I've got a keeper.

Can someone answer this? When they take the blood samples, what are they testing the blood for?? I know the X-rays are for tuberculosis, but what else are they looking for?

Thanks

About 1 p.m. or so, for our approval. Another K-1 came out at the same time, so I think 1 pm is probably the earliest people come out with an approval.

The passport pics is the only part that made me mad.

I took our photo's out of the drugstore passport folder, so as to not raise any suspicions. As has been noted in the past, sometimes American photo's are denied just because.....

Well, the lady asked my SO where the pictures were taking. And my SO truthfully answered in the U.S. Not good enough, she had to leave the embassy go across the street and have them re-done. The cost was $8 U.S. a couple of weeks ago before the exchange frenzy.

It turned out okay, my SO thought the she looked prettier in the photo. ( Geeez, women). And of course we were approved with no problems and done by 1 pm'ish. But it did add stress.

I would just have them re-made, unless you want to stand on principle or if your SO won't weird out at maybe having to leave and go back. The latter sounds like a tougher task for your futura hubby. :star:

My husband did his photos across the street from the consulate since all the ones he had were the wrong size (we even submitted the wrong size with the I-129F application since those were the only kinds he could have anyone take of him). I think his were $15 but I can't remember.

As for the blood tests, I'm not sure about that either...

YGandMAT - my husband and I sent his AOS, EAD, and AP application this weekend. I was wondering if between now and any forms are received, are the only type of appointment we get is a biometrics (for AOS and EAD both?)? We did the I-693 with the civil surgeon who transcribed the vaccines, but in the guides for AOS, it talks about a test for tb, syphillis, and HIV. Are we going to have to make an appointment for that, or was that part of the medical exam if my husband didn't go through as a K1?

I have been wondering about the actual interview. How is it? Do they actually take the mexican into a room and actually interview them, or is the actual 'interview' done at the window too like most of the other stuff. I was just asking because they seem to ask quite a bit of questions at the window, and no one that has been to juarez for the visa has really mentioned anything about the interview as far as going into the another room, they just pretty much repeat the questions that were asked, so that was confusing me.

1) does the interview take place in another room, or at the window?

2) if it takes place at the window, im guessing they are not going to be looking at much proof. I looked at a preview post and it said that they didnt even check the paperwork. Can you tell me what they looked over, paper work wise for you (people who have been to juarez and have had their interview)
