She does not have access to the internet!

How much is the taxi ride from the airport to the area where the embassy is at? I am trying to find out what I should expect to pay. I thought I heard someone say it is $40!

I may be wrong, but I thought I remembered reading $20? But what do I know, I'm just going off of what I thought I had read earlier in this thread. Good luck!!!!!

Do you think my plan is going to backfire? I mean since I bought everything in advance. Do you think there will be a delay, this is what she has:

1) Financial proof: I am the sponsor, I provided previous 2 years of income tax returns, no note from an employer because I am a full-time student, I left my job in August of 2007. My dad is co-sponsor, I have his passport and naturalization papers for proof of citizenship. I have his tax return for 2006 and it shows that he earned 103,000 dollars.

2) Unsigned, she has an intent for marriage, the form used off of this website, not the form from the Juarez Consulate website.

3) Unsigned, DS-156 and DS-156K, dual copies of both

4) My signed intent to marry form from the visa journey example forms

5) NOA 2 color copy, not the original. Printed on 1 piece of paper, double-sided

6) My birth certificate along with a copy

7) Proof of ongoing relationship including 10 or so pictures, and 7 or so trips to Acapulco with the receipts

8) the original I-129F submission

9) she has a few 2x2 passport pictures, taken December of 2007

10) I sent her a color copy of my passport and she will be bringing her passport with a 2010 expiration and original and copies of her Birth

Certificate

I am worried about the financial support. My dad is clearly over the poverty limit but he did not file his 2007 returns yet, he gave me the 2006 returns. Also, I am unemployed, and I do not have a letter from employer, nor did I give her an explanation that I am in school. Any suggestions? Thanks!

A question about the medical exam: I thought I read somewhere that the doctors do not give you an extra copy of your medical results and that when filing AOS, if you don't have proof of the different vaccinations, you end up having to get them all over again? Is this true and does anybody know about this?

hi all. we arrived in juarez this morning. were staying at these apartments called Daniel's. were paying 55 a night. its a 1 bedroom with its own kitchen and its got all the stuff needed for the kitchen. we decided to go shopping for the week so we wont have to go out, only for the medical exam and the interview. hopefully we can have the results in by thursday and head there the same day. we talked to some people here in town about the process and they have said that everyone has to go to the bridge for a stamp that they have to give with the visa. i guess we will find out if we will need to do this since someone responded about this question and told me that its only necessary if you intend to go into the states through El Paso. Well... I'll keep posting new info as I get it. There is a lot of military present here so we will be staying in the apartment. greatgate...your fiancee needs to bring with her her latest vaccination proof with her to the exam so they can add that info to the medical form. i forgot wich one but she will have to tell em. that way when she files for aos and have to be transferred by a consulate approved surgeon or something like that. if she doesnt have that info put on by the people at the exam then she will need to take them in the u.s

This might really interfere with my plans. I hope it is not true that everyone has to go to a bridge and get a stamp! Diana will hopefully get her visa Wednesday and will be catching a flight on Thursday.

Please, can someone confirm that after receiving the visa stamp in the Mexican passport, you do not need to travel to a bridge to get a stamp?

im hoping we wont have to either. soemone posted a responce saying its only necessary only if el paso will be your point of entry. its about 40 minutes from the consulate and would run about 50 dollars in cab fare im figuring.

I found the answer to the 'stamp at the bridge question':

Well, after getting the K1 visa stamped in the Mexican passport she must enter by the bridge that they'll indicate on the packet or yellow envelope that she will receive in the consulate together with her visa (Example: Cordoba Bridge). In the office at the bridge, she must give the packet to the officer and he/she must bring her a permit or I94 form (a little piece of paper wrapped to her passport). You must pay for the I94 like 5-6 dollars. And she won't spend more than 1 hour to get the permit. The permit is for inform to immigration that she already enters to USA and that the time starts to count (remember 90 days to get married, is the rule).

yea see.. since we wont be entering the u.s that day we wont need that stamp. why would be the 90 days start then if we wont enter on that same day. i doubt we will need to get that stamp. some other person here also told me that she got the visa and did not get that stamp either.

thegreatgate and sanfranguy,

When your fiance's get visa approval in the CDJ consulate, their visa is affixed to their passport, it is not stamped into it. The visa is actually like glued onto their passport, its actually pretty neat.

You guys do not need to go get any sort of stamp before crossing into the U.S. At least this is what my husband (then fiance) followed. When my guy got his K1 in Juarez, he returned to Guadalajara and then entered the U.S. about 2 months later. He flew out to Los Angeles and this was his port of entry. I actually went to GDL to bring him home with me and I am sure he never went to get any sort of stamp in Juarez.

Another word of caution though. These ppl. who informed you about receiving the stamp, they are not talking about the POINT OF ENTRY STAMP are they? If they are, THEN YOU NEED TO BE VERY CAREFUL. IF YOU GET IT WHILE YOU ARE IN JUAREZ THIS WILL MEAN YOU WILL HAVE USED YOUR K1 VISA AND IF YOUR FIANCE GOES BACK TO MEXICO SHE MAY NOT BE ALLOWED INTO THE US ANYMORE SINCE SHE WILL HAVE USED HER K1. I am thinking that is what the ppl. meant, that their point of entry was El Paso and that's why they are talking about the stamp since they entered thru there. You have to be careful about what you hear while you are in Juarez because a lot of it may be info. that is not very reliable.

I just know that my husband received his point of entry stamp until he arrived in LAX. This stamp was placed on his mexican passport and said that the k1 visa expires on a certain day. It is to let you know that the 90 day countdown has begun. Within those 90 days, YOU MUST MARRY.

thanks for that cutie. yea..i hear alot of mixed stuff here in juarez. the taxi guys are always offering some kind of service. luckily we have an associate of my fiancee that she knew of here in juarez and shes getting us around. We are about 5 min taxi ride away from the consulate but were just gonna walk it and get to know the area a bit. It doesnt seem as dangerous as people make it sound but at night I wouldnt be walking around..although my fiance made me go to the mart at 10pm to get her some water :| I kept turning my head every car that came around. Anyhow.. I'll be posting later on how the medical exam went once we go tommorow. Later........

Buen dia.

Glad to hear we do not need to go on a dummy mission to a bridge to get a stamp. That is a relief.

I'm not sure if procedures have changed since then...but there is a yellow envelope with documents that must be given to an immigration officer. Didn't your husband have to do that? Or did he surrender the envelope at the port of entry in LAX???
