Hello guguis! That's great that you only have that left to do.

Here's some more news about the new consulate. Article from July 10: http://www.elpasotimes.com/ci_9832161?source=most_emailed It looks like maybe the new consulate will actually finish in September! I wonder if the security & construction thing was resolved...

Hello,

On the DS 156, does anyone know what #14 is looking for?? It asks for the National Identification Number. Is this the number on his Credencial de Elector?? Thanks!

Most people who went through the CDJ consulate left that blank.

From everything I have read it is similar to AOS, some get interviews and some get approved without an interview.

Hey everyone-

Our petition has been approved!!

Now... I think we were approved a little quicker than we had anticipated (nothing wrong with that...) and so I am wondering- since the appointments for the K1 visa in CDJ are open appointments, is there a certain time frame that we have to follow once he receives the Packet 3 of information? Does he have to go for his interview within a month of receiving the information? We are just trying to think about when the interview will be... Thanks!!!!

That's great! I believe you have 4 months to use it, but your Packet 3 will probably tell you. Since Chaz just got his - does it say?

I am talking about from the airport in TEXAS (EL PASO) to the bridge. Not from the airport in Juarez to the bridge. When I look on google(maps) it looks like a 5 minute ride. Were you talking about the airport in Texas or Juarez?

My SO wants to pick me up with her friend on the Mexican side of the bridge. She said the ride from the airport in El Paso, Texas, USA to the American side of the bridge should be no more than $20. Then I am to walk across the bridge with my luggage (she said it is very common and lots of people do it so I won't look weird). Then her and her friend will pick me up in Juarez at the bridge. Finally, she said that if I were to take a taxi from El Paso, Texas, USA to where I will be staying in Juarez it will cost around $100 in a taxi.

P.S. I will be stopping at a Bank of America along the way. I google mapped it and there are lots of them in El Paso. The one I am going to is 10 minutes away. (I have to add my SO's name to the "SAFE SEND" program that Bank of America offers. Bank of America bought out the La Salle banks which are in the Midwest for about 5 billion dollars, a few months ago. All of the former La Salle banks in Michigan now have Bank of America signs but they will not be officially trained and converted to Bank of America until October therefore all the former La Salle employees have no clue what SAFE SEND is!!!

P.S.S. SAFE SEND is a way of sending money to Mexico for FREE! You go into a local Bank of America branch and add the name of the person who lives in Mexico to the list and from that point on you just call a number and tell the operator how much you want to transfer. I tried to go into a Bank of America by my place in Michigan but they don't know what it is yet. They could only do a $35 wire transfer. I have paid hundreds in Western Union fees so that is why I opened a Bank of America checking account. I highly recommend them. OK, sorry for the long post. :wow:

greatgate, at the other forum I visit, a lot of people there use a taxi driver named Alfredo (info on him is at cdjuareztransportation.com), where it is $35 from El Paso to CDJ, and then $50 from CDJ to El Paso (because of the line at the bridge). Many people at the other forum have used him and written about how friendly & knowledgeable he is, along with him making them feel safe.

I'm not sure yet how I'll go, but I think I'll just grab a random taxi and if they charge more than $35, I'll use someone else, and just meet my fiance at the hotel.

jmmr - welcome!!

Hello again! And hello CAITY! How is your vacation with your hubby? Are you having a great time? :innocent:

I would like to start preparing for the interview.... It seems that NVC has shipped our case to CDJ (not 100% sure- I used the DHL website from another forum) ANYWAYS! :P After CDJ Receives my petition...how long after that will Jorge receive the packet. Another question...I talked to this woman lady who "helped" us at the beginning, and she told me that I'm the one who receives the packet, not him..... and that i HAVE to go to mexico. I'm probably going to end up going after all... on another (k1) forum, they keep telling me that I don't HAVE to go and that he does receive the packet. I just wanted to hear your guys' opinion as well. I am getting very excited but I keep looking at people's timelines from the past and it looks like it takes a month for him to get the packet after CDJ receives it? On several it was about 2 weeks. Does anyone have an estimate? I was hoping it would be like 1-2 weeks :bonk:

So far the only thing I KNOW i have to prepare is:

Fiancée Packet

Fee Information, form CDJ 446

Instructions, form CDJ 400

Statement of Intent to Marry, form CDJ 402

Form DS-156K

Form CDJ 430

Medical Examination Instructions, form Mexwide 202 K

Public Charge Information, form OF-167

I copied/pasted that from the website.

is there anything I am missing? I think my affidavit of support? But anything else?

Thanks everybody!!!!! I appreciate any input.

:D

JMMR,

The earliest I have seen the packet arrive was 3 weeks and the latest 5 weeks. Mine took a little over a month. Also, you DO NOT need to accompany your fiancee, I recommend it for the support, but it is NOT required. Best of luck.
