My fiance is the most stubbern man I have ever known :bonk:

He just told me that he still has not gotten his passport. He said he went last week to get another ID because he can't find his and the guy told him it will take 2 months to get his ID. And he doesn't know how long it will take to get his passport. If he doesn't have his passport when he goes to his interview will they just refuse to do the interview? We already have to file the waiver and now more time will be wasted because of the passport. What can we do now? :(

It should not take him very long to get his passport - have him read here to understand what he needs to get it. If he has his birth certificate and credencial de elector he doesn't need any other ID. Also need photos, to fill out the form and pay the fee:

http://www.gob.mx/wb2/egobierno/egob_Requi...ar_el_pasaporte

He will need his passport for the interview and medical - no exceptions.

Did they give him the list of acceptable ID? School ID is ok if it's official and current. Does he have a Matricula Consular from when he lived in the US? That is also acceptable.

Big congrats Emma - you are on your way and one big step closer - YAY! When do you think you'll go to your interview?

BTW, my fiance said he received his packet in the mail in Mexico a few days ago (after his interview). I thought that was pretty impressive considering the mail system in DF and the fact that he regularly does not receive his Tel Mex bill!

Congradulations Emma!

And thank you all for the prayers! I would truely be lost right now without VJ! (L)

Thank you girls! I still don't know when I'll be going to CDJ, we weren't really expecting the packet until the end of this month so it really took us off guard

We are thinking we might keep our original plan and go during the week after Christmas - CDJ is only closed on Dec. 25th and Jan. 1st, right? My fiance is changing jobs pretty soon so he won't be able to go CDJ with me until that week, and I really want him to be there, even if he can't get into the consulate with me. But on the other hand I'm kind of worried about getting a waiver, so going to CDJ as soon as possible would be the best option to avoid waiting even longer.

We are already working on getting all the evidence together and filling the forms out, so I'll be ready for the interview in a week or two in case we decide that I should go early in December, even if it is by myself :(

Well Ladies,

I am back home again, alone :crying: It is difficult returning alone all the time. I know that hopefully this is the last time I go and come back alone. I brought almost ALL his things. I only left him with a week's worth of clothes. I hope we don't encounter any problems otherwise I will have to return his things. Here is our timeline for next week: Monday he flies alone to CDJ, Tuesday has medical, I join him Tuesday night, Wednesday interview and we cross to El Paso (hopefully). Friday evening we go HOME!!! Please keep us in your prayers. I will update from CDJ and let you know EVERYTHING!

waiting4oliverio,

You're not the only one with the procrastinating fiance, mine also barely got his passport, last week. Well, he went to go get it, but it's not ready yet, he has to go pick it up this week. It doesn't take too long to get the passport though. He went like on Tuesday of last week and they told him to go pick it up this week, so don't worry too much. Just tell oliverio to go soon. Do like I did, just tell him that you need it NOW, no more waiting, scare him a little so he goes, sound a bit mad when you tell him, I bet it will work :D

CDJ is only closed on Dec. 25th and Jan. 1st, right?

As someone who has been there around a holiday, you can not count on their official "list" of holidays to be true. We went the week of Thanksgiving last year, and, in a string of bad luck that occurred while there, the Consulate decided to close THREE days for Thanksgiving-Wed, Thurs, and Fri. Even our attorney was shocked. Javier ended up having to change his flights and go on Monday. Of course I didn't have that choice so I had to go home while he went to the interview himself, and well, what happened then is history...

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the Consulate decided to close that whole time between Christmas and New Years, or do what they did the day after Thanksgiving and make it an "admin" day, which means they're in there, but you're not! Also, and this is like the ICING on the cake, they gave people APPOINTMENTS for that day after Thanksgiving. Oh the ignorance!

waiting4oliverio,

LOL oh the joys of Mexican men. When I need Javier to do something, I simply tell him if he doesn't do it NOW, he's not getting his Visa, and I MEAN IT. He usually listens, but to be honest, it doesn't work as well as I'd like it to...for whatever reason I got the hubby who doesn't really care too much about the Visa. He never asks about it or anything!

LOL I feel like the "old timer" since we've been through all this already. Never mind that we'll be going through it again in about 2 years time! I'm most happy to share my experiences if it will help you guys out who are getting ready to go through it. As for the interesting info, please do share-this has definitely piqued my curiosity!!

KK I have a question: On the DS-156 did you leave blanks for the items that did not pertain to you or did you write none or NA? I want to make sure I did it right. We don't need the supplemental form do we? The one that states for males between the ages 16-45 right?

I hope the consulate does not decide to take a longer vacation and close the Wednesday before. I had emailed them and they told me they were only closed on Monday and Thursday . I know they are not that reliable so I hope that information is true.

Both the DS-156 and supplement are required - we did both. He put NOT APPLICABLE for things that don't apply.
