Brian,

I'm not sure what hotel I will stay at yet... Just somewhere within 5-10 min walking distance and is comfortable.

I have heard good things about the Hotel Lincoln, the best thing was that someone had previously paid $59 a night through hotwire. I had planned on staying here:

http://www.lucerna.com.mx/cd-juarez/index.php

Lucerna also received good reviews, plus it just seemed like a nice to stay. IIRC, it is right across the street from the Hotel Lincoln. But it is probably closer to $90 a night.

Forgot about Labor Day. :-(

I am now officially shooting for the second week in September, and that should be pretty much set in stone, since I can only leave work during the first part of the month.

So anybody who wants to join me that's when I will be there, hopefully.

Brian

I stayed at these furnished apartments not too far from the consulate. They gave me the 60 a night price since we stayed there a week. Its a 1 bedroom with a kitchen and bathroom and also has wireless net. Its a few blocks from the S market so its good place if you plan on staying for a while in Juarez and want to do some cooking. Its also alot cheaper than eating out every night. If anyones interested heres the info. We couldnt have found a better place to stay.

Yeah, I am going to be pretty cautious being out, but I don't plan on being out in the evenings. If it were any other situation, I'd be out exploring on my own and seeing as much as I could.

Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if for the interview, my fiance needs to have his birth certificate translated into English. On the Ciudad Juarez embassy website it says:

Original and photocopy of applicant’s birth certificate (applicants with non-English or non-Spanish birth

certificates must submit a notarized translation with the original and photocopy).

Does that mean that if its in Spanish, that is ok? Or do we need to have a copy translated into English? Thanks so much!

It's fine. If he/you were born in... say, France, it'd need a translation.

Hey Guys!

Glad to see people are recieving their NAO2 approvals around the same time :star:. I really feel like I have some people to relate to as far as a timeline. I just recieved my NAO2 approval via e-mail last night 7-16-2008. I am planning to make my trip to Juarez, HOPEFULLY with no out of the ordinary paperwork delays, the last week in August. I am pregnant and the baby is due September 24, 2008 so I am a little scared to go anytime after that for fear the baby will come early....haha. I am lucky to enough to live in Phoenix, Arizona so I can drive to El Paso, not having to fly. I just had a couple questions maybe you guys can help.

1. I haven't sent in the I-134 form for Affidavit of Support form yet anytime during this process. Is this something the NVC will request for? Or do I just bring it to Juarez when I go, to give to my fiancee?

2. Are any of you dealing with possibly having to apply for any type of waiver? My fiancee unfortuntely EWI to the US twice once, when he was 17, but only stayed for less then 5 months. Then again that same year, this time 18, but only stayed less then a month in the US. He has not been back since. I believe he is not inadmissable for overstaying in the US. BUT, always a but, he tried to EWI 3 times in June 2007 to be with me. He got caught everytime. He believes they were just catch and releases becasue he was never asked to sign anything. He did get fingerprinted though. So don't really know what happened.......

Also, when he was here the first time, 3 weeks after turing 18, he was arrested for possesing a fake SS card and green card (all numbers used on them were fake, not of an actual persons). He never presented himself as the fake people on the cards, while Tony was being searched they found them in his wallet. November 1999. He was charged with a class 4 felony for forgery, but never resolved his ticket. Now it says that the case (I have a certified copy to take with me to Juarez) is satisfied with the courts. There are no pending charges against him. I am not sure what they will say. I know they are pretty easy on certain types of tickets, but that type I am not sure....I thought it was stupid he was even charged in the first place because so many people use those cards to work. That is why he said he had bought them in the first place. Any suggestions or comments? Do you think he will have to get a waiver? If so, what type? I don't if I should start preparing a HSL for a waiver or just a letter explaing the situation of the incidence and his apologies? I don't know. Anything anyone has to say will be much appreciated!! Thank you again!

you're going to need an overstay waiver. I think www.immigrate2us.net has more information on that. You should probably consult an immigration attorney....your case isn't as straightforward as many of the people on this site. Buena suerte!

Lynz,

I can never remember when a waiver is eligible or not, but I think there's a good possibility you'll need the HSL. Tijuanahilton is right about recommending the other site (immigrate2us.net). There is a lawyer (Laurel Scott) who has weekly chats on that website (I think it's Wednesday nights at 11 EST?). There used to be a VJ member here who goes to that website and family based immigration dot com. Her name is KitKat. She's very helpful, and went through the waiver program with her now-husband.

Hi everyone,

I have been so very busy with all the wedding planning. I thought I would post a goodbye message now, since I will not have time to post anything later this week. After 7 years with my man, we will FINALLY have our religious wedding in GDL, Jalisco (where we first met 9 years ago). See guys, dreams really do come true. So keep working hard at getting your fiance here in the U.S. with you, because it is very possible and so worth it in the end. Best of luck to all those headed out to Juarez soon. Sorry for being gone for so long, but I have been quite busy. It's twice as hard planning a wedding for Mexico when you are in the U.S. I leave to Mexico this Saturday, and then in a month is our wedding. I am sooo excited (and yet very very nervous).

Lynz,

You should prepare the I-134 and have your fiance take it to Juarez during his interview (don't forget to have it notarized). You should also definately consult a lawyer (as previously mentioned) since your case is a little more complicated than others. Don't give up though, best of luck.

tijuanahilton,

I saw on your timeline that your AOS appointment is in August, how exciting, you guys will do fine. Is it in downtown? Make sure to check out my review when we went to our interview in October. GOOD LUCK!!!

Well guys, goodbye I promise to post some pics of the wedding when we get back in September, bye bye.
